Mandarin Orchard Singapore will relaunch as Hilton Singapore Orchard - Hilton’s flagship in Singapore and the largest Hilton hotel in Asia-Pacific - with product and service offerings aligned with Hilton’s brand standards. Hilton will have the exclusive authority to operate the property upon the opening of Hilton Singapore Orchard.
Asset enhancement works to add new meeting facilities as well as refreshed food & beverage offerings to cater to the growing demand for regional and global meetings, incentives, conference and exhibition (“MICE”) events have also been planned. The planned refurbishment will be conducted in phases and will commence in 2Q 2020 to capitalise on the current challenges facing the hospitality industry due to COVID-19. The refurbishment is scheduled to be completed by end-2021. During the refurbishment period, Mandarin Orchard Singapore will continue to operate under the management of Meritus Hotels & Resorts, the hotel management company under the Hospitality Division of OUE.
Upon its relaunch in 2022, the hotel will feature 1,080 well-appointed rooms and five restaurants and bars including an all-day dining restaurant. The hotel will also boast meeting and function spaces spanning a total of 3,765 sqm, including three ballrooms.

Skyports and Volocopter have announced a cooperation to build the first mobile Volo-Port for air taxis. UK-based global vertiport owner and operator Skyports and air taxi pioneer Volocopter unveiled plans for the Volo-Port – the physical landing pads for so-called eVTOL (electric take-off and landing) – through stunning designs produced by internationally renowned agency Brandlab.
Ground-based vertiport infrastructure is critical to the success of future urban air mobility (UAM), including air taxi operations in congested cities. Construction of the first Volo-Port will be completed later this year. The partners plan to build it in Singapore for the scheduled public flight trials in the second half of 2019. A full-scale Volocopter vehicle is on display at the Greentech festival.

Enable real-life testing of the full customer journey to perfect the passenger experience;
Showcase planned customer services, including pre-flight checks, passenger lounges and boarding procedures;
Allow practical testing of ground operations and services, including battery swaps and charging, maintenance, safety and security;

Taking over Fort Canning Arts Centre, the Pinacothèque’s inaugural feature exhibition is The Myth of Cleopatra. Restellini believes the powerful pharaoh was a figure who captivated generations of artists, scholars, historians… and even fancy dress partygoers. Over 200 works are showcased, – from archaeological artefacts to theatre props – that are related to or inspired by Cleopatra. Also included is the funeral mask, ‘designed to cover the face of the mummies in the burial ceremonies; judging by its size, this mask in particular was designed for a child,’ explains Restellini.
Close to 50 masterpieces – such as those by Rembrandt van Rijn, Claude Monet and Jackson Pollock – from private collections make up the permanent collection. A Heritage Gallery celebrating the history of Fort Canning offers free entry, while the Singapore Pinacothèque Art Academy will provide workshops and lectures. Accor will this year open its first ibis Styles hotel in Singapore, called ibis Styles Singapore, where the former Hotel Windsor used to stand at the corner of MacPherson and Aljunied Roads.

Since its inception in 1896, Louis Poulsen has built brand visibility across the world through a carefully selected network of retailers and distributors. With the setting up of Louis Poulsen Asia in 2008 to better serve the Asian market, the organization is able to focus on enhancing the brand visibility and establishing a stronger foothold in all major countries in Asia.
The new Louis Poulsen showroom extends over 1,500 square feet of a conserved shop house located at Purvis Street. Created by celebrated Singapore interior designer Peter Tay, it will showcase a comprehensive selection of Louis Poulsen's AJ lights and LC Shutters.
South Korea’s The Shilla Duty Free has opened across Changi Airport's three terminals and stocks 182 brands.
Approximately 80 of these brands are completely new to the airport, while 26 are reported to be exclusive and unavailable anywhere else in Singapore. Among the brands exclusive to Singapore are Aromatica and Jean Louis Scherrer Perfume. Shilla has also introduced more than 35 Korean brands.
Shilla also announced that by June a new double-storey outlet in terminal 3 will provide facials and beauty consultations.
