Tarte by Cheryl Koh started their 1st retail shop at Shaw Centre in 2015. Enjoy artisanal tarts with seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world by Les Amis pastry chef Cheryl Koh, voted "Asia's Best Pastry Chef" 2016.
Their artisanal tarts and other confectioneries are baked from scratch every morning with only the best available ingredients sourced from around the world. Many of these ingredients are highly sought-after and rarely used in Singapore. At Tarte, a lot of time and effort is spent perfecting a seemingly simple tart and all tarts are made with a high level of technicality and finesse.
At Tarte, there is truly something for every occasion. Their lovely assortment of pastries are the perfect accompaniment for an intimate soirée or corporate event. From artisanal tarts to beautifully fashioned canapés, the team always has a little something to ensure the party ends on a sweet note.

F&B newcomer The JOMO Group will launch their first neighbourhood bar + kitchen + bottle shop ‘JOMO’ in the bustling Holland Village locale in early January 2021. This venue will be the first of five that The JOMO Group plans to open around neighbourhoods in Singapore, with the view of offering high-quality cuisine coupled with beverages at a very accessible price point.
JOMO aims to become a local hot spot for guests looking for a wide selection of drinks and dishes that are family-friendly and affordable. The concept will be that of a warm, casual, friendly neighborhood hangout with a minimalist Bar, Kitchen & Bottle Shop vibe, and a modern yet timeless ambience directed towards a simpler lifestyle.
To be open 7-days a week, JOMO will offer dine in and take-away options. The family-friendly menu will have a wide selection of dishes including aged Aussie angus burgers, deep-fried pork belly, and homemade pies all from master butchers Sidecar Handcrafted. Other highlights include a 1.2 kg meat platter with fries and coleslaw, enough for 5 people and priced at only $88 nett.
Family BBQs powered by Sidecar Handcrafted will be held every Sunday with two seating options available, 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm. Orders will be taken dim-sum style, and served at tables for sharing with free-flow options of Aperol Spritz and all beer on draft for a bargain $42 nett. JOMO is bringing to Singapore chicken-salted fries that are hugely popular in Australia, a must-try on their menu.
JOMO will have over 250 wines and spirits, including 40 gins by the bottle, and 50 wines at $50 nett per bottle. JOMO’s super-dry low-carb lager beer will be available together with four beers on tap at $8 nett per pint ($6 nett during Happy Hour). Take-away 2.5L beer pouches will also be offered at $28 nett, and there will be no surcharge for take-away or in-house dining.
“Our vision was to create a more stylish F&B experience than what is typically found around neighbourhoods, yet maintain that casual vibe and sense of community we all enjoy. We also wanted to stay away from the old and stuffy and bring back the vibrant, convivial feeling to a place where you know you will have top-quality food and drinks at a fantastic place to unwind, “said Group General Manager, Steve Yallop.
“To ensure the safety of our guests, we will be working with 'Equal Strategy' to use their latest technology 'Eco Pure Room', a patented and safe, NEA approved COVID-19 killing airborne sanitiser currently used in hospitals and leading global hospitality brands,” he added.
JOMO will feature a luscious alfresco area sweeping around the building, a full retail shop experience on the ground floor and a stylish, yet minimalistic restaurant and bar on the second floor.
JOMO – Holland Village is located in a three-storey hidden gem that has distinctive window-panes and a pointed roof at the end of Lorong Mambong Road in Holland Village.
Happy Hour is from 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

