Stewing during months of closure due to Singapore’s circuit breaker measures, Barbary Coast has reopened its downstairs venue, Deadfall, with new menus, new vibes and new hours.
Expanding beyond the initial opening menu, Deadfall II offers a comprehensive all-day dining menu with delicious, affordable and approachable dishes. Starting with snacks and bar bites under “Today’s Pickings”, highlights include the highly addictiveFive Dolla’ Slider (you guessed it, S$5++) with lamb merguez on a Deadfall bakery bun, dressed with Tzatziki and baby rocket, and the indulgent Spinach & Artichoke Dip (S$14++) with baby spinach, roasted artichoke and Cynar cream cheese. For heartier fare, options include original favourites such as the TTW Sando (S$17++) with a choice of smoked ham or beef pastrami served on a tater tot waffle with salsa roja, Chef’s sauerkraut and smokey cheddar and the House Nachos with a choice of chili con vegetarian “carne” or beef carne (S$12++ for small / S$25++ for family size), toppings and bottomless queso. The food menu also features new additions such as the 200g grass-fed Australian Ribeye (S$28++) served with chimichurri, andPoutine (S$12++), the Canadian dream with golden fries, smoked cheese curds and beef jus. Those in the know may opt to order off the “secret menu” – you’ll have to ask to find out more.
The drinks menu has expanded to offer eight affordable, creative cocktails which stay true to the original colour-inspired concept, alongside a selection of classics from around the world (all cocktails at S$20++). For a more interactive experience, ask for the paper fortune teller menu, aka “The Click Clack”, which offers a fun way to choose your colourful cocktail based on your mood and desires. Cocktails are accompanied by the “Beer, Wine and Grog” menu offering a curated selection of wine and prosecco (all glasses S$16++, all bottles $60++), Billecart-Salmon Brut Champagne (S$100++ per bottle), ice-cold draft beer (S$6 / S$10 NETT) and canned beer and bottled cider (S$14++).
As the sun sets, the casual, open-air café and pub transforms into a more intimate, hidden away venue with one central entrance to facilitate safe check-in and contract tracing. Guests can enjoy table or bar seating for groups up to five, all with safe distancing measures in place.
Deadfall at Barbary Coast is now open from 3pm Monday through Friday, 4.30pm on Saturdays (still closing at 10:30pm due to government restrictions) with power points and free wi-fi to facilitate remote work during the day. In accordance with Singapore’s phase two reopening requirements, Deadfall will close at 10:30 p.m. nightly. Takeaway is available while kitchen is open, with dinner service from 4.30pm to close (Monday through Saturday), with lunch service from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. (weekdays) and dinner service from 4:30 p.m. to close (Monday through Saturday). Co-founder, Shawn Kishore shares, “We wanted to showcase the region’s rich array ofdelicacies in a unique way. Everything from the ingredients used, cooking techniques, ambience, down to the last vessel that my team and I personally moulded and hand-painted, creates an unforgettable experience”.

Drawing strong culinary influences from countries along the Silk Road from Southern Italy to Western China, The Nomads redefines Central Asian cuisine by incorporating a unique spin to traditional dishes using familiar South-east Asian flavours.
Shawn and Executive Chef Dannel Krishnan aim to shake-up Singapore’s vibrant culinary scene with what The Nomads has to offer. “Aside from paying homage to traditional dishes and ingredients found along the Silk Road, the menu also represents our sojourn in Kazakhstan, where we were fortunate enough to have tasted some incredible food and experienced wonderful hospitality. It is our wish that our guests enjoy the same.” says Chef Dannel, who also spent time cooking there.

The first standalone venue owned and operated by industry veterans Michael Callahan and Celia Schoonraad, Barbary Coast is inspired by the district in San Francisco of the same name during the mid-1800s. Located on the corner of North Canal and Lor Telok, Barbary Coast spans two floors of three historic shophouses in a landmark building with an original land lease dating back to the early 1800s.
The lower level of the space, Deadfall, is inspired by a relaxed, approachable neighbourhood watering hole, a style of bar that could be found littered throughout the original Barbary Coast. On the other end of the spectrum, the upper level is known as Barbary Coast Ballroom – highbrow and elegant, equally exclusive as it is unpredictable. With two unique concepts under one roof, Barbary Coast is a welcomed addition to Singapore’s Boat Quay neighbourhood offering something for everyone.

