Coq & Balls, a new and edgy, industrial-looking gastrobar has opened its doors in the tranquil residential neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru.
The playful name of the gastrobar augers well if you are looking for a friendly, laidback and casual place to knock back a few beers with friends or colleagues. Coq & Balls, cheeky as the name may sound, is serious when it comes to its vast offerings of over 30 beers (draught and bottled) sourced from all over the world. The gastrobar also stocks ales, ciders, single malt whiskeys and cocktails.

The design of Coq & Balls was jointly created by Dylan Lu of White Label Design and Jakarta-based branding firm SOSJ, renowned for their work such as Loewy, a chic European brasserie-style bar and restaurant and Union Brasserie, Bakery & Bar, whose design is reminiscent of classic early 20th century New York brasseries. Coq and Balls’ design was inspired by the subculture bars, found in the streets of Melbourne.

They play acid jazz, folk music, alternative, rock and indie music with the playlist expertly put together by Michael, who toured Europe twice as a Metal guitarist. Michael plays with a band called Absence of the Sacred. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious.
