The Whale Tea, one of the largest beverage and dessert stores in China, has swum to the shores of sunny Singapore!
Created in Nanjing, China, The Whale Tea has propelled itself to be one of the trendiest beverage and dessert brand in China with its attractive and insta-worthy products, launching more than 500 outlets across the mainland since its first store debuted on 28 June 2018.
The Whale Tea’s innovative signature series is both flavourful and aesthetically pleasing, prepared with uncommon ingredients such as peach gum, a natural resin from wild Chinese peach trees, known to be rich in amino acids and collagen; spirulina, a seaweed-based superfood consumed for its nutrient-rich properties; and Wuliangye, a Chinese alcohol made with a variety of grains.
The word from the bird is that this new 'rock around the clock' diner is where to be for burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, milkshakes, floats, sundaes, and ice cream, and finger-snapping fun for the whole family.
Step in and be transported to Singapore’s heydays with retro touches that extend from the furnishing and interior décor to the menu. Enjoy all these in a classic diner setting from the ‘50s complete with accent wall tiles, silestone table and counter tops, and ceramic mosaic flooring, where vintage posters and neon lights will have you reliving the best of the era.
Find this blast from the past nestled between other vibrant dining options at Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski, located right where the legendary Capitol Theatre and Capitol Building are located.
What are you waiting for, guys and dolls? Capitol Milk Bar beckons!
They treasure special memories here at Capitol Milk Bar, that’s why they have dedicated many of their burgers to some key people from the history of the Capitol Theatre.
Like silent screen legend Charlie Chapman and his brother Sydney who visited with Capitol Theatre’s Joe and Julius S. Fisher in 1932. Then there’s Douglas Fairbanks, one of the first movie stars to visit Singapore. During his 1935 visit he came to The Capitol to watch the film David Copperfield (1935) with Lady Sylvia Ashley.
Even Hollywood’s most irresistible woman Ava Gardner made an appearance here in 1954. She was in town to promote her new film, The Barefoot Contessa and attended a private dinner right here at the Capitol hosted by the Shaw Brothers who had taken over a damaged and neglected theatre after WW11. They repaired and restored her to former glory, also adding the now iconic neon sign. And let’s not forget that fun little fellow who entertained young Singaporeans with weekly matinee cartoons every Saturday from 1933 – Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse.
Many have fond memories of the popular Magnolia Snack Bar. Opening first as the ‘Creameries Milk Bar’ in the Capitol Building in the 1940s, they served ice creams, milkshakes and cakes. It was a hit with Singaporeans both young and old for social gatherings and post-movie bites. Magnolia Snack Bar closed in the late 1980’s but we have brought back the sweetness…
Strike Me Pink was a 1936 American musical comedy starring Ethel Merman – the undisputed First Lady of the musical comedy stage. We named our take on the local classic chendol dessert “Singapore Dash” a reference to Douglas Fairbanks and his “high-speed visits” to Singapore. And, The Jungle Book as a dedication to author Rudyard Kipling who made many trips to Singapore. Imagine being in the theatre in 1942 to watch the classic on the big screen after they turned it into Technicolor action-adventure film!

Density brings to you the first-ever frozen custard store in Singapore - for a super-premium ice cream experience.
Sporting an industrial-chic look with grey cement flooring and walls, lowly hung light bulbs and refurbished metal furniture from a vintage store, Density's interior décor draws its inspiration from the industrial look of the Chicago 1933 World's Fair, which introduced frozen custard to the greater public.
Frozen Custard contains only half the amount of sugar of a regular frozen yogurt. Because of its low overrun and high butterfat content, there is less need for sugar. This makes them a healthier dessert choice, as frozen custards are lower in calories and sugar and uses natural ingredients such as milk and egg yolks.