Izy was an urban contemporary Izakaya Bar serving quality Japanese fare to hardworking young working professionals on Club Street. In her 2019 rebrand, Izy Fook aims to provide top Singaporean dishes alongside key Cantonese delights in a newly renovated space, promoting a revived and rowdy drinking culture.
Together, Izy Fook, cheekily translating as “together, lets prosper” is a hip Japanese kitchen inspired by old school Singapore Cantonese restaurants and the energy of late night Chinatown watering holes back in the 1970s Singapore. Izy Fook takes a creative approach towards incorporating the roasted and charred Cantonese meats into quality Izakaya classing dishes.
The “Living Room” occupies the front portion of the restaurant and showcases a series of brand new art pieces from Hong Kong’s hottest illustrator, Jonathan Jay Lee. The "Living Room" also contains a long and open bar where diners could grab quick and dirty drinks or bottles of wine with sharing plates of authentic Japanese fare; while loud hip hop and rock and roll music plays over the speakers.
The “Dining Hall” hidden at the back of the restaurant sits up to 50 people and has a private dining VIP room decorated with beloved old school movie posters. Again, unapologetic loud music plays over low lighting making for a rowdy yet celebratory atmosphere.

The singular main course on the menu is complemented by a wide array of starters and 15 kinds of desserts. An all-day dining venue situated at the crossroads of Telok Ayer district, 51 Soho lends itself perfectly as a space for both work and play. Their offerings evolve through the hours, and reflects their human-oriented approach.
In short, 51 Soho encompasses all that is needed in a day for work and play.
An airy light-filled space framed by alfresco-facing ceiling-high windows facing the hustle and bustle of 51 Soho's central downtown location; a stylish full-fledged coffee and cocktail bar full of character in both its form and beverages; thoughtful menus that progress to support hour-to-hour culinary requirements; and that modern-day essential, complimentary high-speed wifi – these are the foundation for the new heart of this vibrant neighbourhood.
51 Soho is designed to foster a social experience. The goal is that you feel that you’ve found the place and the people that you’ve always been searching for.
Natural materials such as brick and wood dominate the interiors vis-à-vis the walls, the bar and the furniture; black steel panels add an urban edge. Up-close observation reveals a delightful and highly Instagram-mable surprise: the patterns alternate between geometrical inspirations to charming cut-outs of birds, teapots and cups.
At 51 Soho, whether you need a quick lunch alone or to entertain a 10-person group of drinkers, the space and staff are quick to respond to your needs.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the hours in between: the menus of 51 Soho seamlessly meets the ever-changing culinary requirements you might have in a day.
Breakfast options are easy and delicious. The Breakfast Overnight Oats ($9.90) rich with berries and other seasonal fruits or a fresh-baked Croissant with Ham and Cheese and Scrambled Eggs ($10.90) satisfy a lighter appetite whilst those who believe in eating like an emperor in the mornings would be delighted with options like the Big Breakfast, ($14.90) a platter which includes sausage, hash browns, pan-fried tomatoes, sunny side-ups and an English muffin with marmalade.
Lunch at 51 Soho is a study in how to elevate the one-bowl meals. Fulfilling the community’s needs for speed, taste and wholesome nutrition, a vast plethora of carefully prepared options – protein and carbohydrate, toppings and add-ons – allow for creative customisation of the meal according to individual constitution and needs.
51 Soho’s dinner menu is a development of the motif tying the breakfast and lunch menus – the familiar is elevated with premium ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and a witty, tongue-in-cheek hat-tip to local culinary preferences.
The golden sunlight that gilds the custom-built bar running almost the entire length of the space brings out yet another fact of 51 Soho. Drinkers will find their attention especially commandeered by the cocktails.
A beautiful list of classics, with a twist, is available but it’s the five 51 Soho Specials that will linger in the memory. Original recipes one and all, the Specials are nonetheless rooted in meticulous research and development. Resounding especially strongly was the history of punch drinks and shooters (or shots) – their celebratory nature; the flexibility of the basic recipes; and the stories – apocryphal or not! – that surround them. In fact, both Difford’s and Vice notes that historically, punch was the drink of choice for high society.
The 51 Soho Specials are a contemporary materialisation of cross-cultural references. Chinese rice wine, plum wine and bamboo wine form the base of the Specials. These, each with its own centuries-old heritage and character, have long since been lost to the serious drinker.

