The Cantonese and Sichuan journey begins at the eye-catching entrance where one isimmediately drawn to the traditional Chinese ‘Shan Shui’ (landscape) painting within a fullmoon that depicts mountains, a flock of birds and a passing boat. This tranquil scene is framed by timbre panels cleverly placed to resemble the gradient of mountains. The moon also symbolises reunion, abundance and harmony. Most significantly, this restaurant is where loved ones can partake in a cosy gathering over an excellent meal. Dark wood furniture is complemented by splashes of bold colour on the walls, and vermillion ‘brushstrokes’ on the carpet.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has opened its Singapore Office which marks a new stage in the expansion of ADB’s private sector operations. It will be a lean and focused office comprising 12 specialists from ADB’s Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) and Office of Public–Private Partnership, working in a range of sectors including infrastructure, financial institutions, agribusiness, health and education, trade finance, private equity, and cofinancing. The office is led by Sonali Tang, who has worked at ADB for 5 years in various senior roles.
ADB’s private sector operations promote the investment of private capital for development purposes. Last year, PSOD completed 38 transactions, around one-fifth of ADB’s total operations by number. ADB aims to increase this to one-third of total operations by 2024. The office will make it easier for ADB to efficiently engage with clients, project sponsors, contractors, advisors, financiers, other international finance institutions, and professional service providers.
Singapore was a founding member of ADB in 1966. It borrowed from ADB until 1980 and graduated formally from borrowing in 1998. Since 2001, Singapore has contributed to ADB’s concessional fund, the Asian Development Fund, as well as the Technical Assistance Special Fund. In 2012, ADB and Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance knowledge sharing and cooperation in governance and public policy, private sector development, climate change, and infrastructure and urban development. Singapore is an active participant in the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund that is supported by ADB.
ADB is committed to achieving a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific, while sustaining its efforts to eradicate extreme poverty. Established in 1966, it is owned by 68 members—49 from the region.

Ramen Champion is proud to announce that it will now house Gyumaru at its Bugis+ enclave. Gyumaru is the first ramen restaurant in Singapore to serve Gyukotsu Ramen (beef bone ramen), which is a rare dish in the ramen world.
A riff on the popular tonkotsu, the fully emulsified broth of the Gyukotsu Ramen boasts a clear consistency and a pronounced piquant flavour of beef fat. Relish the palate-enveloping note of the beef broth, which is made with beef bone and oxtail. The entire preparation takes two days to complete — the broth is first boiled for nine hours, before it is cooled and refrigerated for it to set into a thick and flavourful concentrate. Each beef broth cube is then simmered over low heat before it is served.
The broth is accompanied with springy thin noodles custom-made from a local Japanese noodle making specialist — for the doneness, there are two options to choose from: soft and hard. Thick tender cubes of well-marbled ribeye sourced domestically from a halal-certified supplier are placed atop the ribbons of al-dente noodles. Other ingredients including green onions and Japanese leek contribute delicate notes to the overall dish. Top the dish with the optional coriander for a local twist and additional fragrant lift!
Gyumaru is in the process of receiving its Halal certification — Muslim gourmands can very soon enjoy non-pork ramen!

Previously known as Shelter for Men-in-Crisis, Transit Point on Spooner Road is New Hope Community Services' (NHCS) shelter for male former offenders.
The new location near Outram Park MRT station has a range of new facilities and room for up to 60 residents.
Transit Point is funded by the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises, a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The shelter's previous location at a rented bungalow in Punggol could cater for only 20 to 25 residents.
The Shelter for Men-in-Crisis began operating in 2003 and provides temporary housing to ex-offenders. These ex-offenders might have been rejected by their families for various reasons or not have a conducive home environment for their return. NHCS believes in giving them a second chance and assisting them to rebuild their lives, so that they can reintegrate into the society. At the shelter, the duration of stay is 3 months. During this period, the Case Managers will work with the residents to develop an Individualized Care Plan focusing on their employment and long term or permanent housing solutions.

