The first Nam Dae Mun flagship store in Singapore is set to open on Saturday, 30 November 2019, at 313@somerset, in the heart of Orchard Road for both local residents and international visitors.
The Shanghai-born brand now has over 300 stores across China, is apparently famous for their hour-long queues when it was first launched in 2016. Consumers are willing to queue for its traditional yet tasty Glutinous (sticky) rice cake and Osmanthus rice cake - which are freshly cooked and made from natural ingredients.

Named after Namdaemun, one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul in South Korea, the Korean-style rice cakes are chopped into small pieces after the dough is rolled out.
The local flagship store also offers Maoshan Durian Glutinous Mochi made with the AAA+ grade of Mao Shan Wang durian. Known for its rich and creamy taste, the delicacy can be enjoyed on its own, or paired with other popular offerings for a complete dining experience.
Ms Freya Wang, Executive Director of Herme Pte Ltd (Singapore master franchise) says, “We are honored and excited to open the first Nam Dae Mun global flagship store in Singapore. Besides the popular varied selection of korean-style rice cakes, consumers here will also be able to get their first taste of HERME's signature drinks and desserts”.

Introducing Yanmi Yogurt's Chewy Purple-Rice Yogurt Drink, a nutritious and guilt-free alternative to Bubble Tea. The iconic yogurt drink with pearl-like purple-rice bits has taken China and Sydney by storm, with fans queuing up to five hours for it. You will be able to taste the same delicious beverage from their Singapore debut store at Funan from 26 October.
Yanmi Yogurt uses fresh yogurt made with Australian milk, and their purple rice is imported from Mojiang Hani Autonomous County (Mojiang). The milk are produced by cows that are raised on pollution-free grassland pastures. The purple rice from Mojiang is known for its premium quality — with strict selection of the grain, it is prepared through ten industrial steps, including continuous process of soaking, boiling, filtering and steaming under careful temperature manipulation (75 degrees) and time control for over five hours to create the perfect sweetness and chewiness. The rice bits are refreshing and add a nice crunch to the velvety drink. Touted as the king of rice, purple rice is rich in vitamin B1, vitamin B2, folic acid, protein and more.

Now open to offer an epicurean adventure unlike any other in Singapore is VUE - the next iconic rooftop bar and grill destination overlooking some of the most stunning vistas of Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline.
Located on the penthouse of OUE Bayfront on Collyer Quay, VUE presents a chef-driven menu that emphasises binchÅtan-grilled specialities at the heart of its cuisine offerings, complemented by a versatile selection of wines. VUE is also home to Singapore’s first rooftop spritz bar, further setting itself apart from other dining destinations around town.
VUE serves up a vibrant and flavourful range of spritz cocktails—from popular favourites to innovative concoctions. The Basil Spritz keeps things classic and refreshing with its combination of dry gin, basil, and lemon; while the Reiwa Highball takes it more oriental with its base of umeshu and rum laced with shiso and mint. A guaranteed hit among the ladies is Ispahan, a fruity mix of raspberry-infused gin, lychee, and grapefruit; while the gents are sure to appreciate the bold flavour profile of the Iberian Burbuja from the blend of Amontillado sherry and white port. The star of the cast and a must try is the signature VUE Royale—a lively cocktail of Champagne and umeshu with a hint of bourbon. The spritz experience at VUE is highlighted by a show preparation of charcuterie and cheese boards by the culinary team. Over the sunset hours from 5pm to 7pm, spritz cocktails come with complimentary servings of canapés.