Shiseido announced the opening of their new office in Singapore, located in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.
The move is part of Shiseido’s VISION 2020 corporate transformation, as the company focuses on accelerating growth in the second phase of its medium-to-long term strategy. The new office hub will house the regional headquarters of Shiseido Asia Pacific, the global headquarters for Shiseido Travel Retail and the affiliate office of Shiseido Singapore. As centres of value creation, this structure facilitates flexible and agile decision making; enabling Shiseido to achieve significant growth through marketing activities attuned to the needs of regional consumers and global travellers.

As they continue to build for the future, Shiseido is committed to an increased investment in their brands, talent development, beauty innovation and business activities that will positively and sustainably impact society.

Its programmes aim to develop leadership, function-specific and innovation skills and behaviours that are critical in supporting growth and bringing out the best from employees for Shiseido’s continued success.
-
Asia Pacific Innovation Centre, which will enable open-source innovation, Asia Pacific consumer research, as well as create and localize a portfolio of highly specialised products for the Asian market and climate.
-
Life Quality Beauty Centre: As they strive for a society that promotes greater happiness and positivity for everyone, this is a unique facility that provides private, specialized make-up consultations to consumers with significant skin concerns such as port-wine stains, nevus, scars, vitiligo and changes in appearance due to the side effects of medical treatment. Shiseido has helped consumers with serious skin concerns since 1956, when many in Japan suffered from serious skin burns post-war, by developing a foundation called Shiseido Spots Cover.

Shiseido Asia Pacific and the global headquarters of Travel Retail first established their presence in Singapore in 2016 & 2015 respectively; with the employee base almost doubling to over 250 employees, with nationalities spread across 17 countries.

Growth in the premium beauty segment in Asia Pacific is forecasted increase by USD$4.4 billion from 2016-2021, while the mass beauty segment is expected to achieve more than triple this amount.
Asia Pacific also represents a key region and engine of growth for the global Travel Retail Channel. Mythz & Myths at South Bridge Road combines a kitchen with a hidden bar, founded by French-trained Joël Robuchon alumnus Chef Martin Wong.

Mythz & Myths' menu will be mainly focused on French cuisine, incorporated with a touch of Asian. Being very particular about his ingredients used in his cooking, Chef Martin will work to refresh his menu once every 3 months, with seasonal produce – locally and non-locally.
Chef Martin aims to bring out a different dining experience to guests. Rather than casual dining, and fine dining, Chef Martin calls it a ‘Dinner Party’. Where there will be much more interactions with guests and for the team to cook right in front of the guests.
“My food will be the culmination of every element in the restaurant, from the carefully selected ingredients to the structure in each dish, the china & the customer experience - all weaved into a definitive culinary finesse bringing forth myriads of tantalizing joys to even the most notorious taste buds” - Martin Wong, Founding Chef of Mythz & Myths

Located in the heart of the central business district at Frasers Tower; Preludio is a new contemporary restaurant that aims to present a fresh perspective on fine dining, where embracing a culture of constant change and innovation helps ignite the spirit of creativity and betterment.
Instead of focusing on dishes from a certain geographical region, Preludio adventures into the territory known as “Author’s Cuisine.”
The menu, inspired by themed chapters, will always remain audacious and proudly experimental, yet familiar. The entire guest experience will change according to themes chosen by Executive Chef Fernando Arévalo. Much like a couture house that launches a new collection every season, Preludio will release a new chapter every 12 to 18 months. Thus the creativity and boldness of Preludio’s artists will remain constantly challenged, while at the same time maintaining the finest quality in each and every dish.
For its debut, Preludio will open with “Monochrome”, where the restaurant will be inspired in black and white. The team approached the theme of monochrome with a sense of liberation instead of limitation. Imagining in this concept provoked them to explore and invent new definitions of black and white, brainstorming with a spiritedness that materialised freely.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Chef Fernando Arévalo graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, and began his career in Michelin- starred kitchens alongside iconic culinary artists Daniel Boulud, Bill Telepan and Mario Batali. For the past 6 years, he has been based in Singapore, heading the kitchens of Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse and Artemis Grill.
Ambitious, creative and driven, he is ready to set on his own path as the head of Preludio’s impassioned and adventurous team.
Preludio will welcome guests on 8 November and is currently open for reservations.

