Go Big or Go Home – and that’s exactly what the trio founders of Monte Carlo Boys bar & restaurant did!
Exposed to Monaco’s lavish lifestyle at a very tender age, William, Anthony and Julien brought their game right to the heart of the Central Business District. Being the first Monaco establishment to set foot in Singapore, owners and notorious high school buddies Julien, William and Anthony expands their empire with its rustic metal and wooden fixtures, that enhances the captivating industrial-chic lounge located at the fringe of Club Street, so fret not Instagram enthusiasts.

The Monte Carlo Boys aim to socially share their homeland’s authentic flavours and vibes with their first international venture, while glorifying their own personal life motto – “Life’s too short to drink bad beers and liquors” – and to do exactly that, they have graciously brought in their very own cultivation of luxurious and full-bodied beer. Trust in the Monte Carlo Boys when they say you’ll never have another experience that pays homage with Monegasque dining delicacies infused with heritage and passed down tradition elsewhere.
Ambitious and artistic, Anthony Oscar Orengo prides upon his first café that rose to unexpected success. Not only did Emilie’s Cookies & Coffeeshop clinched Monaco’s best briefly in 5 years, the 29-year-old DJ has hosted many, not if the biggest parties ‘til date back at base. “We believe that people’s love of food and beer always brings the best of people together, and that has always been the underlying motivation for us. We chose Singapore because the lifestyle people celebrate here is very similar to Monaco’s scene. All three of us have explored the different continents around the globe and found that Singapore’s where we feel most at home.”
Thus explaining the décor that will transcend you into realms of the French Riviera, so do keep your glasses raised and hands up high as we anticipate eclectic sounds of Deep House, new-age Hip-Hop and unforgettable old school R&B classics, whilst enjoying unique spirits from their region.

That also means they would be having fun, with our food and drinks of course!”. Geared up with several successful entrepreneurial rendezvous, what William embodies can be seen in the products he distributes to well known hotels in Singapore and now here at Monte Carlo Boys.

Picotin Express first came to life in 2007 at the old stables of the Turf Club Road. From the French word for a ration of horse feeds, the name “Picotin” has been promptly adopted. Presently, the family-friendly European bistro is opening its second outlet in the East region of Singapore. Indeed, Picotin Express has given a refreshing scenery to a heritage site previously hosting Hogs Bar and Restaurant. Bearing in mind the rustic roots of its birthplace of success, Picotin Express at East Coast endorses an invaluable part of Singapore’s history by featuring distinctive colonial architecture. In fact, it inherits the breath-taking sight of one of the estimated 500 remaining Black and White Houses in Singapore.
Built by the British during the 19th century, the Black and White Houses were once home to top-ranking government officials, high court judges and plantations owners. Nowadays, these houses serve as restaurants merely in Dempsey Hill and Rochester Park. Accordingly, Picotin Express East Coast is honoured to be the only bistro in the East region of Singapore offering a unique experience of the colonial era with its unrivalled architecture combined with a burst of European savours. Moreover, Picotin Express East Coast heartens pétanque tournaments, in line with its French origins, as well as other exciting activities such as mini football and snooker.
Old friends of Picotin Express will be pleased to reunite in the East once again with classics that have greatly been missed. Particularly, fresh handmade pizzas named after horse breeds including the Pinto Pizza and other magnificent dishes such as the Whole Roasted Spring Chicken and the Pico Burger. While retaining the same menu, the second outlet will see an exciting addition of breakfast dishes every day starting from June onwards.
Diners who are looking for a space to host a romantic dinner, birthday party, corporate retreat, engagement parties or weddings are from this day forward able to discover the memories and flavours of the colonial era at Picotin Express East Coast.
Picotin Express East Coast will be looking forward to welcoming new diners as well as old friends of its birthplace soon!