Executive Chef Sam Chin introduces his flair and creativity into menu offerings that shine the focus on specially sourced ingredients and peak-of-season yields in an eclectic fusion of East and West.
“I personally hand-pick every component that goes into every dish served at VUE,” highlights Chef Sam. “Beyond flavour and technique, I want my creations to also reflect the respect I have for the origin and purity of the ingredients I use.”
Dishes at VUE he cites as examples include the Norwegian king scallop—among the world’s most environmentally friendly seafood—which he prepares au gratin with 18-month, cave-aged Gruyère De Grotte AOP; the free-range duck meticulously reared by House Burgaud in Challans—a highly sought-after delicacy that Chef Sam serves smoked and enhanced with tropical mustard dressing; and prime cuts of Wagyu beef sourced from the fertile lands of the Kumamoto Prefecture, smoked and then served with choice sides of vegetables grown by local farmers.
VUE is sectioned into three focal areas—the 60-seat main dining room, an al fresco pavilion with the spritz bar that seats 36, and a private dining room that seats 12.
Each versatile space at VUE presents the picture-perfect backdrop for gatherings large and small—from networking events and product launches, to celebratory dinners and wedding receptions.
VUE welcomes with a dramatic walk-way lined with black and gold mezzanine tiles, and opens up to a breathtaking, cathedral-inspired arched copper ceiling spanning the entire length of the main dining hall. Glass walls look out to unparalleled waterfront views of scenic Marina Bay, amidst interiors of dark wood, muted ambient lights, and sleek accents that add to the intimate and cosmopolitan setting at VUE. The space, sights, and smells all come together in an immersive gourmet experienceone won’t soon forget.
VUE is a concept by OUE Restaurants, the food and lifestyle division of SGX Mainboard-listed integrated property developer, OUE Limited.

Following the continued success of retro arcade bar and discotheque, NINETEEN80, A Phat Cat Collective is excited to announce the launch of its second bar and club concept, Pinball Wizard. Opening its doors from mid-September 2019, the new space draws inspiration from the vintage glory days of the popular arcade machine, the pinball, with imaginative drinks and music of the 90s mixed with 00s and current hits.
Located in the basement of Sim Lim Square, Pinball Wizard breathes fresh life into the iconic building, in which after opening in the late 80s, has become known as the largest hub for gadgets and tech in Singapore. Pinball Wizard is the first concept bar to open in Sim Lim Square, following the rejuvenation of offerings within the IT mall with hip cafes and retail spaces. Combining timeless pinball games with a great entertainment line-up and bar programme, Pinball Wizard will open throughout the evening before transitioning into club mode at night.

Describing their latest venture, Joshua Pillai, Managing Director of A Phat Cat Collective says, “Sim Lim Square is an unsuspecting yet exciting choice for our newest concept. Fueled by the offbeat charm of Sim Lim Square, we wanted to create a hidden intimate space that is unexpected but stylish with lots of character.” Yafith A. Hamid, A Phat Cat Collective’s Operations Director, adds, “Pinballs have become a rare find in Singapore, and we are thrilled to introduce a bar and club that puts a spotlight on it. We had requests for pinballs in NINETEEN80, and we thought that it was something that we could build an entire theme around. It is simple and accessible for anyone to play with just two buttons, but it’s a game that comes alive and has inspired a massive culture surrounding it.”
A Phat Cat Collective is made up of co-founders Joshua Pillai, Yafith A. Hamid (YA5TH) and Francesca Aurora Way, who are known for their curated concepts and events within the F&B and nightlife scene in Singapore. In June 2018, they launched their first concept, NINETEEN80, which is located in the heart of Tanjong Pagar, provides a nostalgic throwback to all things 80s.
As Singapore’s only dedicated pinball bar, Pinball Wizard, which is also the name of the classic rock anthem by British rock band, The Who, is an endearing moniker for pinball enthusiasts. Playful creativity abounds in this imaginarium of the past and present, through an out-of-the- box and groovy perspective on music, games, design, innovation and popular culture.

The restaurant is named after the Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre in Bangkok, first opened in 1933. The name was chosen as the Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski is also home to a cinema icon of Singapore – the Capitol Theatre – drawing parallels between the city nation and the regal kingdom of Thailand. Like the Capitol Theatre, The Sala Chalermkutung Royal Theatre that was first built by King Prajadhipok as part of the celebrations in 1932 to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Bangkok, operated as a cinema in its early days before it is transformed into the centre of classical Thai dance it is today.
At Chalerm Thai, that storied past and colourful flavours are brought to life by Chef Roy Ng who has spent over 13 years training in the kitchens of Singapore’s best Thai restaurants. His dedication to his craft has seen him awarded the Thai Select award by the Royal Thai Embassy (Singapore) and is translated to the palate with must-haves like the Tomyamgoong, built with classics like Phad Thai Kung and culminates in a colourful end with sweet delights like Thai Trub Tim Krub.

