After successfully introducing the best of Hainanese cuisine and culture to Singapore withits first outlet in at Hillion Mall, The Hainan Story now lengthens on its tale with a new instagrammable 24-hour outpost at Hotel Boss, offering kaya toast, kway chap, satay, curry rice, waffles, ice cream and more all hours of the day. The Hainan Story (Hotel Boss), is set to open on Friday 16th April.
Called Chapter 1 following the initial introduction, it has two additional concepts – Whole Street White Kway Chap and Jin Jin Golden Porridge – as well as its own bakery offering the best of Hainanese breads and pastries. The coffee house is an amalgamation of traditional Singapore Hainanese cuisine with a modern twist.
All in all, look forward to over 40 new items, offered 24 hours a day from six different brands brought to you by Chefs Steve, Pang Kok Keong, and Austen Ong who have carved their names at Baoshi, Antoinette and Grand Hyatt Singapore previously.
In tribute of the early Hainanese settlers who arrived on Singapore’s shores shortly after the British,The Hainan Story preserves Singapore’s colourful food heritage while offering diners a wide range ofdelicious, traditional favourites. Often affiliated with the F&B industry, the Hainanese community is widely known to brew the best coffee in town while cooking up a storm in the kitchen. At The Hainan Story, this legacy continues.
The décor at The Hainan Story at Hotel Boss pays homage to the colourful, vibrant and lively Hainanese stage opera with splashes of bright colours dressing the space, punctuated by humble wooden elements as a nod to the modest nature of hardworking Hainanese. Marble tables invite all to communal meals that strengthen bonds and mismatch chairs bring back the spirit of togetherness of a bygone era. Spot the upside-down coffee cups that are hung from the ceiling in reverence toone of Hainanese culture’s most famouscreations – the Hainanese sock coffee.

The second Singapore outlet is set to open middle of June 2018 and will be located in Tanjong Pagar.
One of the levels of the flagship store is dedicated to food. You can also find the Don Don Donki bar, the first outside of Japan.
The Japanese themed bar with an array of drinks like sake, beer and whiskey operates from 4pm to 2am from Sunday to Thursday and from 4pm to 3am on Friday and Saturday.
The cheapest product at Singapore's Don Don Donki is the Calbee Jagatico Salad which is going for S$0.50, while the most expensive is the 35-year-old Hibiki Suntory Whisky at S$80,000.