In celebration of the firm’s 77th anniversary, KPMG in Singapore recently unveiled its revamped staff lounge – the KPMG Clubhouse – as an emblem to redefine the future of work and enhance their staff experience through innovation and technology.
Prominently located on the first floor of City House in the Central Business District area and occupying over 5,000 square feet, the KPMG Clubhouse first opened its doors in 2011 to give KPMG staff a place that they could chill in, catch up with colleagues and friends, host client meetings and work in a comfortable and collaborative manner.
Taking into consideration how today’s employees, in particular, the millennial generation prefer to work, the firm undertook a four-month renovation of the KPMG Clubhouse, with the intent to redesign the facility such that it sits at the forefront of technology, functionality and design. Relive the glamour of 1980s Hong Kong at Mona Lounge.
Paying tribute to the hedonistic era of 1980s Hong Kong, Sum Yi Tai (meaning “Third Wife” in Cantonese) offers modernised Chinese dining without losing the soul of classic Cantonese dishes. Mona Lounge is Sum Yi Tai’s back-room cocktail lounge, located on the second floor of the shophouse, where the lounge’s matriarch Mona invites her friends to be unencumbered from the watchful eyes of onlookers, imbibe dangerously on cocktails and soak in jazzy Chinese tunes.

Guccio, representing the surname – and hence, the origins of Chef Marco - will offer Executive Chef Marco Guccio’s culinary philosophy: an Italian fine dining cuisine journey, from a home-made, hearty cuisine to a global fine dining success.
While using top ingredients is not unique per se, Marco’s signature cooking style is: in his cuisine, the core ingredient becomes the main actor in the opera. Each dish has one ingredient at the center of the flavor experience. While the presentations are at times a contrast of colorful and complex textures, Marco’s dishes create a balance of supporting flavors, similar to how supporting artists dance in harmony, in the background of the leading act.
This philosophy is pushed to its boundaries at Guccio, with critics sometimes claiming that a blindfolded customer would always be able to recognize the chief ingredients in the dish she is eating. This style won chef Marco a Bib Gourmand from the prestigious Michelin Star Guide for two years in a row, in 2016 and 2017.
Chef Marco welcomes you to his restaurant. Its décor is, once again, balanced and aims to be comfortable, while remaining in the background. At Guccio, customers will be at the center of the experience, with the colors and design elements to balance the surroundings.
In the background of Marco’s main culinary signature style, Guccio will further differentiate itself by taking its diners onto a seasonal journey across the various regions of Italy, their fertile lands and their precious seas. At regular intervals, aligned with the four seasons of Europe, chef Marco will explore regional ingredients and recipes associated to each season, a unique opportunity to visit Italy even when 10,000 km away from it.
Marco’s creation will be paired by the best Italian wine labels available. As for the culinary ingredients, Guccio will not focus so much on education about new ingredients or unknow brands, but on outright enjoyment of the best that Italy has to offer.

Everything Has A Source.
With characteristic cool, passion and verve, lawyer-in-training turned-chef and first MasterChef Asia winner Woo Wai Leong unveils his much-anticipated maiden dining experience, Restaurant Ibid.
Restaurant Ibid constitutes the culinary vision of Woo Wai Leong, lawyer-in-training turned chef and first winner of the inaugural MasterChef Asia season. Ibid draws the concepts of ‘from the same source’ (which ibid means in Latin) and ‘Nanyang’, which is characterized by an East-West sensibility and a constant search for origins and identity. From these dual inspirations comes Nanyang-style, Contemporary Chinese cuisine, a creative art form forged from Wai Leong’s own Nanyang heritage and Asian and Western culinary background. Housed in a conserved riverside shophouse and staffed by youthful ‘cross-trained’ kitchen and service talents, Restaurant Ibid is a seamless integration of concept, style and operation springing ‘from the same source’ embodied in the restaurant’s dynamic chef-owner.
Restaurant Ibid is housed on the first level of a shophouse in the Boat Quay precinct, where Chinese immigrants once traded on the Singapore River. Guarding the entrance are two external pillars bearing, in Chinese calligraphy, the name of the original landlord who traded in dried seafood. Visitors step into a hall with a feature wall of wooden traditional Chinese medicine drawers, highlighting the restaurant’s Chinoiserie theme.
The restaurant seats 14 at the bar and 40 at table, for a total of 54 guests.
Lunch, available from 14th May at Restaurant Ibid, sees an a la carte selection of Mains (Dong Po Beef Brisket with Plum Rice, Onsen Egg & Daikon Pickles), Sharing Plates (Chopped Kailan Salad with Roasted Garlic & Three Eggs) and Desserts (Acai, Chocolate Tofu Mousse, Fruits & Seeds).
Dinner features set menus with a choice of 4, 6 or 8 courses; highlights include Spring Onion Shao Bing with Yeasted Butter & Laksa Leaf; Egg Yolk Jam with Onion Soubise, Gingko Nuts & Tea Broth; Beef Short Rib with Black Garlic, Angelica Root, Black Fungus & Dehydrated Asian Pear; and Soy Bean Ice Cream with Toasted Sesame, Sarawak Pepper & Almond. There is also a selection of approachable yet distinctive wines, craft beers and pre-batched cocktails.

