Whether you need a perk-up or a mid-morning jolt, some time out or a good catch-up; a small bite or a square meal, this is the new perfect venue for you.
It all began in 1862, when Louis Ernest Ladurée, a miller from France’s southwest, created a bakery in Paris at 16 rue Royale. The beginning of this century found Paris wrapped up in a frenzy of distraction and going out in public. Louis Ernest Ladurée’s wife, Jeanne Souchard, had the idea of mixing styles: The Parisian café and pastry shop gave birth to one of the first tea salons in town.
The story of the Ladurée Macaroon starts in the middle of the 20th century with Pierre Desfontaines, who first thought of taking two macaroon shells and joining them with a delicious ganache filling.
These small, round cakes, crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle, are made every morning in Ladurée’s “laboratory”. The pastry chefs measure out very precisely the required amounts of almonds, eggs and sugar, before adding one final ingredient, a pinch of unique “know-how”, essential to the making of such a delicacy. Once cooked and filled, the macarons are put to one side for 2 days before going on sale, the time it takes to achieve a perfect balance between texture and flavour.
With each new season, Ladurée pays tribute to its most famous creation by creating a new flavour. Their existing range of macarons is always the starting point when a new one is created, as the variety of colours is as important as the range of flavours and a vital part of their appeal.
The first level counter only carries macarons, but they also serve chocolates, jams, tea and other confectionery.

Synonymous with its name, Cups N Canvas is all about the harmony of art and coffee, in a café-studio setting coupled with elements of fun, vibrancy and homeliness.
Its name was born out of an artist’s personal experience, where he often finds himself late at night, surrounded with empty cups of coffee around his work table while furiously painting away on a canvas due for submission. This sight is all too familiar for the avid artists out there.
Cups N Canvas welcomes anyone who simply enjoys artisanal coffee and good old comfort food to drop by this nesting place, located along the extended arts belt of the city. With its rustic charm as seen from its cozy interior, Cups N Canvas seeks to revive the creative and fun-loving side of you, who may be robotized by the fast-paced, mundane city-dwelling lives from time to time.
From 5 seemingly different individuals with diverse backgrounds: a compulsive artist, a star architect, a veteran designer and 2 business graduates in their early 20s, there came an uncanny desire to share their love for art, coffee and food. Hence, the idea of a café-studio began its conceptualization which came to realization when the space of an old conservatory shop house was available.
Drop by for some seriously good coffee, comfort food and have a go at your artistic potential.

Celebrating iconic comfort food from all around the world, the food includes Fish and Oysters served with homemade tartar sauce and drizzled with Maldon salt and malt vinegar, Jason Atherton’s modern take on the British favourite Fish and Chips. The twin tower of ‘V on Shenton’ is comprised of a 23-storey office building and a 53-storey residential tower, with the dual programming of the building highlighted through its massing. The office tower corresponds to the scale of the surrounding buildings and the street, while the residential tower rises up to distinguish itself from the neighbouring buildings. Above the third sky lobby the unit mix of the residential tower changes with a subtle display of its split core.
Just as the office and residential towers are of the same family of forms, so do their facades originate from the same family of patterns. The basic shape of the hexagon is used to create patterns that increase the performance of the facades with angles and shading devices that are responsive to the climatic conditions of Singapore. Along with systematic material variations, these geometric panels add texture and cohesion to the building, whilst reflecting light and pocketing shade. The texture and volume of the facade maintain the comfort of those living and working in the residential and office buildings. Shading devices and high-performance glass develop a sustainable and liveable facade.
Each tower is framed by "chamfers"; a line that unifies the composition of the residential tower, the office tower and the plinth. During daytime the chamfer appears smooth in contrast to the textured surfaces of the towers. At night the chamfer lights up as a continuous line framing building.
The office lobby is divided into a reception area and a large café which extends along the view corridor to create a lively atmosphere in the public areas.
The sky lobbies and the sky garden are an integral part of ‘V on Shenton’ and provide 360 degree views of Singapore. The most ample and diverse of the three sky gardens covers the entire 8th storey of the development. You are given even greater privacy combined with views of the city or the ocean. The penthouse levels also have exclusive access to the outdoor roof terraces.

