9 Penang Road is a new Grade A commercial building which is undertaken through a joint venture with Haiyi Holdings Pte Ltd, Singhaiyi Group Ltd and Suntec Real Estate Investment Trust, with an interest of 35.0%, 35.0% and 30.0% respectively.
The new ten-storey building consists of two wings with an approximate net lettable area of 352,000 sq ft of office space across eight floors and 15,000 sq ft of retail space at the first level.
The development is situated at the former Park Mall site which the Manger divested in December 2015 as part of its proactive portfolio management strategy. The premise was taken back in end September 2016 and development works for 9 Penang Road commenced on 1 December 2016 and is currently undergoing construction works.
As at end December 2017, the construction works was approximately 19% completed. The development is estimated to cost approximately S$800 million and the building is scheduled to complete by end 2019.

CapitaSpring which broke ground for construction in February 2018, will be one of the tallest and greenest buildings in Raffles Place, with integrated commercial and community spaces and a City Room at the ground floor. Community events such as fitness sessions and lunchtime performances can be held at the City Room, which will blend into a 12,500 sq ft public park. Stallholders from the well-loved Market Street Food Centre will return to the new food centre at CapitaSpring upon the building’s completion.
Asia’s foremost design collective, Paperspace, has launched Paperwork Singapore, its third co-creation space following highly successful launches in Manila and Bangkok.
Housed in the National Design Centre (NDC), Paperwork aims to be a hub for design-preneurs to facilitate greater collaboration and innovation within the design industry. The multi-functional space will also showcase furniture, art and design brands from around the world, making Paperwork the first of its kind in Singapore.

Paperwork is the brainchild of Paperspace founders Narita Cheah (Singapore), Sombat Ngamchlermsak (Thailand) and Karen Calalec (The Philippines), born out of a need to provide a working space to support the collaborative nature of Paperspace’s design partners. It is now the design collective’s new office and set to be a think-tank for developing new, comprehensive design through non-traditional practices and technology.
New and existing local and international design studios and creatives, such as Graphite Studio, Independent Consultants, Just Sketch, M.lab Project and Studio of Design have already taken up tenancy at Paperwork - a testament to the design collective’s strong clout within the industry.
Spanning 3,500 square feet with seating capacity of 60, Paperwork has been thoughtfully designed to foster seamless exchanges and work flows. The space was designed not by one designer, but collectively by the members of Paperspace, in a creative exchange of ideas with the various designers and external design brands who were invited to showcase specific items within the space.