CapitaLand’s 51-storey future-ready skyscraper integrated development, CapitaSpring, will rejuvenate Singapore’s CBD with its vibrant vertical community.
As a world-class integrated development where the possibilities for future of work will be expanded amidst a vibrant work-live-play vertical community, CapitaSpring has secured its first anchor office tenant; ahead of its scheduled completion in the first half of 2021. J.P. Morgan, the global banking and financial services provider, will take up close to a quarter of the 635,000 sq ft of the net lettable area at CapitaSpring. This translates to approximately 155,000 sq ft of premium office space from levels 24 to 30.
The name “CapitaSpring” is inspired by the Green Oasis, a four-storey high botanical promenade between the Grade A office floors and the modern serviced residences. Embodying a connection with nature for urban dwellers in the heart of Singapore’s downtown core, the Green Oasis will become the central social space for placemaking and community activities as well as a city-defining architectural feature at a breathtaking 100 metres above ground.
CapitaSpring which broke ground for construction in February 2018, will be one of the tallest and greenest buildings in Raffles Place, with integrated commercial and community spaces and a City Room at the ground floor. Community events such as fitness sessions and lunchtime performances can be held at the City Room, which will blend into a 12,500 sq ft public park. Occupants can also look forward to a café, treetop cocoons, sky hammocks, meeting and activity spaces connected by a spiral stairway at the Green Oasis. CapitaSpring will also be home to Singapore’s highest urban farm and a fine-dining restaurant on the rooftop at around 280-metres-high.
Harnessing some of the latest Internet of Things and artificial intelligence technologies, robots and sensors – executives will be securely and seamlessly connected to their offices through an all-in-one lifestyle app. CapitaSpring will also allow tenants more flexibility in space planning with the option of inter-floor network connectivity, expansive column-free floor plates as well as one of the tallest floor-to-ceiling heights of 3.2 metres in the CBD. With a prime location in the downtown core, CapitaSpring will have excellent connectivity island-wide, with sheltered access to three train lines via Raffles Place MRT interchange and Telok Ayer MRT station as well as major expressways. CapitaSpring will also have a cycling path in its perimeter, 165 bicycle lots and well-equipped end-of-trip facilities, complementing the government’s strategy for a car-lite Singapore.
Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, in collaboration with Carlo Ratti Associati, CapitaSpring will also comprise a 299-unit Citadines serviced residence managed by The Ascott Limited, ancillary retail space, as well as a food centre located on the second and third levels of the development. Stallholders from the well-loved Market Street Food Centre will return to the new food centre at CapitaSpring upon the building’s completion.

The Salted Plum, formerly known as long-term pop-up Five Ten, has officially opened its doors at a two-storey shop house along Circular Road after much anticipation.
The name “The Salted Plum” was chosen with reference to the ingredient commonly used in Taiwanese cuisine. With striking blue hued walls and boasting a full view of the kitchen, The Salted Plum eatery is set to offer a casual, fun dining experience with mainly Taiwanese pop music from the 2000s playing in the background.
With an improved version of the Taiwanese tapas dishes that were well-loved at Five Ten, the intimate 98-seater has kept to its winning formula of dishes served at friendly prices of just $5 and $10.
The menu created by Chef Shawn Koh has undergone upgrades, following an extensive research trip around Taiwan, such as Taipei, Keelung, Taichung, Tainan and Kaoshiung, where he immersed himself in the local authentic dining culture and learnt traditional preparation methods from the Taiwanese.
Signature dishes include the Smashed Baby Potatoes ($5), a tongue-in-cheek take on the usual French fries. Here, baby potatoes are deep-fried, then smashed and sprinkled with a generous dose of salted plum powder. The popular Taiwanese Fried Chicken, a well-known street food, is marinated with soy and sesame, deep-fried, then served with nori mayonnaise ($10).
For a touch of luxury, the eatery also offers Live Boston Lobster ($25), steamed and with soy and sesame dressing, and also Slipper Lobster ($25) cooked with five spice during dinner. Limited portions, however, are available each week.