The Hainan Story, a 5-in-1 multi-brand Hainanese restaurant is now open at Hillion Mall. In tribute of the early Hainanese settlers who arrived on Singapore’s shores shortly after the British, The Hainan Story wants to preserve Singapore’s colourful food heritage while offering diners a wide range of delicious, traditional favourites.
Often affiliated with the F&B industry, the Hainanese community is widely known to brew the best coffee in town while cooking up a storm in the kitchen. At The Hainan Story, this legacy continues. Through its 5 different concepts, The Hainan Story features the work of numerous Hainanese chefs — both famous and up-and-coming — who work closely together to create comforting, nostalgia-invoking meals.
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and at The Hainan Story, they think the same. There, you’ll find old-school breakfasts done just right, with traditional Hainanese toasts that boast thick, fluffy buns with a pillowy-soft centre and wonderfully crisp crust — unlike the thin, flat toasts commonly found elsewhere.
Much effort was put into the décor of The Hainan Story to replicate the look and feel of traditional shophouses located at the old Hainanese enclave. The Hainanese enclave consisted of Seah Street (Hainan First Street), Purvis Street (Hainan Second Street) and Middle Road (Hainan Third Street).
From the red wooden arched window louvres to wired pendant lamps and vibrantly coloured signages, design elements are evocative of that era.

Cuturi Gallery is a next generation art gallery founded on the belief that art should be empowering and meaningful for everyone. A curator of change and a custodian of artistic diversity, Cuturi Gallery is a challenger of vested interests and of the status quo, pushing the boundaries of how galleries operate. The gallery connects broad audiences to high-quality art by diverse talents that speaks to the heart and tells the story of an undiscovered generation of aspiring artists that will have the art world aching for more. Diminishing aristocratic traditions and providing transparency in an art world that is at times daunting, Cuturi Gallery presents an inclusive and democratised art ecosystem which fosters greater collaboration, understanding and appreciation of art amongst artists, collectors and the industry at large.

The founder of Cuturi Gallery, Kevin Troyano Cuturi is an art advocate with an unconventional background that belies his passion for the art world and devotion to nurturing Singapore’s art scene. The Real Peranakan opened two outlets in quick succession in July and August 2020, amidst a global pandemic.
Brainchild and a labour of love of a serial entrepreneur with diverse business interests in the emerging markets, Mr SY Lim, believed that amidst all the chaos in the world, good food is still the simplest and most effective way to encourage bonding, communion and the fostering of relationships. And that is what Peranakan cooking is all about.
With an Indonesian Baba grandfather, he grew up eating Peranakan food cooked by his mother and despite being well travelled and having tried a myriad of cuisines, he shares that Peranakan cooking still evokes the most comforting memories of home.
The Real Peranakan is founded on the belief that the gastronomical journey never ends, and in working with the best chefs, consumers would be treated with authentic dishes that connect with people of all ages. Savour the tangy, spicy, herby and aromatic flavours characteristic of authentic Peranakan cuisine helmed by Celebrity Chef Philip Chia, also known as Philip, The Peranakan Chef who curated the Channel 8 hit TV series ‘The Little Nonya.’
In the short span of 2 months, The Real Peranakan’s menu has evolved and now showcases a celebrated menu that pays homage to Singapore’s rich cultural diversity and heritage flavours from a bygone era, aptly helmed by a true-blue Peranakan and an indisputable authority on Peranakan Cuisine.
Diners can expect quintessentially traditional Peranakan dishes at The Real Peranakan.

Beauty in The Pot’s newest 250-seater outlet at NEX boasts a magical Unicorn Wonderland theme.
Unleash the inner child in you at the newest Beauty in The Pot's outlet at NEX! The outlet is swathed in swirls of purple and shimmering silver, reminiscent of a magical unicorn wonderland. The fusion of colours of the restaurant’s interior design is achieved by using a mix of rainbow laminates as well as mosaic tiles and complementary pastel pink and blue laminates. The privacy panel of each booth seat is fitted with galaxy mirror, further adding to the surreal vibe. Arches and curve lines throughout the restaurant create a sense of rhythm and depth.

In celebration of the opening of its 7th outlet, Beauty in The Pot will offer Flaming Moutai Herbal Drunken Chicken Broth at the new outlet for a limited time only. The seasonal broth is created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China.
Moutai is a brand of distilled Chinese liquor; the eponymous brand hails from Maotai, Guizhou. Reputed as the most valuable spirit in the world, Maotai is served at every Chinese state banquet and is often the first choice as a diplomatic gift. When the broth arrives at the table, Beauty in The Pot’s waitstaff will light the ladle filled with the liquor, before pouring it into the boiling broth. The Moutai lends a unique, savoury, soy sauce-like flavour.

