Guzman Y Gomez burst onto the Australian dining scene in 2006, a time when quality Mexican cuisine could scarcely be found Down Under. One of the earliest ‘gourmet to go’ brands in Australia, it was the brainchild of New York native Steven Marks who saw a gap in the local market for the authentic Mexican food he had been brought up with and loved so much.
With a menu built on traditional Mexican flavours made from only the best ingredients, the brand is a celebration of all things Latin – the food, the music, the art and the personality!

Wildly popular in Australia, thanks to its customisable menu made from the freshest quality ingredients, Mad Mex has powered into Singapore with its first restaurant in Singapore that recently opened at Marina Bay Financial (MBFC) Tower 3.
With more than 70 locations now operating in Australia and New Zealand, the dedicated Mad Mex team has served up more than four million burritos across both countries in the last 12 months. The success of the group has spurred the new international expansion and coincides with Mad Mex’s new 2019 brand refresh and positioning, ‘Fresh Fuel For Life’, which places arevived focus on healthy living and supporting people in living life to the fullest.
The latest move comes after the owner of 4FINGERS bought a 50% stake in Mad Mex last year. The brand is looking forward to more openings in Singapore and Malaysia, where its arrival could fill a gap in the food industry with honest, healthy ‘fast food’.
With Mad Mex there is no ‘burrito-ing’ round the bush; only fresh, ethically-sourced ingredients are used in its food every day. So pure and simple, the recipes used are available online along with a nutritional calculator for full transparency into what customers are eating. Customary Mexican favourites – Burrito, Naked Burrito, Tacos, Nachos, Quesadilla, Grande MeltTM and Ensalada – are served and customers are encouraged to customise their meals according to their dietary requirements – anyone can eat at Mad Mex.
Founder and CEO Clovis Young of Mad Mex sums up the ingenuity of Mad Mex’s humble but revolutionary ethos, “I started Mad Mex in 2006, because I absolutely love Mexican food, and I wanted to share that love with all of Australia, and the world. I wanted my customers to get a fast meal with homemade quality, made entirely of real ingredients. That means the fewest preservatives, oils and sugars – while always big on taste. You should never have to choose between a quick meal and quality healthy food.”
The Loco Group opens new fast-casual Mexican spit-roasted chicken joint, Chico Loco in the heart of the Central Business District.
Located on Amoy Street in the buzzy Telok Ayer area, Chico Loco is here to buck the eat clean trend, and shake up what it means to eat healthy. Food can be a deliciously dirty four-letter word, and the Mexican chicken joint is here to dish out dirty healthy plates. Fresh, guilt-free comfort food that is irrevocably good for body and soul, and irresistible fare that chars, drips, smokes and sizzles.
Forget eating clean. Chico Loco is here to serve up food worth getting dirty for.
Grab some napkins and get ready to devour some seriously good chicken at Chico Loco, where the birds are always antibiotic-free, hormone-free, cage-free and organic-fed.
Before the chickens go on the spit, Chico Loco brines them for 10 hours in an umami solution featuring a touch of agave nectar. The chickens are then basted with a secret house blend of 11 herbs and spices including quintessentially Mexican ingredients like achiote, dried oregano and mustard powder for bold splashes of flavour. Over the course of an hour, the chickens are roasted before a naked flame for a luscious, smoky finish. The result? Moist, fork-tender chicken that is as tasty as it is healthy.
The Loco Group Pte Ltd owns and manages Chico Loco, Lucha Loco and Super Loco. The four partnersJulian Tan, Christian Tan (aka “The Tan Brothers”), Ajay Parag and Chef Jason Jones have also recently launched their own hot sauce, tequila and craft beer range.

Coyote is the new contender to the few Modern Tex-Mex restaurants in Singapore’s F&B scene, promising heartier, more wholesome Tex-Mex cusine experienced in a semi-fine dining design.
Coyote will be helmed by Chef Jihardi Amin, well-known in the culinary scenes of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand for more than 19 years, who has long-honed his expertise in both local and Western cuisine. His love for Mexican food was cultivated when he was mentored by two reknowned Mexican chefs: Chef Adrian Pinto and Chef Nacian Prince. Chef Jihardi found both familiarity and exotic flavour in Mexican colour, spice and aroma.
With combined similar minds, the opportunity to head a Tex Mex restaurant was kismet. The authentic menu to be delivered in Coyote reflects the humourous and jolly side of the Chef, as he abides to “respect and love the ingredients, and cook it with your heart and soul. The food will make rainbows in your eyes”.
Fresh quality ingredients will always be a cornerstone and essential to Mexican food to bring out its utmost vibrancy. With Chef’s varied local and Western cuisine backgrounds, you can look forward to some chef’s specialties, which has a slight Asian innovation to Mexican food for the fresh twist but still keeping close to authentic Tex-Mex cuisine. Their family-friendly restaurant also welcomes children to enjoy a healthy and appetising kid’s menu. Delightful Mexican desserts unlikely to be found in a typical Western restaurant will also delight all fans of both the sweet and the savoury.

A Global Chinese concept, Lokkee (pronounced as 'Lucky') is a witty and cheeky play on favourite Chinese recipes which have been given a unique tweak to include a dash of Western influence. This genre of Chinese cuisine, often defined by chow mein and fortune cookies, is reinterpreted and elevated here through fresh, top quality ingredients, and clean flavours.
Lokkee aims to add diversity to Singapore’s restaurant landscape and celebrates the style of cuisine commonly found in Chinese restaurants dotted across major cities such as New York, London and Sydney. Created by enterprising Chinese immigrants, it is an appropriation of the food from their motherland, adapted for diners in their new environment.
Lokkee is designed to tap on the growing audience of well-travelled Singaporeans for whom the idea of Chinese food for a Western audience is associated with being in a buzzing cosmopolitan hub.