His culinary style is characterised by elevating comfort dishes through application of his refined fine dining skillset, a vision which is channeled into his menu at Nickeldime. All food items are prepared in-house from scratch, while working with fresh, seasonal produce and fermentation techniques to optimise flavours. Nickeldime’s international bar food menu features small bites and hearty meals, with hero dishes including an irresistible Duck Waffle. A crisp cheddar and thyme waffle is served with confit duck, candy bacon and thyme maple syrup for an ultimate tantalising burst of both sweet and savoury flavours. Another highlight is the modernised Croque Madame, prepared with house made brioche, hand carved ham, spiced béchamel and a fried egg – the Chef’s personal favourite inspired by his time in France. For small bites, diners can look out for the signature Spinach & Kale Croquettes, Nickeldime’s staple Mac & Cheese and authentically delicious Scotch Eggs.

Whether a true beer aficionado or complete novice, Nickeldime always has 16 distinctive international craft beers on tap, with all premium beers listed on its chalk boards. The broad selection available ranges from light and fruity – such as Stone & Wood Green Coast Lager and Lervig Orange Velvet, to more complex brews – including Pirate Life Mosaic IPA and Black Butte Porter. By establishing exclusive relationships with breweries around the world, the Nickeldime team is able to continuously update its offering with the latest, unique finds and share the insightful story behind each beer. For non-beer drinkers, the well-balanced beverage menu includes house-made lemonade, refreshing squeezed juices and a selection of sparkling and non-sparkling wines.

Claypots Full Circle - Fresh plates of whole fish, squid, mussels, oysters, octopus... and a lineup of delightful meze to share. A melding of Mediterranean and Asian flavours. A bar that beckons. A meeting place for all.
The first Claypots restaurant came into existence on Barkly Street, in Melbourne, Australia, in the 90s. An unassuming little establishment that served primarily claypots and fresh seafood plates in its anterior days, it has evolved into a brand of restaurants well-loved by locals and tourists for exceptional seafood dishes and lively vibes.
A self-taught Mediterranean chef and Claypots’ founder, Renan Goskin, was inspired by South-east Asian cuisine in his many travels. In particular, Singapore had always felt like a place he could call home.
A couple of university students fell in love with the seafood joint. When they came home to Singapore, many years later, they sought to bring Claypots to Singapore.
Full Circle is a collaboration between the seasoned restaurant family and their ardent Singaporean supporters.

At the corner of Telok Ayer Street and Cross Street, you will find Bakery & Bar.
Bakery, cafe and bar all-in-one, serving freshly baked bread, rustic favourites and tapas from around the world, house blend coffees, salads and smoothies by day, turning into a bar and ‘Gin & Fizz club’ every evening.
On the 4th Aug 2011, the people behind Bakery & Bar baked their first batches of muffins on the ground floor of a little yellow shophouse at 112 Telok Ayer Street, that they aptly named the Muffinry. After 6 years in business and with a loyal clientele enjoying their baked treats but requesting a bit more, they decided to expand they offerings...
... and so at the end of 2017 they re-branded as Bakery & Bar.
Today, in addition to their extensive range of sweet treats – muffins, tarts, cakes, scones, homemade granola and cookies, they offer savoury breakfast, lunch and dinner items – pies, quiches, salads, sandwiches, cold cuts and delicious desserts. All their products, including the Turkish pide (flat bread) they serve they sandwiches on, are proudly baked from scratch on-site to their own unique recipes. Their bakery also offers a growing range of loaves to take away – baguettes, pide, rye bread, sourdough, and more.
Their drinks menu, which has always featured signature blend teas, coffees and smoothies, now also includes wines from Marlborough region (NZ), prosecco from Veneto region (Italy), gins from around the world, and a range of award-winning European and Asian craft beers to take you into the night.
And don’t be fooled by the narrow ground floor that’s typical to Telok Ayer Street’s shophouses... they have 50 more seats upstairs! Their second and mezzanine floors offer a welcome hideaway amidst the bustle of the CBD. This space – which regularly hosts corporate events and private parties – is cheerful and filled with natural light by day, transforming to a more mellow, chilled vibe as the sun sets – the perfect spot to unwind and swap stories of the day before heading home.

The Glass Onion is named following an old Beatles song. The song was written by John Lennon and it is his answer to those who looked for hidden meanings in The Beatles music. Fully aware of the power of The Beatles own mythology and with a knowledge of the public at the time over-interpreting his work - the meaning of the song was simple: Dont Over Analyse.
The Glass Onion takes that same approach with its food. Simple dishes that taste great by using fresh and great quality produce to tingle your senses.

