The Fabulous Baker Boy’s reopening at the Aliwal Arts Centre represents “an emotional return to twin passions'' according to baker, theatre actor and owner Juwanda Hassim, who was forced to close at his previous location in the foothills of Fort Canning mid last year after the Covid circuit breaker coincided with the ending of his lease. Now he’s back bigger, better and more fabulous than before with a multi-concept, full-service bakery, patisserie, café and restaurant.
“Our new location is a combination of the two great passions in my life,” said Juwanda. “Food and the arts. I love entertaining on stage and at home and I am thrilled to open The Fabulous Baker Boy at the Aliwal Arts Centre.”

Tarte by Cheryl Koh started their 1st retail shop at Shaw Centre in 2015. Enjoy artisanal tarts with seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world by Les Amis pastry chef Cheryl Koh, voted "Asia's Best Pastry Chef" 2016.
Their artisanal tarts and other confectioneries are baked from scratch every morning with only the best available ingredients sourced from around the world. Many of these ingredients are highly sought-after and rarely used in Singapore. At Tarte, a lot of time and effort is spent perfecting a seemingly simple tart and all tarts are made with a high level of technicality and finesse.
At Tarte, there is truly something for every occasion. Their lovely assortment of pastries are the perfect accompaniment for an intimate soirée or corporate event. From artisanal tarts to beautifully fashioned canapés, the team always has a little something to ensure the party ends on a sweet note.

Newly-opened at Basement 1 of Capitol Piazza, Carmen’s Best ice-cream uses 100% cow’s milk and cream. A not so known fact is that many commercial ice cream manufacturers do not actually use fresh milk or milk at all in their recipes which by default, doesn’t really make them ice cream to begin with. But Carmen’s Best makes homemade artisanal ice cream the old-fashioned way which means that there is no water, no additives, no mass-production and just pure craftsmanship and only the finest ingredients available to them from all over the globe. Now that sounds like ice cream. Now you can indulge yourself.

Twice a year, their earth pineapple crop ripens with the seasons; in spring the harvest is mellow and sweet, and by the turn of fall, the cool breeze infuses a piquancy to the yield. The full flavours of the seasons can be experienced as no additives are used, just the sensibilities of a baker refined in the gastronomy of natural ingredients.

Famous American soft-serve brand Little Damage have recently opened their doors to a second location at the heart of Singapore’s original indie enclave – Haji Lane. Attracting city-dwellers and tourists of all ages, the new intimate space is the perfect respite from a day of exploring sunny Singapore.
Staying true to the brand’s aesthetic, Little Damage retains its monochromatic black-and- white gingham interiors and signature phrases emblazoned in red neon signages, while offering the ideal location for picturesque Instaworthy spots - perfect for patrons to pose with their photo-ready icy creations. The free-to-use photobooth is perfectly situated for customers to take fun-shots in the form of classic photo strips as memorabilia.
Little Damage celebrates the opening of its flagship location with the unveiling of a new indulgent flavour, Strawberries and Cream (S$7). Centred around celebrating and recapturing happy summer memories, this pastel pink soft serve is the ultimate sweet-tooth’s treat. The pastel pink hue contrasts perfectly with the pitch black, handcrafted charcoal cones (additional S$1). To intensify the experience, pair with a second flavour (additional $0.50) with choices such as neon blue Unicorn Tears (S$7) or classic melt-in-your-mouth Coffee Caramel.

On top of their usual well-loved keto-friendly desserts, look forward the savouries, from garlic pretzels to ricotta spinach quiche and rosemary loafs; the sweets, from pecan tigresses to double chocolate chip cookies; as well as beverages, from Thai iced tea with jelly and coffee with coconut jelly. There are also two new additions to their popular KetoSpreads, featuring flavours such as the condensed milk and chocolate.
A passionate baker and the founder of Seriously Keto, Janti Brasali decided to open a wholly keto bakery to offer low-carb alternatives for health-conscious individuals to enjoy while dining in cafes hotels and/or restaurants. On a ketogenic diet herself, she encountered difficulties avoiding carb-loaded foods outside and embarked on a creative journey to perfect recipes that were keto-friendly, for all to enjoy. Janti has also written a book with 14 simple ketogenic recipes to eat her KetoBuns with to allow consumers to maintain ketosis or aft burning, a necessary part of the Keto-diet. The Cheesecake Factory story begins in Detroit, Michigan in the 1940s. Evelyn Overton found a recipe in the local newspaper that would inspire her “Original” Cheesecake. Everyone loved her recipe so much that she decided to open a small Cheesecake shop, but she eventually gave up her dream of owning her own business in order to raise her two small children, David and Renee. She moved her baking equipment to a kitchen in her basement and continued to supply cakes to several of the best restaurants in town while raising her family. Read more here about the history of this well-loved cheesecake brand.

