Great World City is home to Hooga's newest store and they have everything HOOGA-LIC prepared for you to indulge in yourself and the people that you love. From your bedroom to the bathroom, from the dining room to the living room, from the knick knacks to the occasional furniture. Be spoilt for choices when you shop at Hooga for your home.
Hooga (pronounced hue-guh) is a concept of living derived from the Danish word “hygge”. But what is the meaning of hygge? The hygge concept cannot be translated to one single word but it encompasses a feeling of cosy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. With so many cold, dark days during the winter month, the Danes incorporate hygge into their daily life to create a wonderfully warm and cosy atmosphere.
Hygge is the art form of creating intimacy in any given moment. It’s about sitting by the fire with a mug of cocoa, enjoying the company of your loved ones or waking up on a chilly morning, reading a book while you’re all wrapped up in a blanket.
When it comes to embracing the concept, it’s always about creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. Candles, lamps, and fireplaces are among the common uses of lighting. It is common in Scandinavian decor to find candles scattered throughout the space or fairy lights draped across the mantle. Colour palette that is neutral contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and peace. Soft and fluffy textures are some of the key elements in the hygge concept. Think: fluffy pillows and soft rugs. There’s nothing better than snuggling up on the couch with layers of blankets and pillows.
The Danish concept of hygge has spread its warmth across the world and has inspired and influenced their brand – Hooga.

In Liu Yujun's painting series entitled Unidentified Liquid, he has created paintings of Chinese beautiful women. Liu Yujun carefully includes images of blue liquid in a various form in his works. The images of the blue liquid seems to be mysterious and ambiguous as it has no connection with the images of beautiful women. The blue liquid symbolises a sense of insecurity.

Roche Bobois, the French worldwide leading brand in design and distribution of high-end furniture has proudly announced the grand opening of its Singapore showroom with a brand-new design concept. The new showroom spans over 5,300 square-feet and features an expansive floor-to-ceiling window to frame the beautiful selection of Roche Bobois’s best collections in a dynamic space; this elegant showroom opening also marks another milestone in the brand's significant expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
Located at ground level of Boon Siew Building along Bukit Timah Road, the Roche Bobois Singapore Showroom possesses a wide store front to entice passers-by to peek into its luxe interior, which from a distance resembles a jewel box.
The new showroom of Singapore enjoys an incredibly large window that brings visibility and light to the showroom. The focus is indeed to highlight that advantage, and thanks to a mirror illusion, they have created a double exposure that makes the showroom look bigger. Inspiration has been found in the green space in the surroundings. The illusion of an outdoor space within the showroom has been created, giving the impression that indoor and outdoor spaces are a single and same place. The light wood flooring is chosen to go with that peaceful indoor garden ambiance and highlight the gorgeous green wall. While the geometric indoor partition creates an open space, the dark walls disappear to leave the eye attracted by the light, creating depth in the showroom.
Roche Bobois is a ‘story of people’, a ‘family saga’ which is still continuing with descendants of the founders acting as today’scompany directors. It all began with the fateful meeting of two families, the Roches, a family from France with a successful family furniture business since the 1800s, and the Chouchans, immigrants from Russia who in 1950 opened their own furniture showroom in Paris called ‘Au Beau Bois’ (‘beautiful wood’) - a brand name which would later evolve into ‘Bobois’.
Together, they formed a bond with a mission to offer customers high-quality and innovative designs relevant to the time. By theearly 60’s, they had already designed their first collection together. The first Roche Bobois showroom, designed by the visionary architect and designer Pierre Paulin, was opened at the same time on the Boulevard Saint-Germain.
Today, Roche Bobois has more than 265 showrooms in over 55 countries, a true mark of its ambitious, accelerated programme of international growth. After 17 new stores opened in 2017, this growth has continued in 2018 in vibrant cities such as Hanoï, Washington, Tokyo and San Diego among others.
With a growing presence all over the world, Roche Bobois embodies the full diversity of French design. Thanks to its long-established network of European manufacturers and fruitful relationships with talented designers (such as Marcel Wanders, Kenzo Takada, Ora Ito among others) and also with prestigious fashion houses (e.g. Jean Paul Gaultier, Missoni Home), the brand has risen to the challenge of achieving an international presence by offering every client a personalised approach to home design and decor.