Chinese cuisine is vast and varied, but no matter the region or province, you are guaranteed a delicious and comforting meal. The newly opened Tang Lung restaurant wants to capture that essence — all set against the backdrop of a slick, modern restaurant that pays homage to an era when traditional Chinese opera flourished.
Perched on the breezy Robertson Quay, Tang Lung boasts a wide array of Chinese cuisines from various regions, all with a distinctively modern twist: think luscious Steamed Flower Crabs in Shaoxing Wine, addictively buttery Pineapple Char Siew Tarts and crackling Deep Fried Soon Hock in Superior Soya Sauce.
With an expansive spread of over 60 dishes, Tang Lung is the perfect location for casual business lunches, decadent dim sum high teas, and hearty family dinners alike.
The restaurant’s star dish is undoubtedly the Steamed Flower Crab in Shaoxing Wine. The delicate, luscious meat of the flower crab is given a new dimension with the addition of the restaurant’s special sauce which contains a combination of sweet, fermented rice, spiced Shaoxing wine and soul-warming chicken oil that is made in-house. In this dish, two live flower crabs lie on a bed of fresh vermicelli noodles, which, after absorbing the juices and sauce from the crabs, make for a dish that is near revelatory.
The Steamed Glutinous Rice with Crab Roe might take at least half an hour to reach your table, but it is well worth the wait. The once-ordinary dish of glutinous rice gets a heady do-over at Tang Lung – cubes of Shiitake mushrooms, shredded dried scallops, Chinese ham, and crab roe are mixed into the rice and fried. The two sweet Yellow Roe Crabs and glutinous rice are first steamed separately, and then together for just the right amount of time inside a cheese cloth to impart a distinctive umami taste to the dish. Here is a secret — the best part of the dish is the rice beneath the crabs which soaks up all the juices from the tender crustaceans as it steams.

Zouk Group has recently announced its expansion plans for Five Guys in Singapore and Malaysia. Opening its first-ever Five Guys in the heart of the city, Singapore’s second outlet will be located in NEX, Serangoon, and is targeted to open by early 2021. Building on the success, the first-ever Five Guys outlet in Malaysia will open its doors where Genting Group was founded - Genting Highlands.
Since Five Guys was introduced in the Lion City in December 2019, it has experienced great success and captured the tastebuds of Singaporeans. Building on the popularity and success of its first outlet, Zouk Group is now making the legendary American fast-casual restaurant even more accessible. Conveniently located in a bustling suburban district of the country, and coupled with delivery service, Singaporeans in the north-east region will also be able to enjoy the classic burger from the comfort of their own homes.

The Ministry of National Development (MND) and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) have recently announced the award of the design consultancy tender for the redevelopment of The Float @ Marina Bay. The Float @ Marina Bay will be renamed as NS Square.
The completed space will be a distinctive, attractive and flexible events venue. NS Square will also feature an NS-themed gallery, community sports facilities and a new public waterfront promenade.
A new permanent stage deck will replace the existing floating platform, with a new grandstand of increased seating capacity of around 30,000 seats. The tiered curved seating stacks will wrap around the stage to provide an uninterrupted line-of-sight to the stage from all angles as well as bring spectators closer to the 'action'. In addition to hosting the National Day Parade, the space can also be configured for events of different scales and types, such as concerts, performances, sporting activities and competitions.
When not in use for events, the stage area will be a multi-purpose space for community activities. The public can also enjoy a new waterfront promenade around the stage that will form part of the continuous loop around Marina Bay and improve pedestrian connectivity in the area. This lower promenade area will be opened all year round; supporting F&B and retail options are also being considered within the new development.
To leverage the site's unique waterfront location, the development will feature a water sports facility to support activities such as dragon boating, canoeing and kayaking. This facility, part of a larger network of water sports facilities around Marina Reservoir, will provide the community with greater access to water-based recreational options in central Singapore. There will also be a swimming pool and water play areas for the public to enjoy.
With a mix of open and enclosed spaces, the planned NS-themed Gallery will showcase our nation's defence and NS story, and acknowledge the contributions of our national servicemen past and present. Stories of servicemen from the Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team will be told through various multimedia platforms and hardware displays.