Some people say they make the best craft beer in Vietnam. In fact, they’ve been rated the best Brewery in Vietnam by Ratebeer for the past 2 years. Enter the darkness in Singapore APRIL 2019 and decide for yourself...
Heart of Darkness Brewery on Tras Street is all about duality. Good and evil. Sane and insane. Big, bold, crafted brews that will challenge the way you think about beer. Thirst quenching, session beers that will have you bouncing off the walls. Hop bombs that will give you a kick-to-the-teeth, while still being balanced and delicious. Whatever your taste, they’ve got it….
Their taproom is a communal eating and drinking experience, built around a vibrant, passion-filled menu and their tasty brews. They’ll have 20 taps on-site with 10 tried-and-true flagships, and 10 rotator taps - there will always be something new to tickle your taste buds. They put a whole lot of love into every brew, and their relentless pursuit of quality means that they use only the finest ingredients from around the globe. They are prolific brewers - having brewed over 220 different styles of craft beer since we opened in October 2016. A hoppy twist to a porter? Easy. A 10% ABV, 70 IBU Pilsner?! True story. A 123 IBU Indian Pale Ale? Definitely! Each and every beer is brewed to the same amazing standard of quality. Every. Single. Time. It’s their brewers’ mastery of balancing hops, malts, and yeasts that ensures quality and consistency.
There at Heart of Darkness, they’re all about the good life... Great food, even better beers and amazing service. Like their Facebook page to find out more about when they're opening... It won't be long now!!!

Bringing you a one-of-a-kind experience, b bar is a swanky hideout at habitat by honestbee and is home to an exclusive spirits and cocktail bar that presents New Age Classics, its first of many seasonal themes. Inspired by gastronomy and culinary techniques, ingredients are sourced from around the world, available for purchase at habitat by honestbee.

Resident bar manager Anton Gornev uses modern techniques to recreate classic drinks infused with local and Asian flavours. Originally from St Petersburg, Russia, Anton brings with him a wealth of international experience having competed in competitions across the globe. Employing gastronomy techniques such as fat-washing, sous vide infusion, milk clarification, and even using a bee smoker, Anton’s inventive style adds a layer of depth to b bar’s cocktails. Apart from a change of menus, b bar’s interior decor and uniforms will be updated accordingly to bring a new take to the experience.
Sharing his inspiration behind the current theme of New Age Classics, “As a bar that’s just opening, I wanted to shine a spotlight on classic cocktails to showcase how bartending began and evolved, but with my own modern take. habitat by honestbee is an exciting playground of exotic flavours and fresh ingredients that have inspired me to take on new concoctions.”

b bar is hidden beyond the Wine and Spirits alley of habitat by honestbee, serving as an element of surprise behind the illusive mirror. Colours and geometries give the shelving its own character with brass and stone adding to the richness of textural qualities of the space.
Those looking to ease back this month will be able to indulge in b bar’s low ABV (alcohol by volume) cocktails which pack more flavour than potency. To provide guests with more options, b bar’s menu is categorised into low to high ABV cocktails to suit any occasion. Not to be missed at b bar is Anton’s signature cocktail, Bienvenido, which is a Top 3 finalist in the 2018/2019 Bacardi Legacy competition. Also look out for Milky Whey, a classic milk punch cocktail made with a secret natural cola recipe comprising 15 ingredients, including dried lavender and coriander. More than your average mocktail, b bar’s non-alcoholic cocktails are complex and nuanced. Made with habitat by honestbee’s cold brew coffee from Hinoki and homemade kaya from Lazy Loaf, the Cold Brew Colada is a spin on the traditional Pina Colada.
Reservations are essential for b bar, please email reservations.habitatsg@honestbee.com.

The Lounge Bar, located on the second floor of the beautifully restored shophouse and tucked away on 76 Duxton Road, is curating Singapore’s finest Savoie inspired cocktails. With access to over 40 herbs flown directly from the stunning French Alps, The Lounge Bar is the Lion City’s first drinking establishment offering such a dedicated selection and bringing a little slice of the alps to Asia.
The bar is part of JAG Restaurants Pte Ltd and owned by fine-dining industry veteran Anant Tyagi and Michelin Starred Chef Jérémy Gillon. Resident alco-alchemist, Yong Siang Neo a.k.a. Y.S., has been hand-picked to tailor the menu – his only instruction – to keep the provenance of ingredients at the forefront, in line with the restaurant’s vision and to source independent, small-batch craft spirits.