Mediacorp’s Mediapolis development includes two large studios, post production facilities, news gathering and broadcasting facilities, a 1,600-seater theatre and office space designed to provide maximum interaction between staff and encourage creativity. The "fenceless campus" will be open to the public and visitors will be able see a drama or news broadcast and visit cafes, restaurants and gift shops.
Due to the demanding architectural intent and resulting structural design, creative use of materials is essential to minimise the environmental impact of the building’s structural frame. Web Structures will also use its experience to reduce the carbon footprint of the new broadcasting centre.
The embodied carbon emissions associated with the structure will be kept to minimum by using high quantities of recycled cement and aggregates as well as innovative void-forming techniques, which help to speed up construction as well as reducing the materials required.

The three main elements of graffiti art – tagging, throw-ups, and characters, fuse well with the lighting and the dulcet beats of Rebel’s resident DJs to create the perfect ambiance of a “meeting point”. An al fresco area offers the perfect respite for clubbers to sit back, chill out and watch the world go by.
The menu is conceptualized as a “black book” or a visual journal of an aspiring Hip-Hop cook. The food and beverages on the menu are named after key R&B or hip hop influences and interesting sketches of some items are present on the “black book”.

Gene has always been rather selfish when it comes to food. It is not that he will never share his food, but rather he will not serve anyone food that he would not eat himself. The incessant search for his perfect local cafe has hardly produced results, so he decided to start his own.
Situated at on Craig Road at the edge of the Tanjong Pagar Conservation Area and sharing the same backyard of the Pinnacle@Duxton, Selfish Gene Cafe is a casual eatery which serves a variety of delicious sandwiches, refreshing salads, espresso & tea based beverages, homemade baked goods and more.
The menu draws personal influences from Gene's family, travels and training. The cuisine can be described as borderless, simple and unpretentious. Their cooks capitalise on their fine-dining background, latest technologies and sheer passion to challenge existing perceptions of cafe fare.
Jewel Coffee, the latest homegrown specialty coffee and all-day casual dining concept, opened its first boutique cafe at the brand new and sophisticated One Shenton, where contemporary city living is combined with an eclectic mix of food and beverage offerings designed to appeal to the discerning urban dweller.
Jewel Coffee is a cosy hangout for those who enjoy their espresso fix while having light meal options at any time of the day. The quaint cafe will not be missed from a distance with its attention-grabbing and iconic red ‘COFFEE’ sign spanning the wall behind the brew bar, inspired by an American charcuterie in Portland. Quirky collectibles and figurines adorn the cafe interior, adding a personal touch and vibrance to the space.
Helmed by veteran chef Chalton Lam, formerly from P.S. Cafe and Prive, the 900 square feet joint has both indoor and al fresco seating, offering delicious breakfast options such as popular brioche, pancakes and frittata, to a comprehensive range of classic favourites including the mushroom medley pasta, salads and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. All pastas and salads have the option of customisation with add-ons of sausages, roast beef and chicken, or chilli for those who enjoy their food with a spicy kick. Those with sweet tooth can also satisfy their cravings with its mouth watering range of pastries and cakes. Customers can also take a pit stop in the evenings to unwind with ice cold beer, paired with mouth-watering bar snacks such as fried pork cubes with kaffir lime chilli sauce.
Jewel Coffee is the only cafe in town that focuses solely on single origin coffee options for both the espresso and the brew bar, with all espresso-based drinks getting a generous double shot of espresso for each drink served. Customers get to enjoy single origin coffees from different parts of the world, rotated on a weekly basis.
Besides bringing in Singapore’s and Asia Pacific’s first owned manual La Marzocco Strada espresso machine for highly controlled brewing accuracy by the skilled barista, Jewel Coffee also features an impressive brew bar equipped with the powerful and sleek Uber Boiler that speeds up the brewing process with a perfect control of the water temperature and dose. Jewel Coffee specialises in three main coffee brewing methods – the Chemex, the pour-over and the syphon. For coffee connoisseurs who prefer more robust coffee, the pour-over would be the preferred method of brew, while those who prefer a lighter, easier-to-drink coffee can opt for the Chemex as this method strips out the bitter elements of the coffee to provide a cleaner taste for the palate.
Jewel Coffee’s philosophy is to inculcate a culture of fine coffee appreciation, taking coffee craftsmanship to the next level akin to fine art. Customers are able to learn about the coffee craft and brewing process from the baristas as they brew their coffee ‘live’ for each order, and address any coffee queries that the customers may have. In the months to come, Jewel Coffee will also offer coffee tasting sessions to customers who are keen to refine their taste buds in the art of coffee appreciation.
For those who enjoy a cold cup of coffee or tea in our tropical heat, Jewel Coffee is one of the few places in town that offer cold steeped coffee or tea to ensure undiluted and low acid coffee and tea without any compromise in its taste.
Integrating quality and sustainability into its corporate mantra, Jewel Coffee champions the use of socially and environmentally responsible coffee and work with a handful of roasters who share similar passion to source for coffee that adhere to the strict production guidelines of ecological responsibility.
The must-haves at Jewel Coffee include its signature coffee such as The Gibraltar and the Chemex. Be sure to give these a shot for your caffeine dose of the day!
Coffee enthusiasts who simply cannot get enough of their specialty coffee can recreate their experience with the retail range of coffee brewing devices for home use. A distributor for mypressi TWIST, an authorised reseller for Keepcup and Chemex, as well as a retailer for Hario coffee brewing products, Jewel Coffee caters these retail products specifically for those in the know.