Singapore’s leading cinema exhibitor, Golden Village Multiplex (GV), is upping the ante in the entertainment scene in the east of the city, with the opening of Singapore’s first all-new laser projection multiplex at the new Singpost Centre retail mall, located at the heart of Paya Lebar.
Laser projection made its debut on the screens in all eight auditoriums at the 756-seat GV Paya Lebar, which officially opened to the public last month.
With a brightness of 20,000 lumens, the Barco Smart Laser Projection delivers unprecedented picture quality, far outperforming traditional digital projections. The new system creates higher contrast, clearer, crisper imagery and higher colour saturation, providing viewers with a far superior visual effect.
Similarly, auditorium seating has undergone a radical re-think from conventional cinema row-seating. Fusing contemporary design with essential modern-day comfort, GV Paya Lebar’s latest seating concept in its DUO DELUXE hall, gives movie goers the option of enhanced privacy and comfort. With its opulent twin leatherette seats, specially designed with lumbar cushion for superior support, the exclusive 58-seat cinema is further testament to GV’s uncompromising approach to creating the ultimate cinema experience.
And while the in-cinema enhancements might be the main talking point, the multiplex’ aesthetics is far from an afterthought. GV’s grab & Gold® café frames the entrance of the multiplex, lending the foyer both purpose and an aesthetic harmony, rarely seen in modern- day cinema design. grab & Gold® diners can enjoy a variety of local favourites and western dishes all of which can be enjoyed in the 35-seater café or in auditoriums during film screenings.

Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) launched the General Post Office (GPO) at the new SingPost Centre mall, the flagship of a new Smart Post Office network that will serve Singapore’s postal needs in the digital age.
Showing the future for the post office, the GPO is SingPost’s first Smart Post Office, in which traditional brick-and-mortar outlets are augmented by a digital network that offers anytime and anywhere access to postal and other essential services.
A new SAM omnichannel platform, comprising kiosks, web and mobile apps, underpins the GPO and the Smart Post Office, and essentially places a post office virtually in the pockets of every customer to offer flexibility and efficiency that are expected by customers today.
The GPO also features SingPost’s first dedicated philatelic retail store, which will offer both long-time and new stamp collectors the full range of national stamps, and associated merchandise.
The rich heritage of SingPost and the GPO moniker is captured in the design of the GPO at SingPost Centre. Iconic elements from the former GPO at Fullerton have been adopted into modern graphics on the walls, glass panels and POPStation lockers, while historical postal artefacts, such as earlier versions of the ubiquitous posting box, have been recreated.
A heritage video wall retells the evolution of SingPost from a colonial municipal department to a dynamic postal and eCommerce logistics company through different lenses, including the landmark GPO at Fullerton, postal uniforms and Singapore stamps.
At the Philatelic Store, a colonial-era red pillar posting box has been restored and mail dropped into this posting box will be postmarked with a special date stamp in red ink.

The Container is a tapas and cocktail bar that draws inspiration from the elements of earth, air, water and fire. It is also one of two specially curated concepts – Aburiya Japanese Wagyu Yakiniku and The Container Wagyu Tapas & Bar which are located side by side, right next to the iconic Singapore River on Boat Quay, offering a comprehensive Japanese Wagyu experience.
In Hokkaido, wagyu farmers all have a second ‘home’.
At the end of the day, they will gather in old, used containers which are converted into informal ‘bars’.
It is at the bars where they share anecdotes about their day’s work and their family (or how some miss theirs who live in other prefectures). They enjoy small plates of wagyu dishes, served up along with sake and beer. Sometimes, the farmers take turns to prepare their hometown wagyu specialities.
Laughing, bonding, over their stories. A place of camaraderie and friendship. This is a celebration of life. The Container is inspired by this experience.