Synonymous with creativity and color, Pomellato was founded in Milan in 1967 by Pino Rabolini – the heir to his family’s goldsmith legacy. Introducing the prêt-à-porter philosophy to the traditionally conservative world of jewelry.
Rabolini revolutionized women’s fashion choices while shaping Pomellato with a powerful, fashion-forward identity. Fifty years later, his jubilant, distinctive designs have grown to be revered both in Italy and across the international jewelry landscape.

Expressing an avant-garde, original approach, Pomellato’s sophisticated colored stone combinations feature peculiar gem cuts and visionary designs. CapitaLand has unveiled the highly-anticipated design of One Pearl Bank perched atop the verdant Pearl’s Hill. The development comprises two gently curving 39-storey towers linked at the roof by dramatic sky bridges. The slender, curved facades create a light and airy effect, providing ample space for residents and onlookers to look out and through the towers to admire the stunning views atop the hill. Towering at 178 metres, One Pearl Bank will be the tallest residential development in the Outram-Chinatown district in Central Singapore, offering panoramic views that extend from the Central Business District to Sentosa.
Designed by multi award-winning Serie+Multiply, a joint venture between London-based Serie Architects and Singapore-based Multiply Architects, the new scheme elevates the concept of high-rise living with a total of 774 apartments. It will support more urbanites in leading their dream city lifestyles at this prime location, in line with the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s vision to develop more homes in Singapore’s Central Area. A wide selection of unit types from studio apartments to penthouses, ranging in size from approximately 430 to 2,800 sq ft, will be made available.
Adding to its allure, One Pearl Bank will feature a world-first – a series of sky allotment gardens arrayed vertically at one edge of each tower. With each tower featuring an allotment garden every four storeys and each garden housing 11 plots, One Pearl Bank will have a total of 18 sky allotment gardens with close to 200 plots where residents can grow their own herbs, fruits and vegetables. The beautifully-appointed allotment gardens not only support urban farming, they offer spaces to promote community bonding. Visible from the city centre, they make a powerful visual statement on One Pearl Bank’s biophilic design that integrates nature to enrich residents’ quality of life. These allotment gardens are further complemented by two sky terraces and two roof gardens across the two towers and a sunken planter in every balcony to maximise the greenery on the development’s facade. Ho Fook Hei at Great World City is Joyden Concepts' newest restaurant. Ho Fook Hei’s cooked-to-perfection Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken is prepared the traditional Cantonese way, using a time-honoured recipe passed down through the years.
The Cantonese have a saying that “a meal is not complete without having chicken”. The chicken symbolises not only prosperity, but also good fortune (“ho fook hei” in Cantonese), and is a must-have especially during festive occasions and celebrations. “Soy Sauce Chicken” was said to have been created over a hundred years ago in Guangdong Province, when a master chef from out of town sought to spice up the way the Cantonese traditionally poached chicken at a famous local restaurant, substituting bland water with a fragrant soy sauce based braising liquid, resulting in a flavourful dish that has become synonymous with Cantonese cuisine.
Ho Fook Hei’s Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken is prepared the traditional Cantonese way, using a time-honoured recipe passed down through the years. Poached in an aromatic braising liquid of superior soy sauce and a secret blend of Chinese herbs and spices resulting in a chicken that is flavourful to the bone with a hint of their signature rose wine fragrance.

Resident bar manager Anton Gornev uses modern techniques to recreate classic drinks infused with local and Asian flavours. Originally from St Petersburg, Russia, Anton brings with him a wealth of international experience having competed in competitions across the globe. Employing gastronomy techniques such as fat-washing, sous vide infusion, milk clarification, and even using a bee smoker, Anton’s inventive style adds a layer of depth to b bar’s cocktails. Apart from a change of menus, b bar’s interior decor and uniforms will be updated accordingly to bring a new take to the experience.
Sharing his inspiration behind the current theme of New Age Classics, “As a bar that’s just opening, I wanted to shine a spotlight on classic cocktails to showcase how bartending began and evolved, but with my own modern take. habitat by honestbee is an exciting playground of exotic flavours and fresh ingredients that have inspired me to take on new concoctions.”

