Answering the calls from loyal CMCR fans, CMCR JC will finally stock its retail shelves with their signature Crunchy Granola alongside a new gluten-free Cacao Granola offering. Also available is a housemade Coffee Caramel sauce that marries salted caramel with CMCR’s Espresso grounds. CMCR’s hand-soap, curated by the team at Spa Esprit, reveals an invigorating scent of Fennel, Lime and Cedar Wood. Indonesian cuisine and its spices need no introduction, having enchanted the world with fiery flavours and fragrant herbs that mark an explosive meal every time. Get ready to delve into more mouth-watering authentic Indonesian cuisine with Tok Tok Indonesian Restaurant that has opened its doors at Joo Chiat Road. Be sure to make a reservation to try this new family dining concept that brings much-loved Indonesian favourites crafted from original family recipes.
Expect classics like the festive Gulai Kambing, a curry mutton soup dish usually had on special occasions simmered for over two hours and then stewed overnight for incomparable flavour; Balinese Ayam Bakar Betutu with chicken rubbed with a traditional genap paste and marinated for half an hour before cooked sous vide in cassava leaves and grilled; and Buntut Bakar Saus Kacang, a contemporary iteration of the Sup Buntut where instead of cooking in a soup, Indonesian buntut is coated with kecap manis then grilled for that smokey char and caramelized flavour. Also available is a Buntut Goreng Sambal Matah, another in-house creation served with homemade Balinese lemongrass chilli salsa.
Other must-haves include the Ketoprak peanut salad of rice cake, beansprouts, fried tofu and vermicelli noodles served with lashings of homemade peanut sauce infused with garlic; Ikan Goreng that’s rubbed with lime for a tart veil and marinated with fresh turmeric, garlic, shallots, coriander seeds and ginger Sundanese style before fried to perfection; and Udang Sambal Pete, a favourite prawn dish cooked with sambal and petai beans, a personal favourite of the restaurant founder.
End the meal on a sweet note with Roti Bakar Coklat Keju and Pisang Goreng Coklat Keju, a classic Jakarta special that sees chocolate condensed milk drizzled over fried banana fritters and topped with chocolate rice and shaved cheese.
