Japan’s largest train operator East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will open retail shops in 27 of the 32 stations on the future Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL). Operations is slated in phases from the end of this year.
The 43km TEL will add 32 new stations to the existing rail network, including eight interchange stations linking the TEL to all five existing MRT lines. Besides enhancing connectivity between the north, central and eastern parts of Singapore, TEL will strengthen the resilience of our rail network by providing alternative travel routes for commuters on other lines.
When fully operational in 2024, the TEL is expected to serve approximately 500,000 commuters daily in the initial years, with the figure rising to about one million commuters in the longer term.

The Land Transport Authority will add a new station to the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) within walking distance of the upcoming Founders’ Memorial in the Marina Bay area.
The Founders’ Memorial station, located between Tanjong Rhu and Gardens by the Bay stations along the TEL, will improve accessibility for visitors to the Bay East Garden, where the memorial will be located. The station will also serve upcoming residential and recreational developments in the area.

The southbound section of the Lornie Highway has been completed and is now open to traffic. This section of Lornie Highway is parallel to Lornie Road and facilitates traffic flow from the existing Thomson Road/Lornie Road towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE)/Adam Road/Farrer Road.
A new vehicular underpass constructed near the entrance of the highway will allow motorists to access the residential area along Lornie Road, while a temporary road connection near Sime Road has been constructed to connect traffic from the existing southbound Lornie Road to southbound Lornie Highway.
With the opening of southbound Lornie Highway, motorists heading towards PIE, Adam Road and Farrer Road are advised to use the new Lornie Highway to reach their destinations.

Allium Healthcare Holdings’s maiden nursing home project 'Allium Care Suites' on Venus Drive will be the first nursing home in Singapore comprising only single and double en suite rooms. The facility is expected to be ready in Q1 of 2019 The 129-bed, four-storey nursing home is designed to be more like private residences, such as apartments and condominiums. The facility is expected to be ready in Q1 of 2019.
Allium paid $24.3 million for the 4,000 sq m & 30-year leasehold site. The development cost of the project is estimated to be $40 million to $45 million.
Facilities include spa and hydrotherapy pools, as well as pool pavilions to allow residents to mingle among themselves and also with non-residents from the neighbourhood. Consultants from Australia and Japan have been engaged to design the nursing home and its interiors. Japanese construction company Tokyu Construction is the contractor for the project. While the space is designed to be efficient, it also takes into consideration natural light, good ventilation and healing elements.

After being closed for nearly three years, Novena Church which is also known as Church of St Alphonsus, one of Singapore's most popular Catholic churches, will finally reopen soon.