“It is a great privilege to showcase the work of artisans and small batch producers as their motives are different. There are some wonderful examples of generational heritage among the selection at The Lounge Bar. This makes for a great experience for our guests, especially when we share their story, their inspiration – it always adds a little extra magic to each cocktail! – Anant Tyagi, Owner The Lounge Bar

In a league of its own, The Lounge Bar cocktail program of herb-inspired concoctions is a delicious, if somewhat potent, ode to Chef Gillon’s hand-selected herbs.
Here's a couple of the bar's cocktail creations:
Sariette – Imagine an aromatic blast of rosemary, thyme the moment you pick up this Islay led cocktail. A generous dram of Smokehead whirled around with Montenegro, Branca Mentha, Campari, Carpano Antica formula and Angostura Bitters is sublime.
Hyssop – if you’re craving a slightly bitter pour, look no further. The carefully calculated formula of this minty herb with high tannins with infused rum, St Germaine liqueor, Peychaud Bitters, pillow soft egg-white, a dash of lime juice and simple syrup – simply addictive.
Agastache – this thoughtful creation is a complex mix of this licorice, almost star anise flavoured herb, with beautifully distilled pisco. Add the slightly smokey Pierde Almas Mezcal, Aperol, whisked egg white, lemon juice, grapefruit bitters, sage syrup and you’ll reach new highs!
Visit the bar for more unique cocktails to try. In addition to the bar’s signature selection, the classics have been embraced and elevated to greater heights with the help of craft spirits.

The Lounge Bar is an intimate, elegant and warm den inviting guests to find their favourite spot and settle down with a luscious cocktail. Be it a girls night out, a romantic couples evening or whisky with the lads, the modern design suits all occasion and parties. Two chesterfield sofas have been placed for slightly larger groups while a handful of low tables is perfect for more private drinks. High stools at the bar gives guests direct view of mixologists muddling, blending and shaking away as the pour perfectly executed cocktails.
Complete contrast to Restaurant JAG, the bar menu, also created by Chef Jérémy, offers an excellent selection that perfectly matches the drinks menu. Absolute musts from a French kitchen include the Beef Tartare, Croque Monsieur, Grass-Fed Striploin to Savoie speciality such as Farçon Savoyard while the delicious Braised Smoked Parsnips and Vegetarian Risotto are simply divine.

An all-day dining venue situated at the crossroads of Telok Ayer district, 51 Soho lends itself perfectly as a space for both work and play. Their offerings evolve through the hours, and reflects their human-oriented approach.
In short, 51 Soho encompasses all that is needed in a day for work and play.
An airy light-filled space framed by alfresco-facing ceiling-high windows facing the hustle and bustle of 51 Soho's central downtown location; a stylish full-fledged coffee and cocktail bar full of character in both its form and beverages; thoughtful menus that progress to support hour-to-hour culinary requirements; and that modern-day essential, complimentary high-speed wifi – these are the foundation for the new heart of this vibrant neighbourhood.
51 Soho is designed to foster a social experience. The goal is that you feel that you’ve found the place and the people that you’ve always been searching for.
Natural materials such as brick and wood dominate the interiors vis-à-vis the walls, the bar and the furniture; black steel panels add an urban edge. Up-close observation reveals a delightful and highly Instagram-mable surprise: the patterns alternate between geometrical inspirations to charming cut-outs of birds, teapots and cups.
At 51 Soho, whether you need a quick lunch alone or to entertain a 10-person group of drinkers, the space and staff are quick to respond to your needs.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the hours in between: the menus of 51 Soho seamlessly meets the ever-changing culinary requirements you might have in a day.
Breakfast options are easy and delicious. The Breakfast Overnight Oats ($9.90) rich with berries and other seasonal fruits or a fresh-baked Croissant with Ham and Cheese and Scrambled Eggs ($10.90) satisfy a lighter appetite whilst those who believe in eating like an emperor in the mornings would be delighted with options like the Big Breakfast, ($14.90) a platter which includes sausage, hash browns, pan-fried tomatoes, sunny side-ups and an English muffin with marmalade.
Lunch at 51 Soho is a study in how to elevate the one-bowl meals. Fulfilling the community’s needs for speed, taste and wholesome nutrition, a vast plethora of carefully prepared options – protein and carbohydrate, toppings and add-ons – allow for creative customisation of the meal according to individual constitution and needs.
51 Soho’s dinner menu is a development of the motif tying the breakfast and lunch menus – the familiar is elevated with premium ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and a witty, tongue-in-cheek hat-tip to local culinary preferences.
The golden sunlight that gilds the custom-built bar running almost the entire length of the space brings out yet another fact of 51 Soho. Drinkers will find their attention especially commandeered by the cocktails.
A beautiful list of classics, with a twist, is available but it’s the five 51 Soho Specials that will linger in the memory. Original recipes one and all, the Specials are nonetheless rooted in meticulous research and development. Resounding especially strongly was the history of punch drinks and shooters (or shots) – their celebratory nature; the flexibility of the basic recipes; and the stories – apocryphal or not! – that surround them. In fact, both Difford’s and Vice notes that historically, punch was the drink of choice for high society.
The 51 Soho Specials are a contemporary materialisation of cross-cultural references. Chinese rice wine, plum wine and bamboo wine form the base of the Specials. These, each with its own centuries-old heritage and character, have long since been lost to the serious drinker.

