More than 1,000 new trees comprising over 80 species have been planted in the Garden, enriching its biodiversity. Learning about plants and the environment is also part and parcel of a walk in the Yunnan Garden, which is designed around sustainability principles. The plant varietals in the mini gardens have been carefully chosen for their educational values, be it for their use as renewable energy sources or as sustainable alternatives to plastics, or their ability to remove pollutants from the air, soil and water.
The water features in the Garden are designed to create a stormwater management system that purifies rainwater before releasing it into larger ponds and reservoirs through drains and canals.
Integrating these lessons into the Yunnan Garden experience is part of NTU’s commitment to raising awareness about environmental sustainability.

KOMA, a brand new Japanese restaurant and sushi bar by leading hospitality company TAO Group, is set to satiate guests with an elevated dining experience when it opens at Marina Bay Sands on 26 July.
The restaurant will offer diners with a modern interpretation of Japanese cuisine, featuring original creations by its Executive Chef Kunihiro Moroi, using fresh and seasonal produce and ingredients from Japan.

Las Vegas Sands has released an official announcement on a bold expansion plan for Marina Bay Sands in Singapore which will see the world’s most successful and recognizable integrated resort add significant new tourism offerings to the property. The origins of the name lie in its very roots: Moncler is in fact an abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. Here, in 1952 inspired entrepreneurs René Ramillon and Andrè Vincent founded the Company which would go on to produce the renowned down jacket.
In the beginning Moncler only made quilted sleeping bags, a single model of a lined hooded cape and tents with a telescopic structure and an external flysheet. The Design Competition seeks to generate new and fresh ideas and secure the best design for St John's Home new five-storey building, providing facilities and services not only to its present residents but to the elderly living in the surrounding precincts i.e. Sennett Estate, Potong Pasir, Joo Seng and Bidadari Town. The Home is envisaged to be an integrated service facility centre serving the needs of the elderly in the community, possibly working with other service providers, complementing the Home as a Sheltered Home.
This two-staged competition saw 52 entries, where seven were shortlisted. And Aamer Architects' serrated profile plan and well-thought-out design was selected as the winning entry.

Over the years, the Home has the privilege to look after hundreds of elderly who:
Are no longer able to care for themselves due to age or physical/mental problems;
Have no immediate family or whose family members have passed away, or who themselves are elderly and thus unable to provide care;
Have severe conflict within members of the family;
Have limited or no financial resources making commercial residential Homes unaffordable.
It is estimated that the new building will cost $15 million. As at June 2018, they have $10 million in their reserve, after paying the Lease Renewal Premium for the land. They depend on the community to raise the remaining $5 million required in stages, as the building moves towards completion by December 2020.

Customers are also able to choose the level of sweetness for the tea-based drinks at Bobii Frutti.
Bobii Frutii also gets its red tea from Sri Lanka and green tea from Vietnam. The oolong tea leaves and mochi-like bobii are specially imported from the brand’s own farm and factory in Taiwan respectively, for optimum freshness. This takeaway-only outlet's menu in Singapore features 37 different drinks under five categories– a number that makes up almost 80 percent of the selection in Taiwan.
Bobii Frutii was established in Taipei, Taiwan in 2015 by two students with a fondness for bubble tea and hipster café culture. It currently has five outlets, three in Taiwan, one in Shenzhen and one in Singapore. There are plans to open more outlets in across the island in 2018. Bobii Frutii Pte Ltd in Singapore works closely with the Taiwanese team that includes undergoing strict tea-making training to ensure the best customer experience.

Designed by architectural firm Ong and Ong, the new Gateway Theatre is a multi-theatre venue located in the heart of Bukit Merah Central.
An arts venue built by the Faith Community Baptist Church (FCBC), the Gateway Theatre project cost over $50 million to complete. It aims to be a creative arts space that promotes Made-In-Singapore works and talents of all cultures, while developing an appreciation of the arts within the heartlands of Bukit Merah and in Singapore.
The Gateway Theatre occupies the site of the former Touch Community Theatre. A wall dating back to the Dhalit cinema which first stood there has been repurposed into a decorative feature of the Sky Garden.
The space is operated by production entertainment company Gateway Entertainment, which is helmed by Faith Community Baptist Church's pastor Lawrence Khong and his daughter Priscilla.
Its two main venues are the 930-seat Main Theatre and the 200-seat modular Black Box theatre. Within the building are two studio spaces for multi-purpose use, an outdoor roof garden and small balcony gardens for open-air performances. Gateway Theatre aims to fill this building with performances big and small, of various genres and styles.
One of its kind, Gateway Theatre’s Sky Garden is a unique green space in the middle of the Bukit Merah heartland that is landscaped with manicured lawns, shade trees, a water feature and an outdoor stage. Marina Bay Sands's new permanent attraction, Digital Light Canvas, will take immersive experiences to new heights through a multi-sensory combination of technology and digital art. It will be unveiled on 22 December in time for the festive holidays.
Located at the North Promenade of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands1, this permanent attraction is commissioned to multi-award winning Japanese art collective teamLab, who also created the landmark Future World: Where Art Meets Science exhibition at ArtScience Museum.
The new attraction, which took about two years from conception to completion, will feature teamLab’s proprietary 4D vision display technology in the form of a magnificent 14-metre tall light sculpture suspended from the ceiling. More than 401,000 full-coloured LEDs are strung within 608 tubes hanging within the cylindrical sculpture. The National Environment Agency (NEA) has appointed Timbre Group as the managing agent for the Yishun Park hawker centre. Timbre Group’s proposal was selected following the evaluation of the five proposals received for NEA’s call for tender for the management of the hawker centre made in February 2017. The proposal by Timbre Group showed a strong emphasis on social objectives, had various productivity measures, and comprised innovative solutions to ensure the vibrancy of the hawker centre. Timbre Group was set up in 2005, and they have a wide experience in the local food and beverage industry.
NEA has been exploring various alternative management models for hawker centres by engaging socially-conscious operators as managing agents. The experience of these operators in food and beverage operations, as well as property and lease management, can help improve the operational efficiency of hawker centres. They can also help enhance the dining experience at hawker centres while ensuring good quality and affordable food. Socially-conscious operators may also be more flexible and better able to provide centre-specific solutions to address issues which vary from centre to centre.
