Asia’s largest private cord blood storage facility has been opened by Cordlife. It aims to encourage parents to preserve samples of their children’s stem cells.
The Company currently owns and operates two stem cell banks with full processing and cryopreservation storage facilities in Singapore and Hong Kong. Its affiliates also operate in India, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The first cord blood bank to be set up in Singapore was back in May 2001 and was among the first in Asia. Cordlife Group Limited therefore has more than 10 years of cord blood banking experience as well as a published successful cord blood transplant and application track record.
The Company’s processing and storage facility in Singapore is also AABB-accredited and MOH-licensed, meeting both local and international standards in cord blood banking.
Only around 25 per cent of children born in Singapore have their cord blood stem cells put into storage by their parents. Umbilical cord blood at birth is rich in stem cells that can be stored and later used for treatment if the child contracts diseases like leukemia, cerebral palsy and other blood and immunodeficiency disorders.
The Yishun facility, Cordlife’s third in Singapore, boasts a storage capacity of 650,000 units and state-of-the-art technology.

The new all-suite wing of the Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa was once a barrack base that housed British artillerymen during World War II. Now it has been meticulously restored to offer you a sense of history that’s been fully updated with every contemporary comfort.
The three-storey Heritage Wing now features 62 sumptuous suites and an all-day restaurant. During restoration by Singapore’s DP Architects, the wing’s atmospheric original features such as colonial doors, window frames, high-ceilings, wide covered "link way" corridors and other architectural details were fully renovated to their former glory.
The building’s colonial ambience was also enhanced by contemporary flourishes. For example, a 4.8-metre Y-shaped table crafted from a single piece of Indonesian teak has become a design focal point in the WOW whiskey bar in addition to full granite table tops and oversized "kerosene lamp" chandeliers.
Taking inspiration from Singapore’s culture and tropical climate, the designers incorporated atmospheric fans (as well as air- conditioning), floor-to-ceiling windows, slate bathroom floors, patchwork carpets, natural wood finishes and local design motifs.
You will be able to enjoy the majestic view of the commanding Merlion statue from your room, a reminder of Singapore's magical history and traditions, or a tranquil pool view from the room.
Dedicated butlers are assigned to all heritage suites to provide the ultimate standard of luxury and comfort. Those requiring private meeting space can also request for a complimentary meeting room for up to 2 hours. You are also invited to the elite lounge where breakfast, evening cocktails and coffee, tea and snacks are served throughout the day.

RS Deli is a new youthful, chic diner serving traditional Indonesian cuisine with a modern twist.
Their menu consists of mould-breaking East-West fusion creations such as Nasi Lemak Burger, Kampong Spaghetti and Belado Fish & Chips. Other creations like the Satay Chicken Burger and Beef Rendang Burger are both covered in traditional sauces but tucked into a burger bun and served with fries and Indonesian coleslaw.
The inspiration and backbone of RS Deli is the founder’s mother Lai Siu Ing who has 30 years of experience in baking and Indonesian culinary. She is also the pioneer behind Rasa Sayang, a renowned home bakery specilaizing in festive goodies, such as kue lapis, that she still runs out of her native Jakarta today.
Her brand of crackers, cakes and savoury snacks have carved out a loyal following in Singapore ever since she first started selling her confections at Takashimaya's annual Chinese New Year food fair in 1998.
RS Deli is a place where Mdm Lai’s extensive culinary skills and knowledge are translated into something new and unique, without breaking from the Indonesian roots. There are also traditional Indonesian offerings like Chicken Gulai, citrusy Javanese-style curry chicken and Chicken Lontong done with turnip instead of cabbage. The dried shrimp floss-dusted potato chips that come with the rice sets are also instantly addictive.

Other dishes that have made a comeback lot, stock and barrel from the world of classical French food as served in Singapore in the 70s would be the lamb Veronique featuring a grilled bone-in rib of lamb paired with a beautiful sauce made of bacon, croutons and grapes. The Steak Bordelaise is a char-grilled sirloin steak that simply comes dressed in red wine jus, served in its old-fashioned style and shows off the produce incredibly.