b bar is hidden beyond the Wine and Spirits alley of habitat by honestbee, serving as an element of surprise behind the illusive mirror. Colours and geometries give the shelving its own character with brass and stone adding to the richness of textural qualities of the space.
Those looking to ease back this month will be able to indulge in b bar’s low ABV (alcohol by volume) cocktails which pack more flavour than potency. To provide guests with more options, b bar’s menu is categorised into low to high ABV cocktails to suit any occasion. Not to be missed at b bar is Anton’s signature cocktail, Bienvenido, which is a Top 3 finalist in the 2018/2019 Bacardi Legacy competition. Also look out for Milky Whey, a classic milk punch cocktail made with a secret natural cola recipe comprising 15 ingredients, including dried lavender and coriander. More than your average mocktail, b bar’s non-alcoholic cocktails are complex and nuanced. Made with habitat by honestbee’s cold brew coffee from Hinoki and homemade kaya from Lazy Loaf, the Cold Brew Colada is a spin on the traditional Pina Colada.

Tucked away in NewGen Retail concept habitat by honestbee, lies two exciting entrants set to shake up Singapore’s dining scene and change your notion of a grocery and dining destination. Introducing oyster and seafood bar hama hama, which brings Asian-inspired small plates and progressive cocktail bar b bar - habitat by honestbee's answer to a speakeasy that's beyond their famous mirrored cul-de-sac Wine and Spirits alley.
Conceptualised by Chef De Cuisine Vincent Ng, hama hama injects a rustic elegance into its seasonal sharing menu. With oysters as the main draw, choose from nine different types that range from French to Irish, including two house specials. hama hama 'pimps' oysters with five cooking styles that range from light (a cincau-like lemon and hot sauce jelly) to a crunchy bite (breadcrumbs with mentaiko aioli).

With its white and blue tiles and gold and brass accents, hama hama is a stylish kitchen and bar for seafood lovers. The main show-kitchen at the back and counter kitchen give guests first class seats to an intimate dining experience. With the ocean’s best catch of the day, guests can start off with the Truffle Udon made with shio kombu, packed with umami goodness in a truffle oil emulsion. The Bouchot Mussels are also a must-try - Chef Vincent uses hae bee hiam (dried shrimp) powder, dehydrated and made from scratch, served with deep fried hor fun strips.
“With Singapore’s hot and humid weather, I like to present dishes that are lighter and more refreshing on the palate,” says Chef Vincent Ng. “We really wanted to put a modern spin on fresh seafood, without overcomplicating things and keeping the flavours simple and clean. Think casual fine dining with the use of Asian ingredients and European techniques. Desserts take you back in time with some nostalgia twists.
Once your appetites have been satiated at hama hama, hit up their b bar which is just a few steps away and in a hidden spot in an unassuming neighbourhood.

The restaurant name "Arbora" is an eponym for Latin word "Arbor", which refers to trees. The inspiration for this name is found in its distinguished location: Arbora is surrounded by Mount Faber Park - one ofSingapore’s earliest parks - which sprawls over 40 hectares of verdant treetops and home to a variety of flora and fauna.
Guests can look forward to a (re)treat at Arbora, which offers an all-day dining menu with 35 selections that includes delectable starters, entrees and desserts created by Executive Chef Kenny Yeo. A local master chef with over three decades of culinary experience from stints at Le Centenaire, a Michelin 3- Star Hotel in France and the French kitchen of JQ Concepts Pte Ltd in Taipei, Chef Kenny is also the one who inspired the European tapas menu at the successful Dusk Restaurant & Bar, a sister restaurant located on Faber Peak.
Arbora's menu caters to all-day casual dining with a selection of Western favourites. Guests can expectsome twists in Chef Kenny’s creations: the Rack of Lamb (S$36++) is served with homemade prune sauce instead of mint jelly, and the Fisherman's Stew (S$42++), a tomato-based seafood broth, includes slow-cooked tender baby abalones that whet the appetite of Asian palates.
Arbora offers a variety of refreshing drinks that will surely spoil the guests with choices. From fresh-pressed juices, craft beers to botanical-inspired cocktails, Arbora is an ideal place to hang out for the health-conscious, as well as craft beer lovers and cocktail connoisseurs.