Singapore Philatelic Museum (SPM) is re-opening as a children's museum!
Singapore Philatelic Museum will be closed for redevelopment to refresh the museum’ infrastructure, content and offerings to enhance the visitor experience for Singaporeans. This will be a major redevelopment since SPM’s opening in 1995. The museum will be closed to the public from 18 March 2019, and is expected to re-open to the public in 2021.
Dedicated to showcasing Singapore’s rich philatelic heritage, SPM uses stamps as windows to introduce Singapore’s heritage and culture, as well as our connections to the world. Located at 23B Coleman Street, the building that houses SPM was formerly part of the Anglo Chinese School, and later the Methodist Book Room. SPM was officially opened on 19 August 1995 as a project of the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore. Since 2000, the museum has been managed by National Heritage Board.
Redevelopment works at SPM will include essential infrastructural upgrades to the museum building, as well as a revamp of the permanent and changing galleries to improve visitor experience.
During its redevelopment, SPM will continue to engage the young through travelling exhibitions and education programmes at pre-schools, primary and secondary schools. It will also continue to organise signature events such as the annualNational Stamp Collecting Competition and Draw My Stamp Story Art Competition. Families can also visit A Little Magic roving exhibition at public libraries. Look out for updates and activities on the museum website www.spm.org.sg!

Cicada at Clarke Quay is a multi-concept dining and entertainment venue that spans two floors - on the first is an all-day dining bistro, while the second floor features a smouldering, jazz lounge (level 2 will be ready in Q2 2020).
The entire concept pivots on a Modern Asian angle - from the food, to signature cocktails on tap, and a regular live entertainment programme (showcasing top-notch Mandarin singer-songwriters and jazz musicians), Cicada blends the best of Singapore and our surrounding region to curate a welcoming space that hopes to offer a slice of elegance and tranquility within Clarke Quay.

Don’t be misled by its name! Lè Fusion on Mohamed Sultan Road is not your typical East-meets-West restaurant. Rather, be prepared to travel the world from the dinner table. The passionate husband and wife duo behind the newly-opened Lè Fusion takes inspiration from their walk through the world, fusing all of their favourite eats in one place.
Nestled near the Singapore River, Lè Fusion is a chic restaurant and bar where lèisure dining meets a lègacy of culinary innovation. Lè Fusion is all about bringing 樂 (‘le’ which means ‘joy’ in Chinese) in every aspect of its journey from recipe innovation, curation of ingredients, to an exquisite culinary and other-worldly experience for diners.
A key feature of Lè Fusion cuisine is focusing on the creative use of quality ingredients to reinvent the dining experience, while preserving the DNA of Chinese cuisine. Every dish imbues a characteristic attention to detail, and surprises with a light delicate touch.
Start your course with the Imperial Double Boiled Soup, a luxe rendition of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall unexpectedly elevated by premium nu er hong rice wine and the pan-seared Rougie Foie Gras served atop an unassuming bed of Chinese glutinous rice.
Experience a melting pot of well-loved recipes and masterful cooking techniques through the main courses with highlights on Crispy Pork Roulade, Asian Crusted Provencal Lamb Rack, Tsingtao Beef Fillet, and Braised Abalone Seafood Rice.
Even its desserts are prepared with slight but impactful tweaks to regular offerings. The Lè Fusion Chendol and Panna Cotta with Sweet Glutinous promises a playful sweet finale which cannot and should not be missed.
Drinks at Lè Fusion go hand-in-hand with its Tapas menu, especially its signature Crispy Pork Belly Mantou, a special rendition of the familiar braised pork buns (kong bak bau) drawing influence from the Philippines.

