Founded in 2018, Pâtisserie CLÉ (CLÉ is French for ‘key’) was created by local pastry chefs Germaine Li (left) and Joy Chiam (right) as a way to realise their approach to French desserts -- where fresh produce and flavours are the means of invoking comfort and delight in equal measures.
Germaine and Joy first met as students at the internationally-renowned culinary institute Ferrandi Paris in 2016 to do their diploma in French pastry arts. During their course of study, Germaine worked at Patisserie Yann Couvreur. At the same time, Joy worked at the five-star luxury Hotel Le Burgundy where she worked with the pastry team to create desserts for the one-Michelin-star Restaurant Le Baudelaire and Le Charles cafe.
Back in Singapore, both continued their pastry careers in renowned restaurants. Germaine spent time at the now three-Michelin-star restaurant Les Amis while Joy worked at the three-Michelin-star Joël Robuchon Restaurant.

Great World City is home to Hooga's newest store and they have everything HOOGA-LIC prepared for you to indulge in yourself and the people that you love. From your bedroom to the bathroom, from the dining room to the living room, from the knick knacks to the occasional furniture. Be spoilt for choices when you shop at Hooga for your home.
Hooga (pronounced hue-guh) is a concept of living derived from the Danish word “hygge”. But what is the meaning of hygge? The hygge concept cannot be translated to one single word but it encompasses a feeling of cosy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. With so many cold, dark days during the winter month, the Danes incorporate hygge into their daily life to create a wonderfully warm and cosy atmosphere.
Hygge is the art form of creating intimacy in any given moment. It’s about sitting by the fire with a mug of cocoa, enjoying the company of your loved ones or waking up on a chilly morning, reading a book while you’re all wrapped up in a blanket.
When it comes to embracing the concept, it’s always about creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. Candles, lamps, and fireplaces are among the common uses of lighting. It is common in Scandinavian decor to find candles scattered throughout the space or fairy lights draped across the mantle. Colour palette that is neutral contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and peace. Soft and fluffy textures are some of the key elements in the hygge concept. Think: fluffy pillows and soft rugs. There’s nothing better than snuggling up on the couch with layers of blankets and pillows.
The Danish concept of hygge has spread its warmth across the world and has inspired and influenced their brand – Hooga.

Savoir Beds has launched its first Southeast Asian boutique at the Raffles Arcade. Savoir make fewer than 1,000 luxury handcrafted beds a year because they’re focused on making the best, not the most.
With over 14 global showrooms, from London to New York, Paris to Shanghai, Savoir’s mission is to provide every customer with the most comfortable and stylish bed imaginable. From the required support to the style of the home, dimensions, materials and fabrics can all be personalised. Beds for superyachts, headboards inspired by architecture and bespoke prints; anything that can be imagined can be made.
The Savoir story began in The Savoy Hotel, when in 1905 impresario Richard D’Oyly Carte unveiled an establishment revered for it luxurious creature comforts and legendary services. With no bed meeting his pioneering luxury standards, D’Oyly Carte set about creating one. The result is still made today, Savoir N°2 (the Icon) and the spirit of its creation governs Savoir’s approach to every bed it creates.
Skilled craftsmen work intently at individual oak trestles; the tapping of tacks, material in motion and calm conversation between colleagues. These are the Savoir Bedworks in West London and Wales, the antithesis of a production line. There are no hulking machines, just craftsmen hand-making a bespoke bed from inception to completion. Every bed is bespoke, from custom comfort to design details, made and signed by one master craftsman for one customer.

The recently unveiled integrated complex in Bedok, Heartbeat@Bedok, was designed to incorporate amenities that cater to all age groups, providing family-friendly facilities. Parents with kids, grandchildren and grandparents can all come together as families to enjoy themselves in a single location.
Built upon a formerly forested site, it is apt that the main theme of Heartbeat@Bedok is greenery. Every floor plate is bordered with greenery, seemingly enveloping the building within a park’s forest. The multiple layering of plants, trees, shrubs and ground cover simulate a terraced landscape on the south façade, acting as privacy and acoustic screens from the neighbouring residential units. Heartbeat@Bedok’s unique design has also caught the eye internationally and it has won numerous architectural awards both home and abroad.
Bringing multiple services together under one roof, Heartbeat@Bedok is one of Singapore’s largest integrated complexes - it occupies 2.1 hectares or the size of about three football fields. The building houses several facilities such as a community centre, sport centre, polyclinic, senior care centre, a public library, as well as food & beverage outlets and shops.
The new Bedok Public Library is among a suite of community services provided at the new integrated complex, Heartbeat@Bedok. It covers an area of 4,150 square metres spread across the 2nd and 3rd storey at Heartbeat@Bedok and serves residents in the South East areas of Bedok North, Bedok Reservoir, Bedok South, Frankel, Kaki Bukit and Kembangan.
The themes of nature, landscape and greenery feature prominently in Heartbeat@Bedok and within the library itself. The pillar wraps, colours and design in the library include landscape elements inspired by nature.

Better known as the Hamptons, the Long Island towns of Southampton and East Hampton in New York are the playgrounds of America’s rich and famous. Palatial summer homes are the order of the day in a region where you’ll find some of the country’s most expensive zip codes. It's basically the opposite of everything you’d associate with Bedok. According to a new heritage trail, however, the humble corner of eastern Singapore bore an uncanny resemblance to the Hamptons in the early 20th century.
Launched by the National Heritage Board (NHB) as part of the ongoing Singapore HeritageFest, the Bedok Heritage Trail will transport you back in time to the era before the development of the East Coast area; a time when the colony’s wealthiest inhabitants resided in waterfront bungalows alongside fishing villages. With 10 markers spread along a 15km route, you’ll discover Bedok’s long history, from its kampung beginning to its key role in the East Coast Reclamation Scheme.
From pirates to beach parties, fishing villages to coconut plantations, the story of the eastern coast of Singapore shares many common threads with coastal settlements across the world. At the same time, the intertwined histories of Bedok, Siglap, Tanah Merah and the East Coast are unique in many ways.
From the ancient days when Orang Laut fleets looked upon the red cliffs of Tanah Merah as a navigational guide, through the era of colonisation, all the way to Singapore's independence and present day, the area’s transformative journey is told through the branching stories of Bedok and the East Coast in this Bedok Heritage Trail.