They treasure special memories here at Capitol Milk Bar, that’s why they have dedicated many of their burgers to some key people from the history of the Capitol Theatre.
Like silent screen legend Charlie Chapman and his brother Sydney who visited with Capitol Theatre’s Joe and Julius S. Fisher in 1932. Then there’s Douglas Fairbanks, one of the first movie stars to visit Singapore. During his 1935 visit he came to The Capitol to watch the film David Copperfield (1935) with Lady Sylvia Ashley.
Even Hollywood’s most irresistible woman Ava Gardner made an appearance here in 1954. She was in town to promote her new film, The Barefoot Contessa and attended a private dinner right here at the Capitol hosted by the Shaw Brothers who had taken over a damaged and neglected theatre after WW11. They repaired and restored her to former glory, also adding the now iconic neon sign. And let’s not forget that fun little fellow who entertained young Singaporeans with weekly matinee cartoons every Saturday from 1933 – Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse.
Many have fond memories of the popular Magnolia Snack Bar. Opening first as the ‘Creameries Milk Bar’ in the Capitol Building in the 1940s, they served ice creams, milkshakes and cakes. It was a hit with Singaporeans both young and old for social gatherings and post-movie bites. Magnolia Snack Bar closed in the late 1980’s but we have brought back the sweetness…
Strike Me Pink was a 1936 American musical comedy starring Ethel Merman – the undisputed First Lady of the musical comedy stage. We named our take on the local classic chendol dessert “Singapore Dash” a reference to Douglas Fairbanks and his “high-speed visits” to Singapore. And, The Jungle Book as a dedication to author Rudyard Kipling who made many trips to Singapore. Imagine being in the theatre in 1942 to watch the classic on the big screen after they turned it into Technicolor action-adventure film!

Hailing from Taiwan, with outlets in Shanghai & Malaysia, Camaca at King Albert Park offers Singapore's first ever capsule pod gelato and many other delicious treats.
All of their gelato are hand-made and individually stored in a custom-made capsule to seal in those delicious flavours, making every bite a savoury sensation. The capsules look like giant macarons, except that they are actually not macarons. The capsule will be put into a special machine which would then be swirled into a soft serve gelato.
Their specialized hot air coffee roaster imported from Germany has the ability to reduce carbon emissions produced in the roasting process which significantly minimizes the carbon content in each bean, making it a healthier and cleaner option for coffee lovers.

It all started with a seed and then that was nurtured by their firmly-held belief in celebrating neighbourhoods, that blossomed into a space bourne out of love called Tiong Bahru Bakery on 43 Jalan Merah Saga in Chip Bee Gardens, surrounding the artsy bohemian enclave, Holland Village. After six years in the planning of this long-awaited fourth bakery (really, since the inception of this Singapore-French concept), finally the Home of the Handmade Croissant can embrace the unique culture of the locale and the creative melting pot of individuals that make up this quaint and tight-knitted community.
Sticking closely to homegrown Tiong Bahru Bakery's DNA, they bring fresh breads, viennoiserie and pastries to the people everyday. Expect the full menu of well-loved and familiar all-French butter and flour only treats such as their signature butter croissants which are baked fresh every two hours priced at $3.20 each and the grand list of iced and hot beverage from 8am – 8pm daily at the neighbourhood's doorstep.

Debuted in May 2012 on Eng Hoon Street in charming Tiong Bahru, offering the neighbourhood a range of French pastries and artisanal breads made with the best French flour and butter. As one of the very first French bakeries in Singapore, Tiong Bahru Bakery revolutionised the way locals enjoy breads with topnotch bakes and sparked the French bakery trends. Their croissants have been voted by many as the best in Singapore and the Kouign Amanns are much raved about. All best enjoyed with an aromatic cuppa from the specialty coffee bar by Common Man Coffee Roasters.

