To be open 7-days a week, JOMO will offer dine in and take-away options. The family-friendly menu will have a wide selection of dishes including aged Aussie angus burgers, deep-fried pork belly, and homemade pies all from master butchers Sidecar Handcrafted. JOMO’s super-dry low-carb lager beer will be available together with four beers on tap at $8 nett per pint ($6 nett during Happy Hour). Take-away 2.5L beer pouches will also be offered at $28 nett, and there will be no surcharge for take-away or in-house dining.
“Our vision was to create a more stylish F&B experience than what is typically found around neighbourhoods, yet maintain that casual vibe and sense of community we all enjoy. We also wanted to stay away from the old and stuffy and bring back the vibrant, convivial feeling to a place where you know you will have top-quality food and drinks at a fantastic place to unwind, “said Group General Manager, Steve Yallop.
“To ensure the safety of our guests, we will be working with 'Equal Strategy' to use their latest technology 'Eco Pure Room', a patented and safe, NEA approved COVID-19 killing airborne sanitiser currently used in hospitals and leading global hospitality brands,” he added.
JOMO will feature a luscious alfresco area sweeping around the building, a full retail shop experience on the ground floor and a stylish, yet minimalistic restaurant and bar on the second floor.
JOMO – Holland Village is located in a three-storey hidden gem that has distinctive window-panes and a pointed roof at the end of Lorong Mambong Road in Holland Village.

Great World City is home to Hooga's newest store and they have everything HOOGA-LIC prepared for you to indulge in yourself and the people that you love. From your bedroom to the bathroom, from the dining room to the living room, from the knick knacks to the occasional furniture. Be spoilt for choices when you shop at Hooga for your home.
Hooga (pronounced hue-guh) is a concept of living derived from the Danish word “hygge”. But what is the meaning of hygge? The hygge concept cannot be translated to one single word but it encompasses a feeling of cosy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. With so many cold, dark days during the winter month, the Danes incorporate hygge into their daily life to create a wonderfully warm and cosy atmosphere.
Hygge is the art form of creating intimacy in any given moment. It’s about sitting by the fire with a mug of cocoa, enjoying the company of your loved ones or waking up on a chilly morning, reading a book while you’re all wrapped up in a blanket.
When it comes to embracing the concept, it’s always about creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. Candles, lamps, and fireplaces are among the common uses of lighting. It is common in Scandinavian decor to find candles scattered throughout the space or fairy lights draped across the mantle. Colour palette that is neutral contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and peace. Soft and fluffy textures are some of the key elements in the hygge concept. Think: fluffy pillows and soft rugs. There’s nothing better than snuggling up on the couch with layers of blankets and pillows.
The Danish concept of hygge has spread its warmth across the world and has inspired and influenced their brand – Hooga.

• Artisanal hand-brushed finishes on the cement screed provide a three-dimensional textured effect on both the floors and walls – paying homage to the House’s penchant forartistic expressions of creativity.
• A curved accent wall in pastel rose pink accentuates the sophistication andelegance of the women’s collection.