The legendary steakhouse, Morton’s, has unveiled a refreshed and contemporary new look following a 3 month renovation.
16 years since the restaurant first opened its doors in Singapore, the time-honoured main dining room, three private dining rooms and Bar 12.21, have all been transformed to reveal a fresh, bright and contemporary space, which exudes sophistication.
The restaurant façade now features French windows which offer an inviting glimpse of the revamp through Bar 12.21 and on to the main dining room beyond. With its lighted bottle display and contemporary chandelier light feature, the chic bar makes an ideal place to rendezvous for aperitifs of signature MORtinis or sample a selection of over 60 whiskies, bourbon and premium spirits.
Over in the main dining room, the use of crisp white paint on the walls is elegantly contrasted against the use of dark wood accents seen in the cornices, window frames and the screen panel features. This is offset by the accents of warm colour tones in the vaulted ceilings; gold in the main dining room and pale blue in the private dining rooms, as well as the use of various textures throughout, such as the brickwork effect stone tiles which frames the showcase kitchen. With a distinct Art Deco feel to the overall design, the restaurant now benefits from a real sense of space - the accumulative result of the removal of the partition between Bar 12.21 and the main dining room; the new wall-to-wall windows that stretch the length of the main dining room; the creative use of mirrors and clean contrasting colour palate, all beneath the warm glow of the bright sparkling chandeliers.
The three private dining rooms, each space unique, follow the clean and contemporary look, and feature distinct pale-blue vaulted ceiling with a cloud mural. New cutlery and glassware completes the overall redesign, not to mention the cherished pig-shaped tabletop oil lamps which have been lovingly restored, and now utilise eco-friendly tealight effect lights.
Oenophiles are sure to delight with the introduction of 52 wine lockers, where you can keep bottles of their favourite vintages, or alternatively, choose from the extensive wine list - many of the bottles which now grace the new showcase wine wall.

Situated in the vibrant and eclectic enclave of Tiong Bahru, the modern and historic juxtaposition of the restaurant atop an art-deco straits settlement boutique hotel fits perfectly with the surroundings.
Born in the year of the rabbit (which explains his choice of restaurant name), Chef Matthew has always been fascinated with cooking since young. Unlike most award-winning chefs, Chef Matthew kept his training local within At-Sunrise Global Chef Academy without any overseas apprenticeship. Similar to Heston Blumenthal, he picks up ideas from his travel experiences and interaction with people.
A combination of classic French techniques along with a touch of Asian and Singaporean flavours, Chef Matthew creates seasonal menus inspired by the 7 characteristics of ‘ENSOPHI’: Exotic, Nostalgia, Soil, Ocean, Pristine, Heritage, Impression. Each element represents a poetic and artistic expression of his dish.
Sourced from little-known boutique vineyards from all over the world, wine labels to pair with each course range from familiar regions like Barossa Valley, Australia and Bordeaux, France to newer regions like Nahe, Germany and Colchagua Valley, Chile. Watch as resident mixologist Aidil shakes up house crafted cocktails and international favourites to kick-start your meal. Enjoy Happy Hour specials and live music from Thursday to Saturday evenings.
With Chef Matthew’s forte in creating and designing, he made a full renovation to the space. The intimate 30-seater indoor dining room is formed around a semi-circle with floor to ceiling glass windows for a 180° view of the city. Complete with an open kitchen concept, diode branches of stars imprinted in the ceiling, and Chef Matthew’s sketches and art sculptures collected from his travels, the stage is set for a gastronomical and artistic experience. The outdoor rooftop terrace seats 26 but offers ample standing space for large-scale events in a lush alfresco garden setting. Chef Matthew has plans to set up a vertical garden around the steel façade. Sip some wine, savour the food and soak in the ambience. The Rabbit Stash offers a multi-sensory dining adventure with a feast for all senses.
After running Singapore’s renowned Expat Auctions for several years, where they handle an eclectic array of furniture and decorative pieces from all over the world on behalf of relocating and redecorating clients, Rob and Jo saw a gap in the market for stylish and quality international homewares and decorator items at a reasonable price. And so Singapore Trading Post was born.
The store name, Singapore Trading Post pays homage to this country’s establishment as a vital trading post for the East India Trading Company in 1819. And they continue this tradition by sourcing carefully selected pieces from old East India Trading Company areas including Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh as well as Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar. Their collection reflects this significant colonial era and is perfect for sourcing distinctive items that will add unique character to your space.
You can't miss this quaint little cafe along Jalan Bukit Ho Swee. You will be greeted with a splash of colour and its vintage decor. After all, Le Halo is not just an all-day breakfast cafe, it is also a vintage shop. In collaboration with Chair-ish The Moments, an online vintage shop that has a small retail space with some of their products beautifully merged together in the café.
The Chinese zodiac animal drawings on the wall are designed by Joseph Wong, a senior manger of a foreign Bank, specially commissioned and shaped like toast in line with the cafe's logo and face left or right in line with feng shui configurations. Its owner Elia Lim is a new kid in the business as well. Everything about the cafe mirrors her own life - bubbly, bright, honest and all heart. She takes the name "Le" from the Chinese character "kuai le" meaning happy. And "halo"? Well, she hopes you taste a bit of heaven in her food creations. It may be a 9-minute walk from Tiong Bahru MRT station but the walk will be worth it.
The Piggy Stew is Le Halo's best selling item so far. Slow cooked to full flavour with generous chunks of pork, it is served with fingers of crispy buttered toast, making them the perfect companion for this dish.