An establishment steeped in culinary history, the 1-Group introduces Zorba, The Greek Taverna – a unique Greek experience that brings authentic dishes with age-old traditions from the azure Mediterranean Sea to sunny Singapore. Sitting along the waterfront of the Singapore River in Clarke Quay, Zorba aims to transport guests to a Greek isle with nourishing simplicity set along the picturesque riverbank.
Taking pride in their culinary traditions, Zorba presents a selection of crowd-pleasing dishes from appetisers, pristine seafood and meats, and tempting desserts. Rooted in Greek heritage and culture, Zorba sources its traditional ingredients direct from Greek suppliers.
A signature option at Zorba is the extensive selection of Greek’s Mixed Grill Platter ($88). This hearty sharing platter includes cheese-stuffed bifteki, pork gyros, chicken and beef souvlaki, lamb chops and Loukaniko. Perfect for sharing with friends and family of two to three, this platter, and served with a side of fried potatoes, salad, and tzatziki. Another substantial dish is the classic grilled platter of Souvlaki ($20) that showcases juicy grilled meat skewers served with chips and tzatziki salad. Zorba's version features the traditional Greek selection; Argentinean air-flown Black Angus striploin, Iberico pork, and Brazilian chicken breast. The meats are marinated for 48 hours in a proprietary blend of spices before being grilled to perfection, making for a full-flavoured and tender bite.
An all-time favourite, the Htapothi Sti Skhara ($30) features a heritage recipe from the isles of Greece. The octopus is first tenderised by hand as the chef beats it with a smooth rock, after which it is sprinkled with salt water and rubbed with the same rock in a circular motion until the tentacles curl up. The octopus is then slow grilled atop a low-burning charcoal fire with sea-salt and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, for a delicate smoky char.
Other noteworthy grilled items include Tsipoura ($32), which utilises sea bream flown in from Greece. The ancient Greeks held the sea bream or 'Orata' (Italian for 'golden') in high regard due to the golden flecks in its eyes, and it was frequently offered to the goddess Aphrodite for its attractiveness and meaty flesh. Keeping the seasoning light and clean, the fish is drizzled with lemon, garlic and olive oil and grilled on a plancha for a meal worthy of a deity.
Aside from pristine seafood and quality cuts of meat, the Greeks are equally known for their saccharine desserts. Fit for any sweet-tooth, Greek Baklava ($12) presents a rich sweet flaky pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and held together with honey. Another dessert staple includes Yiaourti Me Meli ($8) - Greek yoghurt with lashes of honey and crunchy walnuts.
Along with the great tasting food, Zorba also serves Katogi Averoff wines from Metsovo by the bottle to further enhance the Mediterranean experience.

Be led by your nose as you enter the newly-opened Penhaligon store at Raffles City and allow one of their fragrance aficionados to assist you in discovering your new signature scent whilst picturing the fresh English countryside in your mind.
Founded in 1870 by William Penhaligon, the house encapsulates the English idea of a traditional heritage fragrance house with a dedication to create scented stories. From the original Hammam Bouquet in 1872 – created after the smell of the Turkish baths located next to his first boutique on Jermyn Street - to the latest creations like the Portraits collection in 2019, legacy with a twist is at the core of the history of the house. Each and every creation explores facets of high perfumery, challenging the traditions of the art and seeking new ways to interpret elegance. Truly English, Penhaligon’s is passionate about ingredients and still manufactures its scents in England using the finest rare ingredients. Penhaligon’s creations are now offered in own boutiques and selected distinguished stores across the world.
Penhaligon’s is honoured to hold two long-standing Royal Warrants; from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh (granted 1956) and from HRH The Prince of Wales (granted 1988).

Newly-opened at Basement 1 of Capitol Piazza, Carmen’s Best ice-cream uses 100% cow’s milk and cream. A not so known fact is that many commercial ice cream manufacturers do not actually use fresh milk or milk at all in their recipes which by default, doesn’t really make them ice cream to begin with. But Carmen’s Best makes homemade artisanal ice cream the old-fashioned way which means that there is no water, no additives, no mass-production and just pure craftsmanship and only the finest ingredients available to them from all over the globe. Now that sounds like ice cream. Now you can indulge yourself.