Following the continued success of retro arcade bar and discotheque, NINETEEN80, A Phat Cat Collective is excited to announce the launch of its second bar and club concept, Pinball Wizard. Opening its doors from mid-September 2019, the new space draws inspiration from the vintage glory days of the popular arcade machine, the pinball, with imaginative drinks and music of the 90s mixed with 00s and current hits.
Located in the basement of Sim Lim Square, Pinball Wizard breathes fresh life into the iconic building, in which after opening in the late 80s, has become known as the largest hub for gadgets and tech in Singapore. Pinball Wizard is the first concept bar to open in Sim Lim Square, following the rejuvenation of offerings within the IT mall with hip cafes and retail spaces. Combining timeless pinball games with a great entertainment line-up and bar programme, Pinball Wizard will open throughout the evening before transitioning into club mode at night.
Describing their latest venture, Joshua Pillai, Managing Director of A Phat Cat Collective says, “Sim Lim Square is an unsuspecting yet exciting choice for our newest concept. Fueled by the offbeat charm of Sim Lim Square, we wanted to create a hidden intimate space that is unexpected but stylish with lots of character.” Yafith A. Hamid, A Phat Cat Collective’s Operations Director, adds, “Pinballs have become a rare find in Singapore, and we are thrilled to introduce a bar and club that puts a spotlight on it. We had requests for pinballs in NINETEEN80, and we thought that it was something that we could build an entire theme around. It is simple and accessible for anyone to play with just two buttons, but it’s a game that comes alive and has inspired a massive culture surrounding it.”
A Phat Cat Collective is made up of co-founders Joshua Pillai, Yafith A. Hamid (YA5TH) and Francesca Aurora Way, who are known for their curated concepts and events within the F&B and nightlife scene in Singapore. In June 2018, they launched their first concept, NINETEEN80, which is located in the heart of Tanjong Pagar, provides a nostalgic throwback to all things 80s.
As Singapore’s only dedicated pinball bar, Pinball Wizard, which is also the name of the classic rock anthem by British rock band, The Who, is an endearing moniker for pinball enthusiasts. Playful creativity abounds in this imaginarium of the past and present, through an out-of-the- box and groovy perspective on music, games, design, innovation and popular culture.
St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI) has opened a new heritage gallery, in commemoration of Singapore's bicentennial year and the Tercentenary1 of the Founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools – St. John Baptist de La Salle. Named Missio 1852, the gallery showcases 167 years of Josephian history and Lasallian heritage, tradition and community in Singapore. This project is supported by the National Heritage Board and the Singapore Bicentennial Office.
Founded by the De La Salle Brothers in 1852, St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI) is an independent Catholic school, whose mission is to nurture students to learn how to learn and to learn how to live, so that they can be empowered to grow into men and women of integrity and men and women for others. For over 167 years, SJI has nurtured thousands of men and women who have served the society locally and globally. Missio 1852 celebrates the contributions and achievements of the school and of these alumni who have served the society in different ways throughout the century.
The highlights of Missio 1852 include:
Profiles of distinguished Josephians – Thousands of illustrious Josephians have graduated from the gates and halls of SJI since 1852. Amongst them include Former 7th President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, DPM Teo Chee Hean, Mr Philip Yeo, Prof Leo Tan Wee Hin, Prof Jeremy Monteiro, Justice Chan Seng Onn, whose profiles are featured in Missio 1852.
The Brothers’ Logbook – The La Salle Brothers meticulously kept annual logbooks such as these, detailing notable events like inter-school competitions, important visitors to the school, spiritual bouquets and civics group meetings. It was the practice for the Brother Director to keep a diary/logbook to record key events throughout the school year, to help him when he prepares the annual report to be sent to Rome.
The Founder’s Banner – As part of the school’s emphasis on rituals and symbolism, this Founder’s banner was frequently used in events like the celebration of the apparition ofour Lady of Fatimah in the 1950s. Out of the traditional three banners used, only this one remains. These banners were originally stored away in a camphor wood chest in the Brothers’ Quarters.
The Grandfather Clock that has survived the Japanese Occupation – This clock once stood on the verandah of the Brothers' House and called all therein to prayers and class. During WWII, shrapnel damaged the clock and the marks have been preserved in its restoration. Holes on both sides indicated where shrapnel entered the clock, hit the back of the pendulum and exited on the opposite side.
Missio 1852 is open to SJI students and staff members during school hours during term time. Visit www.sji.edu.sg for details.

Cathay Organisation has unveiled a new space designed to reinvigorate the coworking scene in Singapore. Situated in the vibrant Robertson Quay neighbourhood, in close proximity to the Central Business District and surrounded by a host of fitness and lifestyle establishments, Gather aims to create a community of like-minded individuals and bring renewed inspiration to their work. As well as being conducive to a focused and productive work day, the pet-friendly space prioritises the wellbeing of their members through a unique and engaging programme of lifestyle offerings.
Designed by Takenouchi Webb – the name behind a slew of establishments across the city, including The Straits Clan, Esora, and The Tippling Club – Gather is warm, bright and inviting. The design brief for GATHER was to create a softer workplace; this was achieved through opening up the space and maximising ceiling heights and natural light, using full-length windows to allow natural light to shine in and welcome the surrounding greenery.
The colour palette uses a selection of earthy pinks, whites, and light wood colours to complement the use of natural marbles and stronger terrazzo tones to create a relaxed atmosphere which differentiates it from other coworking options in the city. Whilst the design of the workspaces was kept relatively simple, a heavier focus was placed on the key communal areas, where more impactful materials were used, with brass elements punctuating the social setting.
A coworking space designed with the modern- day business in mind, Gather offers a host of workplace options, from fully-furnished offices to bespoke suites and event spaces, workshops, sessions and activities.
A total of 12 offices range in occupancy from 6 to 40 people. On level 3, all spaces are fully furnished, with private offices suitable for up to 8 people. On levels 4 and 5, bespoke options offer freedom and flexibility for individuals to customise their own office space and layout, whilst still benefitting from the various perks of a Gather membership. Larger office spaces on these floors are able to accommodate businesses of up to 40 employees.
Situated on the outskirts of the iconic Orchard Road shopping district and easily accessible from the Central Business District, Robertson Quay makes for a more relaxed office location; the urbanised area is home to an eclectic mix of restaurants and cafes, with al fresco dining options aplenty and a focus on community and neighbourhood. Holding the wellbeing of their members in high regard, Gather has partnered with several establishments in and around Robertson Quay, offering exclusive benefits for members with Orange Theory Fitness, Absolute You and F45, amongst others. The new coworking space will also play host to regular networking and community-based events, offering members the opportunity to expand their network, learn new skills, and embrace a more social work life.

