Paul & Joe is named after store creator Sophie Albou's two sons.
After graduating from the French Fashion Institute, she went on to join the team at Azzédine Alaia, where she developed her talent and her generous style. After the first successful working experience, she became a stylist for Le Garage Shirts and after six years decided to create her own brand.
In 1995 she launched her first menswear collection, contrasting strongly with men's fashion around at the time; young, fresh, retro and colourful. This was a resounding success; her first customers adored the collections, spurring her on to create a womenswear collection, which she did a year later. The collection was made up of shirts and trousers to begin with, but rapidly evolved, bearing more and more of the hallmarks of her unique style: fresh, highly colourful, with flamboyant prints and very feminine fabrics.
The Paul & Joe woman resembles its creator, active, bubbly; she loves to travel and loves the luxury of being able to mix and match her own wardrobe, and to accessorise it according to her mods or her timetable. She is a resolute anti-conformist.
Sophie is now developing a specific universe in all her boutiques, bringing back her unique and original finds from the far flung corners of the world, giving each of her stores its own very special charm.
The womenswear boutique in Rue Des Saints Péres opened its doors in September 2001 and is today the finest example of this. Almost simultaneously he opened a boutique in Rue Du Four dedicated exclusively to menswear.
Paul & Joe has never stopped changing. The brand has over thirty boutiques throughout the world, from Paris to London via Seoul to Jakarta and now the luxury Italian brand has arrived in Singapore. Paul & Jo is also distributed in the most prestigious multi-brand department stores in the world: Barney's, Harvey Nichols, Isetan, Le Printemps and Harrods to name but a few.
Recognised as the pinnacle of mobile phone excellence, Vertu creates handsets for discerning individuals who demand the best in everything they buy. The product of years of development, each Vertu is a complex masterpiece. It combines the finest materials with the highest traditions of craftsmanship. While other phones are mass produced by the million, a Vertu is hand-built in England, one at a time.
The concept of the company is to make mobile phones in the same vein as luxury watch manufacturers like Rolex, IWC and Patek Philippe. The most expensive model it has ever made is the Signature Cobra, at $435,000 the most expensive regular model is the Signature Diamond at $112,500. Prices start at just over $7,000 for the Constellation model.
Other models include: Ascent, Constellation, Ascent Ti, Ascent 2010, Ayxta and Quest. The standard Ascent models come in many different colours, such as: Black, Brown, Red and Orange. The Special Edition models come in White, Azure Blue and Pink. The Summer Collection models come in Strawberry Red and White. Variations of the Ascent also include the RaceTrack Editions and Ferrari Edition. The original Ascent is no longer being produced, though the Constellation, Ascent Ti and Signature are still in production. There is a redesigned model of the Ascent, the Ascent 2010 currently in production.
The mobiles themselves are made from very expensive materials such as gold, sapphire (for the mobile screen), rubies (for the bearings) and fine leather. Each mobile is hand-made in its factories in Church Crookham, Hampshire, England. The company is headquartered in the United Kingdom with offices in Paris, New York, Las Vegas, Singapore, Tokyo, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong. Vertu's president and COO is Perry Oosting, and the Principal Designer is Frank Nuovo. The company now has over 400 employees.
To keep the value of the brand, Vertu mobiles are only available in its own branded stores, concessions in leading department stores such as Harrods and Selfridges in London, and other authorised retailers. Vertu’s flagship store opened in 2002 in Paris and then soon after in Singapore. There are now over 600 retail outlets, including one at Wynn Las Vegas.
One of the services acquired with a Vertu mobile is a year's free concierge service called "Vertu Concierge", operated by Ten Lifestyle Management worldwide. It is accessed through a special button, the "Concierge key", on the side of every phone. This "hot key" puts the user through to a team of lifestyle managers who can book services such as gourmet dining, luxury travel or accommodation around the clock
