Situated at the north gateway of Orchard Road with ION Orchard at the south gateway, The Atrium@Orchard has been undergoing enhancement works to convert two floors of office and decant space to retail space. Renowned international architect firm, Benoy, was appointed for the project which will see The Atrium@Orchard linked to Plaza Singapura on three floors in a seamless integration.

The integrated mall will have approximately 625,000 square feet of retail space, with more than 350 shops providing exciting retail, dining and entertainment options, making it one of the largest retail malls on Orchard Road at about the same size as ION Orchard.

Inspired by its proximity to the Stamford Canal which once linked Orchard Road to the sea, Benoy designed wave-like ribbons on the façade and canopy to evoke the idea of the ebb and flow of people and trade. The dynamic, elegant use of these ribbons unifies Plaza Singapura and The Atrium@Orchard in a seamless architectural façade, defining a new presence on Orchard Road.

The façade design draws from imagery derived from the energy, spontaneity, and beauty of flowing water with its rippling surface and lush forms of a tropical forest hanging over it.

With the iconic ION Orchard on one side; and the new, seamless integrated Plaza Singapura-The Atrium@Orchard on the other, Orchard Road will be filled with even more energy, excitement and beauty from end to end in 2012.