Tapping on virtual reality (VR) technology, GROHE SPA has a built-in Shower Configurator where consumers can customise their preferred shower system and experience how it comes together in function and design before making a purchase. Putting on a VR headset, consumers see their selections brought to life via projections to experience their shortlisted choices, all without actually getting wet.
Understanding that product information is key in purchase consideration, the store has implemented the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable immediate access via a mobile device. Visitors can learn more about each product displayed and get detailed specifications as they walk through the store, tagging products and emailing the desired information to themselves immediately. Alternatively, they can also project their selections onto a 40-inch interactive touchscreen display interface to better understand each product and view how products have been used in hotel and housing projects from around the world.
Welcoming both designers and consumers, GROHE SPA’s first Asia flagship store will be opened to the public from 9 March.

Open for public use since 12 July, the 400m Rail Corridor Test Track is located between Choa Chu Kang Road & Upper Bukit Timah Road and features a 100m stretch of glow-in-the-dark section.
The test track will undergo a two-year trial to determine the best surface material for use that will make the Corridor safer and more accessible. Government agencies will evaluate the durability of the materials and gather feedback from the public.
Four different surface materials each take up a 100m stretch: fine gravel, grass and gravel, earth-coloured porous concrete, and natural non-toxic light green strontium aluminate minerals, which absorb ultraviolet light during the day and cause the track to emit a soft glow at night.
Going car-lite in the Jurong Lake District (JLD), Singapore’s second Central Business District, is now easier with the completion of a 15km dedicated cycling path network.
JLD is the 8th intra-town cycling path network in Singapore. This is part of the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) long term plan to progressively construct dedicated cycling path networks in all HDB towns to enhance first and last mile connections.
With the new cycling path network, residents can cycle more safely and seamlessly from their homes to public transport nodes or their offices in the vicinity. The cycling path network will also enable families and groups of cyclists to explore the scenic Jurong Lake Gardens all the way to Taman Jurong via the existing park connector.
By end 2020, the JLD cycling path network will also be integrated with the neighbouring Taman Jurong estate, which will have its own cycling path network.
To complement the cycling path network, LTA has been increasing bicycle parking facilities in JLD. The bicycle parking capacity at Chinese Garden and Lakeside MRT stations has been ramped up by close to 50 per cent since 2014, bringing the total capacity at both stations to more than 600 lots. LTA will continue to monitor the demand of bicycle parking in Jurong, and look at enhancing the provision of parking facilities at various locations such as the major transport nodes.
It will become easier to go car-lite in the city, with the transformation of Bencoolen Street, and as the Government lines up a series of other infrastructural projects and initiatives to make walking, cycling, and riding public transport more pleasant and conducive.
Bencoolen Street has been revitalised, with 2 of the 4 original car lanes converted into wider walking spaces for pedestrians, and a dedicated cycling path. Pedestrians can now enjoy the lush greenery along the open walkway, and take comfortable walks using the sheltered link-ways connecting various transport nodes to nearby developments, such as Manulife Centre and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
To inject vibrancy into the streetscape, the Urban Redevelopment Authoriry (URA) and Land Transport Authority (LTA) collaborated with students and alumni from NAFA to design and install a series of unique benches that line Bencoolen Street today. More than 125 new bicycle parking lots have also been installed at key destinations along the street.
The dedicated cycling path along Bencoolen Street will connect to existing and future cycling routes all over Singapore. The Bencoolen Street cycling path will link up to Queenstown-City to the west, Bishan-City and the North South Corridor to the north, and the Central Area cycling network to the south. The Central Area cycling network extends from the Marina Bay area, and connects to the eastern part of Singapore via the East Coast Park.

Designer Thomas Heatherwick has completed a university building in Singapore made up of 12 towers that resemble giant parsnips.
London-based Heatherwick Studio collaborated with local firm CPG Consultants on the Learning Hub, a new eight-storey teaching facility at Nanyang Technological University.
To avoid creating "miles of corridors linking box-like lecture rooms", the building was designed as a cluster of tapered towers surrounding an expansive atrium. The idea was to combine learning facilities with social spaces including balconies, gardens and open-air corridors, to encourage as many opportunities for staff and student interactions as possible.
The 12 towers, which each taper inwards towards the base, accommodate a total of 56 oval classrooms. According to the designers, the non-hierarchal round shape – without any corners or obvious fronts or backs – will encourage more collaborative learning.
Clad with curved concrete panels, the towers feature irregular horizontal stripes that were created using 10 adjustable silicone moulds. This texture lends each tower the look of a root vegetable, although the designers liken the appearance with wet clay.
Balconies extend around the inside of the towers and get larger towards the top of the building, offering views into the atrium. This space is naturally ventilated, allowing air to circulate throughout.
The towers are raised off the ground on 61 angled concrete columns, each featuring an undulating surface texture, and small areas of planting surround many of them.
Meanwhile, the concrete walls surrounding the stair and elevator cores slotted between the towers have been embossed with over 700 drawings by illustrator Sara Fanelli, depicting images from science, art and literature.
The project forms part of a wider campus redevelopment for Nanyang Technological University which, with over 33,000 students, is one of Singapore's largest public universities.

It is for today’s thinkers, dreamers and doers that we hope to write our history through the remarkable output of Singapore’s greatest practicing craftsmen.