Imagine you are travelling in the woods. You are hungry and tired. You have passed by a few inns and taverns, which are either rowdy or impersonal - unless you wish to check into an inn – and they only serve predictable dreary food. Oh, wait. There is another place; however it would take you deeper into the woods and on a higher latitude - near the mountainous area. It may be a little past dusk before you reach that area.
As you amble along the dusty road, exhausted and growing quite impatient, something visibly indiscernible comes into view. A house. It's two-storied, standing behind a small courtyard, trimmed with dancing lights shining from the windows. You hear some soft laughter rising above some indistinct clinking. But one thing: the unmistakable smell of food. Suddenly, the air smells fresh as apples and aromatic as herbs, both of which are familiar and comforting. As you step into Ardent's, you just know this is the place that will suit you well.
Just like stepping into a friend's house, that's what they are - a cosy cafe / bar serving all day breakfast.

His determination bore fruit when he was made Chef de Partie at Il Passetto restaurant in Rome when he was only 18. Giuliano's early achievements spurred his culinary dream. The desire to perfect his cooking techniques and to delight his guests with creative dishes grew stronger.
Giuliano went on to sharpen his knife in prestigious restaurants in Italy and around the globe. He has trained at 3 Michelin-Starred Ristorante Le Calandre di Rubano, 2 Michelin-Starred Da Bracali, and 1 Michelin-Starred Il Convivio Troiani. Beyond Italy, he continued his career in Gordon Ramsay's Boxwood Café in London, and 2 Veneti Restaurant where he worked together with Matteo Gasperini. Did you know that Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. Coffea arabica grew wild in the forests of the Kaffa region. Coffee is "Bun" or "Buna" in Ethiopia, so Coffee Bean could possibly be a poor anglicized interpretation of "Kaffa Bun".
Also, El Salvador coffee has an undeservedly poor reputation, marred mainly due to the unstable political climate. It has however recently emerged with great coffees. At one end of the spectrum, there are the Bourbon varietals; balanced and with a classic "Central" profile. On the other end, there are the Pacamara coffee varietal, which is quirky and full of character. High altitudes, on the south coast of Central America, and good traditional varietals have played a large part in its success.
The principle of a vacuum coffee maker is to heat water in the lower vessel of the brewer until expansion forces the contents through a narrow tube into an upper vessel. When the lower vessel has more or less emptied itself and the right brewing temperature is attained, coffee grounds are added. Then the heat is removed and the resulting vacuum will draw the brewed coffee through a filter back into the lower chamber from which it can be decanted. The result is a cleaner, smoother cup as compared to other brewing methods. This method is called the Syphon / Vacuum Pot and originated in Berlin in the early 19th century.
They carry the following products: Hario Dripper, Hario Woodneck, Hario Syphon, Aerobie Aeropress, Hario Cafepresso Hario Buono Kettle, Hario Mini Mill Slim Grinder, Hario Range Server as well as the following alternative brewing items: Clever Coffee Dripper, Eva Solo Cafe Solo, Donut Coffee Dripper, Pyrex Iwaki Cold Drip.