Heels tap against the tarmac, the purring of the engine grows louder, newspaper rustles as someone turns the page. Fasten your seatbelts and prepare to fly across the Atlantic in style courtesy of Idlewild, Singapore’s newest, most exciting cocktail bar.
Idlewild, the original name of the John F. Kennedy International Airport, was at the heart of the action when the first commercial transatlantic flight took to the skies in the 1940s, heralding three decades of what we would come to know as the Golden Age of air travel as travellers set off to exotic lands in search of untold stories and new adventures.
Inspired by the decadence and romance of air travel’s resplendent years, Idlewild takes guests on a journey through the era’s greatest hits – popular travel destinations along the transatlantic route, music that defined that generation and the indulgence and luxury that underscored it all. Each element has been interpreted for a modern age from a stellar cocktail programme featuring modern craft spirits infused with influences from around the globe, to a live band playing postmodern tunes. Expect an eclectic mix of music from the late 1940s to 1960s from pulsing, rhythmic funk and soul to booming big band swing sounds and haunting, heart wrenching blues. Smooth, lilting jazz tunes take centre stage this month with London-born singer songwriter Janine Annice in town as the first lead singer at Idlewild accompanied by a four-piece house band.
Enter Idlewild through a salon style entrance which keeps arrivals discreet and adds to the intrigue and mystery of the space. Something glittering will catch the eye – a Cabinet of Curiosities lined with glistening mirrored tiles; inviting guests on an exploration of the world through over 50 rare and exotic spirits and a plethora of trinkets and drink paraphernalia curated from travels across the globe. Perfectly complementing the main holding of over 250 craft spirits and liqueurs.
The interior is separated into two distinct areas, the Parlour and the Main Room, both characterised by plush furnishing and vibrant accent pieces gently lit by the use of warm, old-world club style lighting that transitions throughout the day, adding a soft, dreamy glow. For something more private, choose one of the raised large bay window booths that provide a secluded spot for a romantic date. Upon departure, immortalise a night at Idlewild with a stop at the Ribbon Wall – a modern day message board – to leave a note or a signed coaster for a friend to discover on their next visit.
Their cocktail programme was inspired by 10 cities along the popular Transatlantic Route – Dublin, Rome, Lima, Lisbon, New York, Casablanca, London, Paris, Mexico City and Havana. 20 signature cocktails (from S$20++ each) are artfully created using innovative and modern techniques and include a variety of artisanal spirits often sourced from small batch distilleries in each location, and rare vintages. Each location is also represented with a tapas-style bar snack (from S$15++) including Atun Chifa, Duck Rillette and Avocado Fries that draw inspiration from respective native cuisines.
Idlewild will also offer larger format Cocktails La Cérémonie that celebrate ritualistic serves native to different parts of the world, ideal for large groups, a party or something to get you going after a long day. Just enter through the glass doors, pick your next destination and take flight.

The opening cocktail list “Cool Britannia” is named in celebration of the modern, outward-facing Britain of the 1990s and the period of increased pride in the giddy cultural fantasia of the United Kingdom – the name itself a pun on the title of one of Britain's most patriotic songs, ''Rule Brittania''.