Their classes sculpt every muscle, burn major calories and sometimes help you get in touch with your inner badass! With new routines, your body keeps learning, burning, evolving and you stay sharp.
Their characteristic intensity ‘shocks’ your body and makes sure things do not get boring and your body keeps burning calories. Their bodies adapt to routines quickly and start reaching plateaus, aka it no longer burn calories the same way. Hence Beat X was created to help you beat your own limits.

Hoshino Coffee, is renowned for its retro Japanese-Western café offering of hand-drip coffee and fluffy pancakes. They've just opened their 7th outlet here at OneKM Mall in Tanjong Katong.
Housed on the second floor of OneKM Mall, residents and executives in the eastern part of Singapore can now experience Hoshino’s signature retro European atmosphere interlaced with Japanese elements.
Hoshino Coffee, which was established in 2011, has more than two hundred outlets in Japan. Singapore is its first overseas foray, with seven outlets now and remains a key market to serve as a springboard into other South East Asian countries.
Since opening its first outlet in Singapore in 2012 in Plaza Singapura, Hoshino has been gaining popularity with the local clientele who visit the various outlets for the carefully prepared hand-dripped coffee, the Fuwa Fuwa Souffle, Omu Rice and fluffy Pancakes. As Hoshino places customer experience as priority, feedback suggests that it is timely for it to expand its presence out from central Singapore to the heartlands.
In this connection, OneKM Mall in Tanjong Katong, has been selected after careful consideration, as the first Hoshino Coffee outlet to be set up in the eastern part of Singapore. Serving both the residential as well as office base, OneKM is near Paya Lebar MRT and targets aspirational urbanites and families living in East Coast as well as the students and working executives in the area.
Customers in the east can conveniently drop in to enjoy Hoshino’s old world charm in a nostalgic setting replete with dark wood, leather seats and servers dressed as butlers.

Their concept of a “factory filled with creativity and innovation” was born in Japan in 2011. Morozoff is one of Japan’s leading luxury confectionery makers, starting from a chocolate shop in Kobe in 1931. And it is making its comeback to our sunny island after 14 years, with the opening of a stand-alone boutique at Plaza Singapura.
The brand had been previously available in Singapore from 1984 at the Japanese department store Daimaru at Liang Court. After Daimaru closed in 2003, Morozoff left the market as well.
The chocolatier has more than 1000 shops and 33 cafes in Japan and is also available in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. The Singapore store is its 19th overseas outlet and will sell 90 per cent of Morozoff’s full range of products including chocolates, cookies and packaged baked goods such as madeleines.

Established in 2013 in the historic and iconic Tokyo Station æ±äº¬é§… (Gransta section) in Marunouchi district, Japan, The Maple Mania story is one of growing up in America’s Golden Age, the culture and arts booming with music and film, it was a bright, vibrant, dream-filled era. Their hero is a boy who loves mischief and maple sweets, and keeps a bottle of maple syrup with him, just like the grown-ups who keep flasks of whiskey in their coat pockets. When no one was looking, he’d snatch the maple syrup from the cupboard, stash it in his pockets and sneak licks while walking the dog or climbing trees in the backyard.
Each sweet item offered by The Maple Mania contains that sense of play, adventure, mischief and nostalgia.
They take pride in their attention to the ingredients used in their range of products. Their signature ingredient is their Pure Maple Syrup, which is directly sourced from Quebec, Canada.

The Tuas Viaduct is Singapore’s first twin-tier road-rail integrated viaduct, and is part of the Tuas West Extension project. The Land Transport Authority will open the Tuas Viaduct from 6am on Saturday, 18 February 2017, to enhance transport connectivity to businesses in Tuas.
The 4.8km viaduct will provide a faster route to Tuas South by allowing motorists to bypass Pioneer Road. The completed viaduct provides better transport connections for the future Tuas Port, and other upcoming industrial developments within the area.
This ambitious project saw several construction challengs such as the diversion of major utilities serving Tuas and piling for the support columns that went as deep as 60m into the ground.