Back in 1998, Awfully Chocolate started a cake shop selling only one cake – a simple dark chocolate cake between layers of dark chocolate fudge. Real cake one could bite into, rich in taste yet moist and light. Not just mouthfuls of mousse or cream. Something you would find yourself craving for regularly and never tire of. their philosophy is simple & unique. The focus is not on variety but quality. Their product line is deliberately limited - even today.

At the turn of the 20th Century Mr. Fong Chee Heng landed on the shore of Singapore from Guangdong. He was overwhelmed with hopes and happiness when he saw the opportunities in this thriving seaport. He had his aspiration for Tong Heng (Opulence of the Orient) would be a dream into reality.
From humble beginnings of a push-cart hawker, the business thrived progressively. Mr. Fong and his son Chiok Kai found a home in a shop along Smith Street in the 1920s. The Fong’s continue to cultivate and nurture the pastry business to greater heights.
Today, the business is passed on and run by the 3rd generation of the family with a full-fledged kitchen operating out of their South Bridge Road main branch. The business continues to tempt palates, winning hearts with the authentic taste of traditional delicately handmade freshly baked pastries with a modern twist.

Sugarhaus has opened its second outlet within retail landmark of the East, Tampines 1. This is a unique tie up with United Overseas Bank (UOB), where the dessert parlour will operate from the Bank’s adjoining retail space. Apart from a streamlined menu of its signature brunch options, there is also a selection of locally-inspired homemade ice cream.
Known as “Bing Qi Lin” before it rebranded to become Sugarhaus in October 2016, the year-old brand’s flagship outlet is located within Serene Centre at Bukit Timah. Since then, it has cemented itself as a go-to spot for hearty brunches and desserts for those residing in the West.
Its new 26-seater outlet shares the same brunch menu as its first, albeit a more streamlined one. Diners can power through the day with the Sourdough Toast, accompanied with a choice of four variations: Truffled 63 Degree Eggs; Smoked Salmon, Dill, Cream Cheese and Capers; and Whole Sliced Avocado, Honey & Homemade Dukkah. Another option is the Melted Cheese Toastie with gruyere, cheddar, mozzarella, and served with tomato soup. Yet another choice is the Vietnamese Beef Stew – beef brisket braised in traditional Vietnamese spices, and served with sourdough.
Moving on to the sweets, Sugarhaus’ most popular item, the Rich Man’s Chocolate Cake, takes centre stage as the only plated dessert available here. The selection of ice creams, however, remains as the main draw. The ice creams, made from scratch in-house, come in a variety of flavours created by its owner, Stanley. The premium flavours stand out for the fact that they are richer and creamier than most commercial ice creams. While fans will be happy to find familiar flavours such as the Dutch Chocolate, Earl Grey Lavender and Thai Milk Tea, what sets the second outlet apart from the first, is the focus on locally-inspired flavours. These include Taro, Coconut Kaya, and Durian. Additionally, the second outlet exclusively offers flavours such as Hojicha, Apple Pie, White Chocolate Raspberry and Black Forest.
For a truly indulgent sweet treat, diners can pair their ice creams with Sugarhaus’ crispy and fluffy Waffles.
To complete their meal, they can also order a selection of coffees, teas, bottled drinks and juices.

At aRoma, they keep things simple. They are extremely picky in choosing the best ingredients for their gelato -- they want the natural flavours to shine.
Their gelatos are fresh. They hand-make their gelatos daily, and store them in air tight pozettos prior to serving to ensure that they give you the best quality gelato in every spoonful.
They believe that good gelato will keep you coming back for more. When you get to the front of the line, they're all yours. So take your time to sample their flavours and ask their friendly scoopers about what makes them so special.

Its name "Coffeesmith" is derived from the English suffix "smith", which means that someone is a skillful craftsman of one's product.
Coffeesmith's finest Arabica beans are blended or you can also say "crafted" carefully for the true coffee lover in you.

Kori King is a Japanese ancestral Kakigori (shaved ice) concept founded in Singapore.
Kori King in its modern and minimalist concept store located at The Cathay is proposing a large range of natural flavors of shaved ice alongside Dorayaki, one of the most traditional Japanese pastries.

The fluffiness and the texture of Kori King's shaved ice makes the Kakigori dessert so special. Softer than a snow ball, it feels like plunging a spoon in a cloud. The in-house milk sauce is made with a full cream milk directly imported from Hokkaido in Japan.