A mere eight years later, in 2013, he was appointed Master Chef at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Singapore, a coveted assignment that saw him cook for many high-profile events and serve up his creations to celebrities and dignitaries, including Japan’s Crowne Prince Naruhito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Common Man Stan, a newly opened outlet by Common Man Coffee Roasters in the Singapore CBD is a maturing of their ideas around what a café can offer, how they represent coffee as a unique product in itself and who they would like to engage with as they progress in their mission to be a Champion for Specialty Coffee in this region.
They want what they do to celebrate the relationships formed throughout the journey between bean and cup – from the farmers and millers to baristas and drinkers.

You can expect some of your favourites from their 22 Martin Road outlet's menu plus some new dishes that they have created especially for the outlet, reflecting the vibe of the new neighbourhood. Where possible, they have incorporated local produce into their dishes, proudly working with Citizen Farm, Kuhlburra Fish, Tiong Bahru Bakery and Nurti-nest Honey to name a few.
This is all set amidst a sleek backdrop of the cafe, which combines natural textures of wood and rattan, marble and raw cement brought together with a touch of gold. They hope this reflects both CMCR's history and also their goals for the future.

Chef Christophe Lerouy (formerly of Alma by Juan Amador) has started a brand new modern French restaurant, Restaurant Lerouy, on Stanley Street.
Diners get to sit around the eye-catching long & winding counter which frames the open kitchen.
There are three-, five- and seven-course tasting menus to select from for lunch and dinner. For the month of December, chef Lerouy will work his magic and presents his version of Christmas foie gras creation.
Originally from France, the decorated chef Lerouy brings with him a myriad of food cultures and techniques from his culinary exploits around the world. He spent his formative years receiving a strong foundation in classical French techniques under the tutelage and apprenticeship of Michelin-starred chefs Christian Le Aquer (Le Pavillon Ledoyen) and Guy Martin (Le Grand Vefour), Pourcel Brothers (Le Jardin des Sens). Thereafter, he worked in Los Angeles, Shanghai, Marrakech, Abu Dhabi and one year in Singapore in 2008 when he was sous chef The Lighthouse Restaurant.
Chef Lerouy’s classical French foundation incorporated modernist leanings at Amador Restaurant and Cellar at the Park Rotana Abu Dhabi, as well as at Alma by Juan Amador. It was at Alma where his culinary excellence and direction as the restaurant’s Chef de Cuisine was awarded the one star accolade in the 2016 Singapore Michelin Guide.

Hafudog's first shop opens its doors in the hustling and bustling streets of Robinson Road serving up artisanal hot dogs, the fusion way.
Some passionate people and chefs got together to innovate a simple, consistent, fast and delicious classic staple. And Hafudog was born.

"Hafu" refers to a person or object of mixed origin. At Hafudog, they mixed their influences across North America to their roots here in Asia. Taking culinary and hospitality combinations that work, they’ve refreshed the classic staple, the all-American hot dog.
Their philosophy is backed by strong culinary skills: hot dogs are simply a sausage in a bun, but they don’t take this lightly. At Hafudog, these main ingredients are made fresh by local artisans and they ensure that it meets a standard of excellence. This means quality ingredients with no preservatives, no shortcuts and 100% pure enjoyment.

The Container is a tapas and cocktail bar that draws inspiration from the elements of earth, air, water and fire. In Hokkaido, wagyu farmers all have a second ‘home’.
At the end of the day, they will gather in old, used containers which are converted into informal ‘bars’.
It is at the bars where they share anecdotes about their day’s work and their family (or how some miss theirs who live in other prefectures). They enjoy small plates of wagyu dishes, served up along with sake and beer. Sometimes, the farmers take turns to prepare their hometown wagyu specialities.
Laughing, bonding, over their stories. A place of camaraderie and friendship. This is a celebration of life. The Container is inspired by this experience.