At Aburiya, you will embark on a real Japanese Wagyu beef journey in more ways than one. Presenting to their customers a unique experience with two specially curated concepts – Aburiya Japanese Wagyu Yakiniku and The Container Wagyu Tapas & Bar are both located on Boat Quay, right next to the iconic Singapore River.
As believers of the “nose to tail” philosophy, the people behind Aburiya and The Container respectfully ensure that they use all the cuts of the Japanese Wagyu beef which they import to Singapore from their partner farmers, to minimise wastage and also to showcase the various unique cuts of the beef.
At Aburiya, they pride ourselves in delivering the perfect yakiniku experience.
They also import their own ‘bincho’, also known as ‘white charcoal’, from their own source. A Japanese tradition for yakiniku, grilling Japanese wagyu over ‘white charcoal’ imparts a special flavour to the slices of wagyu beef.

Located on the second storey of a Boat Quay shophouse, Bee Bee's is the oasis in the CBD with a view of the Singapore River and skyline. Get ready for nights filled with swagger, spice, and bad advice.

The name Splice was chosen as the brand name because the word means to join together or unite, exactly what a pair of cufflinks does, of which they found to be very appropriate!

An exciting new addition to Singapore’s night scene, Chikin (meaning “chicken” in colloquial Japanese) is a contemporary Yakitori-bar concept that offers an array of Japanese skewers, small plates and a delectable spectrum of house-infused cocktails.
The second and newest venue by lifestyle group Coterie Dining Concepts, Chikin was conceived with the aim of amping up the Yakitori experience through a package of great food, flavourful, tipples and a buzzing trendy bar setting.
Housed within a conservation shophouse at the up-and-coming Bukit Pasoh enclave, Chikin pays tongue in cheek tribute to Japanese popular culture and consumerism both with its out of the box characterisation of traditional Yakitori and cocktails , and with its affordability.
Boldly defying the traditionally premium price points of its offerings, Chikin believes that delicious Yakitori and well crafted cocktails can and should be enjoyed without breaking the bank.
On the ground floor of this three-storey Yakitori bar is where a long bar and open kitchen sits, guests are greeted with wall-to-ceiling murals sprinkled with iconic Pop Art symbols that are enlivened with neon lights and energetic graphics.
Through a climb up the stairway, the bar opens up to a lounge-like space in a dim-lit dining hall catered for cosy sit-down dining and for larger groups.
Over at the third floor, CHIKIN holds a private room space dedicated for functions and small group gatherings. Access to the private party room is by invitation or reservation only.
At Chikin, the authenticity and art of the Yakitori is preserved as cuisine-trained chefs serve up a mouth-watering selection of skewers and small plates. As its name suggests, the menu carries as many parts of the chicken as you can name: thigh, wing, heart, gizzard, tail, windpipe, neck, with other Kushiyaki (meat and vegetable) options grilled to a smoky perfection over Binchotan, a high quality Japanese charcoal.
Conceptualized by award-winning bartender Sam Wong, Chikin’s drinks menu boasts a bevy of up to 20 different cocktails, with a majority of 15 being house-made signature cocktail infusions. Infused over a period of three to four days, each spirit is expertly formulated with various ingredients to deliver a spectrum of subtle to profound flavour profiles. Just prior to serving, Chikin’s bartenders top the infusions off with carefully crafted ingredients to enhance and balance the cocktails.

The Wall is a new Food & Beverage establishment that seeks to re-orientate the world of whisky drinking in Singapore -- demystify it, make it friendlier, more accessible, more instantly enjoyable. And it’s not on the other side of Earth; it’s in Tanjong Pagar.
Housed within a 2-storey conservation shophouse, The Wall derives its name from the early 20th century brick walls on each side of the unit. Take a seat at their cosy 10-seater bar on the ground floor or climb the stairs to an intimate lounge decked out with plush leather chairs for more private conversations. They have an extensive cellar filled with exquisite wines and are also proud to showcase their extensive collection of rare whiskies that may be made available for consumption during special appreciation workshops.

Guests stepping into the bar are met with warm smiles and handed a full sumiyaki menu. ‘Novices’ less familiar with whisky can start with something they are more comfortable with --the food -- and then ease into the drink. Whisky is no longer just an after dinner enjoyment at The Wall, but paired with food to enhance the overall ‘spirit-ual’ adventure.

The bar even uses lotus leaves for as drink coasters which are sustainable ware because when the coasters get wet, they would put the leaves back into the dehydrator to dry and then use them again. The steps will be repeated until the coasters can't be used anymore and they will then grate the coasters into powder to use as compost.
