When Avenue 87 opened its doors in September 2020, the restaurant celebrated the culmination of the friendship and the seamless synergy of co-Chef-Founders Glen Tay and Alex Phan. The modern Asian restaurant serves well-known dishes transformed by the memories, travels, and professional discourse of the two chefs. Almost a full year later, the reunited duo presents a brand-new tasting menu and a new bar.
The new tasting menu continues to deliver nostalgia with surprises from Chefs Glen and Alex's creative interpretations of their favourite dishes and flavours. Available in five and seven courses ($98++ and $142++ respectively), they showcase flavours that are meticulously extracted using contemporary techniques to create distinctive nuances and flavour profiles in each dish.

Reflecting Glen and Alex’s preferences at the end of a long day at work, the menu features two drinks specially concocted by the two chefs, as well as classic cocktails that have remained their favourites through the years. Inspired by the Gin & Tonic, the refreshing Botanic ($21++) curated by Alex highlights familiar Asian profiles with Rojak Gin, Melati and Indian Tonic. The Jambu ($21++), a reimagined Cosmopolitan by Glen, combines butter vodka, sherry, rose apple, rose syrup and honey to offer the sweet and creamy flavours of bandung.

Qatar Airways has opened its new Premium Lounge at Terminal 1 of Singapore Changi Airport, marking the airline’s fifth international Premium Lounge. The new 85-passenger capacity lounge is approximately 700 sqm and operates daily from 7:30am to 2:00am.

Qantas has officially opened its newest First Lounge, a luxury space spread over 1,000 sqm at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
The new First Lounge will operate in tandem alongside the airline’s existing International Business Lounge, providing capacity for 240 customers and a bespoke offering for Qantas’ First Class passengers and top tier frequent flyers.
The new build was designed by Australian designer David Caon in collaboration with Kelvin Ho of architecture and design firm Akin Atelie and features a number of Singaporean influences across the look and feel of the lounge as well as the food and beverage offering.
Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said the opening of the new lounge is a reflection of the airline’s extensive premium investment in the region.
“Since our A380 flights have returned to Singapore, we’ve seen an increase in demand for premium travel which has also translated to an increase in the number of travellers enjoying our lounge hospitality.
“This is our fourth Qantas First Lounge, and each time we build an entire new lounge facility from scratch, we speak to our frequent flyers to get a better understanding of how customers like to spend their time in the lounge and tailor it accordingly. Our customers told us their key priorities when travelling through or from Singapore is space to relax and do some last-minute work, a quick shower, and a meal before departure so they can maximise their sleep onboard.”
An open kitchen will serve up a Rockpool a la carte seasonal menu designed with Singapore’s vibrant dining culture in mind.
The lounge also features a cocktail bar with lounge seating, serving French champagne, seasonal spritzes, unique cocktails inspired by Singapore, like a Calamansi Mojito – made from the local Calamansi fruit, Singaporean and Australian beer – and a variety of Australian wine. Qantas has announced a multi-million dollar investment in a new First Lounge and an expansion of the airline’s existing Business Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport.
With development due to start in April 2019, the Singapore First Lounge will offer seating for 240 customers, a luxurious design and premium a la carte dining with Asian-inspired menus.
The existing Business Lounge, which opened in 2013, will also be expanded. Combined, the First and Business Lounges will offer seating for more than 800 customers.
Qantas will work with Chef Neil Perry and Industrial Designer David Caon in collaboration with Akin Atelier, to create a relaxing, high quality environment for passengers to either start their international journey or transit through Singapore. The design will embody a clear focus on sustainability with choices in materials, lighting interior, layouts and amenities all reflecting the highest local and international design techniques.
Set to open towards the end of 2019, the new First Lounge will be designed to suit the specific needs of transit travellers, with shower facilities, a cocktail bar, open kitchen and menu offerings reflecting the best of Singapore’s vibrant dining culture. It will join Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles as Qantas ports with a dedicated First Lounge.
Singapore is Qantas’ largest hub outside of Australia, carrying more than 20 per cent of the airline’s wide body fleet. Qantas operates over 50 return services in to and out of Changi Airport each week, making it one of the largest foreign airlines to operate out of the Singapore airport. From Singapore, Jetstar Group operates 298 weekly return flights to 26 destinations.

At 11,400 square feet across two floors, the store is DFS Group’s largest single retail space for wines, spirits and tobacco. The opening of the store marks a milestone in DFS’ leadership and innovation in retail, and the realization of a new vision for retail at Changi Airport.
Designed by Masamichi Katayama, the award-winning interior designer and founder of design firm Wonderwall, the store showcases the luxury retailer’s full assortment of wines, spirits and tobacco in a visually dramatic store environment and façade inspired by flowing water and undulating shapes. Within the store, warm and modern design elements accentuated by a double-height atrium measuring over eight meters high provides an inviting shopping and tasting environment for travellers.

Of the 400 hand selected whiskies, many are limited editions and directly imported for the bar. The whisky list boasts a strong Scottish presence with a good selection of American bourbons and Japanese whiskies rounding off the collection.
To add special interest, Christoph will host whisky events such as whisky appreciation masterclasses and whisky dinners regularly. He can also create exclusive whisky pairing menus for groups and corporate events of up to 20 people. You can share your individual taste preferences with Christoph who will then customise a dinner menu where courses are paired with different types of single malt whiskies.
Equal attention has been given to the new whisky-led cocktails created by Raffles Singapore Restaurant and Bar Operations Manager Randolph Velasco and his award-winning bartenders. With special skills and knowledge of infused liqueurs and house-made bitters, the team have based the bar’s new concoctions on classic cocktails with a modern twist in Menu highlights include the BBR 1896, a nod to the year the Bar & Billiard Room was established. The complex cocktail is a delight for the senses; the bourbon is first fat-washed in butter for a creamy mouth feel and savoury flavour, mixed with Angostura bitters, smoked with chamomile tea leaves for a subtle, floral aroma and finally garnished with a slice of orange peel.
The Old Nick was a favourite tipple for navy officers who needed some liquid courage before heading out to sea. The Bar & Billiard Room’s version is a combination of Scotch whisky, thyme liqueur, Dom Benedictine, orange and lemon bitters. The comprehensive cocktail menu encompasses other base spirits such as gin, tequila and vodka as well. Look forward to the Miss “H”, Randolph’s take on the ubiquitous martini featuring kiwi, Cointreau, lime, and muddled kiwi fruit.
Bar bites include a selection of sophisticated nibbles and more substantial sharing plates. An array of cold and hot dishes can either be enjoyed as an accompaniment to drinks or as full-fledged meal. Menu highlights include Crabmeat Cigars, shredded fresh crab meat wrapped in vine leaves.
For a sweet finish in keeping with the bar's theme, Chocolate Whisky Stones are available in three different flavours – dark, milk and white chocolate. The chocolate is first melted down and infused with whisky before being placed in moulds to resemble the whisky stones commonly used to chill the spirit without diluting the drink.
The Bar & Billiard Room also houses one of the five original billiard tables from the turn of the century and you are invited to have a game over drinks. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the bar will feature live jazz.