Japanese streetwear brand Íxi:z, makes a comeback 40 years in the making.
INDIVIDUALLY BASIC – a tagline not seen in Singapore since the early 1980s, where it was closely affiliated with Japanese streetwear brand Íxi: z (pronounced ick-sees). Four decades on, Íxi:z is making an unprecedented comeback with a retail store now open at Mandarin Gallery, and an official launch to be announced in early 2020.
Those who grew up in the 80s will fondly remember Íxi:z as an iconic brand which once encompassed everything from bomber jackets to wallets and pencil cases.Revitalizing a brand and reshaping it for the consumers of today is no small task. But as the saying goes, class never goes out of style, and by keeping the familiar elements of the brand intact, the team behind Íxi:z are confident it will once again capture the imagination of a whole new generation of streetwear enthusiasts. Manufactured in Japan to ensure quality, Íxi:z prides itself on a bold, measured approach to high-end streetwear. Understated, minimalist, and highly individualistic, their core values still fit neatly in today’s world 40 years after their inception.

SunnyHills farmers follow the time-honoured tradition of farming naturally, cultivating without pesticides or genetic modification pineapples that are small in size but rich and intense in flavour. Twice a year, their earth pineapple crop ripens with the seasons; in spring the harvest is mellow and sweet, and by the turn of fall, the cool breeze infuses a piquancy to the yield. The full flavours of the seasons can be experienced as no additives are used, just the sensibilities of a baker refined in the gastronomy of natural ingredients.

The Most Famous Bar on the Planet is coming to Singapore and they are launching an island-wide search for Coyotes! Coyote Ugly Saloon, the well-known American bar and restaurant brand that inspired the cult movie of the same name, features female bartenders and dancers called Coyotes in a fun, drinking environment. Taking over the premises that was formerly the f-Club at Clarke Quay, the 700 capacity bar and restaurant, launching in January 2020, will operate 7 days a week with choreographed dance routines taking place nightly. What an exciting addition to the local nightlife scene!
Coyote Ugly Saloon Singapore is launching a recruitment campaign calling for bartenders, singers and dancers to fill their 20 Coyote positions. The women empowered campaign calls for ‘Stars behind the Bar’ to forge a star-studded career and have fun doing it. Successful candidates of this coveted role get to travel for guest stints in their 26 Coyote Ugly Saloon locations around the world.

The Coyote Ugly legend began with a Lillana Lovell, a dream and a little bit of Wild Turkey. In 1992, the Wall Street apprentice, sick of working for other people, quit her job and started working behind the bar. Her quick wit, antics behind the bar and the ability to take your last dollar eventually led to her opening the first Coyote Ugly outlet in New York city. Two Disney executives walked into the bar one day and had such a great time that they decided to make a movie about it. In the year 2000, Touchstone Pictures and producer Jerry Brukheimer released the film “Coyote Ugly”, directed by Michael Bay and starred Piper Perabo, Maria Bello and Adam Garcia. The rest they say is Hollywood history.
Today, the Coyote Ugly Saloon franchise operates 26 outlets in the US, UK, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Japan and has earnings that grossed over $34 million in 2017. Liliana Lovell is personally involved in the recruitment and training of Coyotes, interested candidates can apply with their CVs to singapore@coyoteugly.com or check out their FB page.

Souvlaki (souv·la·ki·a) – the popular Greek street food of small pieces of meat or vegetables grilled on a skewer, is the highlight of Supergreek’s menu offerings. Supergreek’s modern spin on this Greek specialty consists of tender cuts of meat, fish and vegetarian options accentuated with quintessential herbs such as oregano and dill, as well as tomatoes, onions and Greek vinaigrette, then grilled, roasted, or steamed, but never fried.
“At Supergreek, we follow traditional Greek cuisine which is predominantly plant-based, and focused on lean meats, seafood and heart-healthy olive oil that is also fresh. Whether your diet is plant-based, keto, low carb, pescatarian, high-protein, or if you are just curious about eating better, we have some amazing options for you that will help you in your search for the holy grail of sustainable healthy eating: nutritious, delicious, affordable and repeatable.” Hsin Yao elaborates.
