Since 1935, CYC has been on a journey of distinction in dressing their customers for style and success. Their values, support of sustainability, communities and people continue to inspire them to embrace the new, while sustaining their valuable heritage.
Here are the top 5 things you can do at the newly-opened CYC @ Capitol Piazza (besides tailoring):
1. Create a 3D customised outfit - Ever find it difficult to imagine what some fabric swatches would look like as a shirt? You’re not alone. The solution: A touch screen 3D shirt builder in-store that helps you visualise your outfits with their curated range of fabrics, collar styles, and button colours! They also gave you the option to pair them with trousers so you’ll know just how to style your shirts!
2.Check out their new line of bespoke shoes - Get to learn more about your feet in the process. The concept store presents the collaboration between CYC and Hong Kong’s premier bespoke shoe artisans, ShoeArtistry. Apart from excellent craftsmanship, and a wide selection of beautiful veg-tanned patina leathers and styles to choose from, they’ve also got a 3D foot scanner to help them measure your feet with maximum speed and precision. With that collected data, they’ll be able to craft shoes moulded to fit the arches, insteps and heels of your feet perfectly.
3. Become a fabric expert in 3 minutes - “What is the difference between 1-ply and 2-ply cotton?” and “What’s the difference between cashmere and merino wool?” Their fitting rooms aim to answer all the common fabric-related questions they’ve encountered in their years of experience. With this knowledge, you will be able to pick out the exact fabric that meets all your needs without being overwhelmed by the choices.
4. Let your creative juices flow like you used to as a kid - Bringing your family and kids along? Now there’s a space for them to play while you focus on getting your clothes done! Create your very own backdrop for an Instagrammable shot with miniature CYC shirts, trousers and quirky animal magnets!
Don’t forget to tag them (IG: @cycmadetomeasure) while you’re at it!
5. Take a peek into CYC's 84-year history - Some of you have known of them since you were kids; some through your parents, some through their heydays. Regardless , it is nice to get a peek into the history of renowned local companies. For those new to CYC, go on a short journey with them as they reveal pivotal moments of CYC's 84-year heritage.

Studies have shown that through good play, a child’s body, mind and soul are stimulated which encourages interaction and creative development. The ‘playscape’ ethos begins from the arrival atrium. Its environment and interiors serve to provide your child and family a holistic care experience.
Their 10-storey outpatient centre is visually prominent with a lofty 14m-high arrival atrium, rising above the surrounding buildings. A clear separation of vehicular and pedestrian flow ensures a safe arrival and facilitates registration.
The spacious atrium aims to promote intuitive way finding for visitors arriving via different transports or from other buildings within the Kent Ridge campus. The linkway on the fourth level will connect the new centre to the Main Building, allowing integration with existing facilities (including inpatient facilities and services) and maximising operational efficiency for the existing and new services. The experience of each visit focuses on two essential aspects: one-stop convenience and a delighted child.
In order for paediatric consultation to be a pleasant experience for the child and the accompanying caregiver, they aim to provide a cosy and comfortable environment where stress is taken out of the visit.
Your child and family will first be greeted with an explosion of colours at their city-themed atrium. The journey to the upper storeys sees a nature-themed reception and waiting areas which will lead to the outdoor playground.
Traditional seating and room configuration are replaced by modular furniture that serve as play objects and resting areas. The sky gardens are adjacent to the waiting areas on every floor. This access to daylight and the outdoors creates a therapeutic environment integral for a healing experience.
Waiting time is translated into play time in the themed (i.e. rainforest, savannah, arctic) waiting area as the child climbs, crawls, interacts and explores the theme-inspired features within observatory vicinity of the parents.
The new centre will change the experience of a visit to the hospital for both the child as well as the accompanying caregiver.

Singapore’s latest mall library will open in VivoCity on 12 January 2019, promising book lovers here an exciting new venue with the latest features and services. The public library will offer conducive reading spaces for patrons of all ages set against a splendid view of Sentosa. To fit its location and help patrons locate it easily, the library will be named Library@Harbourfront.
The library, which will be situated at level three of the VivoCity shopping mall, will be conveniently linked to the HarbourFront MRT station, which is connected to the North-East and Circle lines, and the HarbourFront Bus Interchange. “We want our libraries to be as accessible as possible, so that more patrons of all ages can make use of the library to read and learn,” said the National Library Board’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Elaine Ng.
The library will be relocated from Bukit Merah Central. The present Bukit Merah Public Library will cease operations from 1 December 2018. After the library has moved out, the community’s grassroots leaders and a few social service organisations will provide a variety of services and programmes at the site. These will include a mini-library and reading corner supported by NLB.
To continue to serve the reading needs of Bukit Merah residents, NLB has also set up another 12 reading corners in the area in the past year. The 12 mini book hubs offer over 5,000 books and 250 seats in total. These corners cater to residents of all ages, from children and students, to adults and seniors.
On top of the reading corners, NLB will look into bringing one of its MOLLY mobile libraries to the area fortnightly, to provide residents with additional books and programmes. With this service, they will be able to borrow and return library books conveniently.
Leading up to library@harbourfront’s opening, residents will also be treated to special preview tours of the new library space. The tours will be held one week before the library officially opens in January 2019, allowing them to have a first look at the new features.