Junior has released their latest concept, Pacifica, paying homage to authentic Tiki traditions and unrivalled tropical escapism. Pacifica encapsulates the enchantment of Polynesian culture through artisanal exotic spirits, fresh seasonal ingredients and high-quality décor.
“With Prohibition officially repealed, and recognizing that people hadn’t tasted a decent drink during the previous fourteen years of darkness, with the smell of Rhum always in my nostrils, I started to concoct some unusual, and at the time, exotic drinks”– Ernest Gantt (aka Tiki legend Don the Beachcomber).
Tiki is the manifestation of gracefully swaying palm trees, white-sand beaches and exotic visions of island cultured borrowed from tales told by American soldiers. These island dreams manifested themselves into some of the great themed bars of the 1920s and 1930s. The establishments exemplified the lure of the tropics providing a dramatic and inviting escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Pacifica’s cocktail menu is divided into four unique sections; Legends of Liquid Lore, Apertiki, Traditional Tipples of the Tropics and Progressive Potions of Pacifica.

The menu challenges what guests already know about Japanese cuisine and pushes the boundaries between traditional and modern, eastern and western.
The Bushido code is a Japanese code of conduct that is embodied by samurai, and is a sacred set of virtues that Chef Lamley lives by. His craft is defined by tremendous respect for tradition and maintaining the integrity of ingredients. He elevates a time-old cuisine with contemporary flavours to suit the modern palate. The delicate balance of flavours showcases the complexity of each dish and his thoughtfulness. To honour the integrity of each ingredient, he only uses the highest quality of ingredients to derive the purest taste, which can only be achieved by exercising consciousness in the sourcing of these ingredients. By taking the time to understand the work that goes into quality produce, Chef Lamley ensures that nothing goes to waste.

The newly opened Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore has a few exciting F&B concepts to offer. Frieda, which is located within Capitol Piazza is one of them.
Freida draws inspiration from its namesake, who was warmhearted, generous and the very embodiment of hospitality – creating a home away from home, where guests could feel a sense of place and belonging no matter where how far they travelled. It is her spirit of warmth that permeates the restaurant with its four distinct spaces designed to serve every guests’ need.
Right at the heart of the restaurant is the Daybar – inspired by Berlin’s urban style, it is perfect for enjoying abendbrot, a casual evening meal, with a pint of ice-cold German beer on tap, or one of the many German liquors that line the shelves. The Pantry’s open kitchen counter provides an interactive experience with chefs; a cosy, intimate dinner awaits at the Dining Room and the enchanting, botanical-themed Frieda’s Garden sets the stage for a romantic evening.

Alluding to the state of emptiness, Almost Famous at Chijmes was conceived to be a space to provide clarity to the experience. Adding nothing to influence and taking nothing away to distract from the emphasis of the subjects within the space. They wanted to push the boundaries of what defines how a craft beer bar should be.
Conceptualised with minimalism in mind, Almost Famous was designed to be an environment devoid of unnecessary aesthetics. Every detail from the design of furniture, tableware, menu board, and even the coasters was selected with careful restraint, to achieve simplicity in form and function. A concept that was further enhanced by the choice of basic shapes and monochromatic palettes in the overall aesthetics of the interiors.
They wanted this objectivity to be translated into nothing short of a memorable experience with the emphasis on the people, the food and the beers.

The creator behind The Whiskey Library is luxury hotelier Satinder Garcha. Motivated by his love and passion for artistry, Garcha has spent two years bringing his dream to realisation.
Designed for what Garcha calls “a club for vagabonds seeking a unique and hidden experience”, the warm and beautifully appointed Whiskey Library hosts up to 75 guests who, while relaxing and enjoying their whiskies, will be entertained with bespoke experiences such as specially curated sung and told Jazz stories, intimate theatre, book readings, artist evenings, musical showcases, and even independent film premieres. Guests will also be able to enjoy delightful small bites prepared by the Chef de cuisine at The Vagabond Club.
In keeping with the theme of artistry and luxury, the vitrines housing the whiskey collection and other crafted white spirits were designed and hand-crafted by local woodsman Mr Ng – one of the few remaining craftsmen in Singapore who continues to create unique furniture pieces. Designed to enhance the decadent elements of the hotel surrounds, the armoires feature brass claw feet to complement the similarly brass Allahbuksh-designed Rhino reception desk.
Akin to the Allahbuksh family from Rajasthan who crafted the enchanting Banyan Trees at The Vagabond Club, Mr Ng has contributed much to the artistry ambience in Garcha’s hotel portfolio.
Bespoke elements such as artisanal ice and an international selection of the finest of cigars, together with the extensive collection of whiskeys, bourbons, and other crafted spirits bring a truly complete and unique experience to guests of The Whiskey Library.