At SuperPark Singapore, children and youngsters at heart will be thrilled by a wealth of new sports and activities, with all equipment rental such as scooter, helmet etc included in the ticket price. All activities will take place under the guidance of experienced staff, many of which are recognized coaches, and are safely away from rain, pollution, high UV or bugs and mosquitos all year round.
Family is at the heart of the SuperPark story. Taneli Sutinen, a Finnish businessman, was sitting in a café with a newspaper one day when his four-year-old daughter grabbed him by the arm and insisted that he come play with her. Tangled among the child-sized tunnels and slides, he had a light-bulb moment: why not create an activity park where children and adults could play side-by-side easily. The Superparking lifestyle was born.
The first SuperPark opened in Vuokatti, Finland in 2012, and was soon followed by 12 more sites in the Nordic country. Now, the ‘Superparking lifestyle’ is going global. SuperPark Singapore marks the continuation of an international expansion wave that includes Hong Kong, China, Sweden and France. The dream is to see hundreds, if not thousands, of SuperParks all over the globe, bringing families together through the power of joyful play.

Brainstorming, discussing and pooling in ideas from best practises and correct practises in the industry, their dedicated team of teachers indulged in an in-depth and meaningful discussion for over three years to ensure that the right facilities are put in place for the overall benefit of their students during the making of the school. The result is a labour of love and true dedication of these educators who insisted on only the best for their students and made sure they got it.
The revamped Sustainable Singapore Gallery at Marina Barrage presents an overview of Singapore’s commitment to sustainable development. While there are exhibits that chart the milestones which brought about the high quality living environment Singaporeans enjoy today, the focus in many parts of the Gallery is on the challenges ahead and the steps people in Singapore need to take together as a nation to keep the country smart and green.
The Gallery is organised into six zones, tracing Singapore’s response to climate change, our water management strategies, zero waste initiatives and efforts to keep Singapore clean, green and sustainable, including investments in renewable energy.
The interactive panels and multi-sensory exhibits will appeal to the young and old. There are also interesting artefacts such as a porcelain figurine presented to Dutch economist Dr Albert Winsemius in 1993 after he famously lost a wager, with Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and his team, that the Singapore River could not sustain life.
Admission is free to the 1,618 sqm gallery. Free guided tours are available for booking through PUB website. Read more about the gallery and its different zones here.

Get ready for an exciting voyage on the turbulent high seas and sail off on an explorer adventure at the newly-unveiled Maritime Experiential Museum on Sentosa Island.
After nine months of extensive overhaul, the Maritime Experiential Museum is the only one of its kind in Singapore reconceptualisation, this is the newest attraction on Sentosa Island and dedicated to the exploration of the iconic Maritime Silk Route.
Housing a total of 15 unique galleries including five brand new zones featuring never-before-seen content and installations, the revamped attraction will engage the senses of guests through a combination of state-of-the-art visual projections, multimedia shows, interactive hands-on exhibits, olfactory experiences and plenty of stunning Instagram-worthy displays.
Greeted by the four world-famous seafarers with holographic effect in the Briefing Room, guests will embark on the maritime adventure through the eyes of Marco Polo, the merchant from Venice; Sang Nila Utama, Palembang prince and founder of Singapura; Ibn Battuta, Moroccan scholar and explorer; and Zheng He, Chinese admiral and fleet commander.
After a glimpse into how maritime trade and cross-cultural exchanges contribute to the progress of civilisation and shape the world today, guests enter the immersive Learning To Navigate chamber – an all-new interactive gallery designed like a lower deck of a ship. Guests can try their hand at reading nautical charts, navigate a mariner’s compass or learn more about the ancient art of celestial navigation. Replicas and projections of early trading vessels that ply the Maritime Silk Route, such as the Chinese Junk, Javanese Jong and Borobudur Ship, offer awe-inspiring 360-degree views and fascinating details on the construction of these sturdy ships.
Next, a vibrant marketplace at The Flavours of Maritime Silk Route depicts how precious merchandise such as silk, spices and gemstones were so highly sought after that traders were willing to risk their lives for them.
Guests can continue their journey and marvel at the Jewel of Muscat – designed like a 9th century Arabian Dhow – which made a tumultuous 138-day voyage from Oman to Singapore in 2010 using ancient navigational methods with a crew of 15. The immersive Typhoon Theater, a must-see anchor attraction, simulates a sinking ship in a treacherous storm, letting guests face the wrath of the sea before descending into the depths of the ocean.