Pandora’s Garden, a newly-opened rooftop garden bar located at the courtyard of Ann Siang House is dedicated to serving rosé wines. Housing the most comprehensive collection of rosé wines in Singapore, it hopes to precipitate the rising popularity of this sophisticated yet often misunderstood pink style of wine.
Drinking pink has never been so trendy till recently. According to research company Nielsen on wine trends of 2018, consumers are adding rosé to their wine carts as an addition to other wine varieties. With increased production from France, Spain, Italy and the US, there’s never been a better time to try this exciting and tantalising wine.
Contrary to popular belief, rosé is NOT made blending red and white wine. There are several ways in which rose is made and that is not one of them. The most common rosé production method is the maceration of red grape varieties, skin still intact for between 12-24 hours to achieve the blush colour it is known for.
Rosé rules at Pandora’s Garden. Jamie and Jasmine Gripton, husband and wife team owners of Pandora’s Garden and also Brightside on Duxton Hill, has procured a sizeable collection of rosé wines that include Whispering Angel’s L’Esclans Gamus (SGD$535/bottle) named “The Greatest Rosé” ever by James Suckling, one of the world’s most influential wine critic. Ultra rare rosé champagnes such as Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé and 2007 Krug Rosé are available at $1,888 and $888 respectively. A regular glass of rosé starts at $12 per glass or $41 per bottle, magnum (1.5L) and jeroboam (3L) sized formats are also available at an affordable price.

Pandora’s Garden is a hidden gem designed around an ancient Frangipani tree with roots that run deep under Ann Siang House. When night falls, a retractable roof opens up like a box and twinkling fairy lights are turned on to create a magical effect that inspired the name Pandora’s Garden.
Whilst rosé is its main offering with over 35 different selections, specially brewed Pandora’s Craft Ale, in partnership with local brewing company Trouble Brewing, is available on tap and freshly made goblets of Tanqueray botanical gin cocktail offer a spirits alternative. Bar snacks at Pandora’s Garden are specially made to pair well with the drink offerings, expect picnic style food such as cured meats, premium cheeses, British pork pies, homemade Jägermeister paté and a Ploughman’s board, served with artisanal bread, crackers, chutney, fruit and nuts.
Look out for the weekly Blush Ladies Night on Wednesdays in which Bach Rosé, Anna Sparkling Rosé, Aperol Spritz, Pimms and Sangria flow freely for $30+ from 6pm-8pm.

The historic Long Bar of Raffles Hotel returns fully restored and continues its proud tradition as the Home of the Singapore Sling.
The famous counter shines like new amidst decor that marries architecture and contemporary plantation-inspired motifs. Long Bar was located at Cad’s Alley in the early 1900s. At a time when improved rail and road systems brought rubber and palm oil plantation owners over to Singapore from Malaya every weekend, it was known as the ‘Rendezvous of Planters’. Not a formal bar, but rather tables placed next to another facing Bras Basah Road, it was a vantage point from which male visitors surveyed the procession of ladies.
The earthy decor of the two-storey Long Bar is inspired by Malayan life in the 1920s. The deep, rich colours and lush greenery transport patrons to the edge of a tropical plantation. In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere, guests are invited to brush peanut shells off the table and bar counter to the floor. This is quite possibly the only place in Singapore where littering is encouraged!

The Singapore Sling, widely regarded as the national drink, was first created in 1915 by Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. Primarily a gin-based cocktail, the Singapore Sling also contains pineapple juice, lime juice, curaçao and Bénédictine. Giving it the pretty pink hue are grenadine and cherry liqueur. Bartender Ngiam deliberately chose to give the cocktail this rosy colour.
Swing by the newly-reopened Long Bar for your glass of Singapore Sling today.

There’s nothing quite like a Spanish tapas restaurant: its buzz is electric, its flavours an absolute delight, its drinks a tonic for the soul. It’s a place that pulls you in and makes you want to stay... forever.
With its bold makeover, FOC PIM PAM is that magical place; now more than ever.
FOC PIM PAM (meaning ‘quick and easy’ in Spanish) is inspired by the Spanish bodegas and celebrates the vibrant tapas and wine culture of Barcelona with fine, fun food and sensaPonal drinks. Located in a laid-back nook of Orchard Road and already the go-to spot among diners for lunch, dinner and late-night libaPons with a Spanish flair, FOC PIM PAM now offers even more with the refurbishment of its interior.
The ambience is transformed to evoke the irrepressible energy and style of a Spanish tapas bar. The new colour paleUe is an urbane fusion of blacks and greys with Pmber finishes and metal accents. ParPPon walls, display shelves, pillars and counter tops take on rounded corners and languid lines and hum with a hip efficiency. While the funcPonal zones are clearly defined, the layout is open and freewheeling and invites the ceaseless human movement and social acPvity so reminiscent of tapas bars.
As befits Iberian hospitality, the service is fast and friendly, adding to the infecPous vibe. The menu has been re-invigorated. While sPll centering on Spanish cuisine, new menus have been created for each dedicated space within the restaurant.

Desserts like Lemon Lemoncello (limoncello sorbet, meringue), and ‘Chocolate Forest’ (chocolate textures, yogurt, white chocolate passionfruit jelly) will be hard to resist.
Alongside these are familiar favourites, including Croquetas in different fillings (ham, mushroom, crab, and spinach & pine nuts), Squid Ink Paella (tradiPonal Spanish black rice, prawns, aioli), and Churros - classic with chocolate sauce or white chocolate-coated.
The famed Spanish penchant for lush, leisurely dining will work its spell, and the party will surely thereafer adjourn to the newly created alfresco terrace, housed in a ceiling-fanned veranda perched street-side along Orchard Road. Taiwan's most instagrammable bubble tea has arrived in Singapore! Bobii Frutii epitomises beauty in a cup.
Standing out like a beacon among a sea of bubble tea brands is Bobii Frutii, the latest entrant from Taiwan set to take Singapore by storm with its catchy moniker, gorgeous Insta-worthy drinks concocted with tremendous attention to detail, use of top quality ingredients and of course, Singapore Brand Ambassador as well as Creative Director, Nat Ho 鶴天賜.
Nat is also known for his long-standing role in Mediacorp's Channel 5 drama, Tanglin.
The creative drinks and affectionately-termed bobii (tapioca pearls in colloquial Taiwanese) are made with natural ingredients such as butterfly pea extract, fresh milk and fruit juice. In addition, the brand eschews high-fructose corn syrup, and uses only premium brown cane sugar from Taiwan. Customers are also able to choose the level of sweetness for the tea-based drinks at Bobii Frutti.
Bobii Frutii also gets its red tea from Sri Lanka and green tea from Vietnam. The oolong tea leaves and mochi-like bobii are specially imported from the brand’s own farm and factory in Taiwan respectively, for optimum freshness. These high quality bobiis contain no preservatives, additives and artificial colouring.
Combining the industrial style of hipster cafés with the refinement of wood finishing, Bobii Frutii’s standalone kiosk at The Clementi Mall evokes a modern feel.
This takeaway-only outlet's menu in Singapore features 37 different drinks under five categories– a number that makes up almost 80 percent of the selection in Taiwan.
Bobii Frutii was established in Taipei, Taiwan in 2015 by two students with a fondness for bubble tea and hipster café culture. It currently has five outlets, three in Taiwan, one in Shenzhen and one in Singapore. There are plans to open more outlets in across the island in 2018. Bobii Frutii Pte Ltd in Singapore works closely with the Taiwanese team that includes undergoing strict tea-making training to ensure the best customer experience.
Brand Ambassador & Creative Director, Nat has also undergone rigorous training to learn the intricacies of creating the drinks and personally visited the tea plantation in Miaoli, Taiwan – where Bobii Frutii obtains their oolong tea – to understand the full process from farm to cup.
