Established lifestyle and entertainment management group LifeBrandz unveils Rebel' Hood the first hip hop theme café in Singapore, located in the heart of Clarke Quay.
Inspired by the last active Writer’s Bench located at the 149th Street Grand Concourse subway station in the Bronx, the street art on the walls and numerous fixtures of Rebel‘ Hood are designed and executed by top local graffiti artists, collectively known as RSCLS.
The three main elements of graffiti art – tagging, throw-ups, and characters, fuse well with the lighting and the dulcet beats of Rebel’s resident DJs to create the perfect ambiance of a “meeting point”. An al fresco area offers the perfect respite for clubbers to sit back, chill out and watch the world go by.
The menu is conceptualized as a “black book” or a visual journal of an aspiring Hip-Hop cook. The food and beverages on the menu are named after key R&B or hip hop influences and interesting sketches of some items are present on the “black book”.
LifeBrandz, the leading lifestyle and entertainment management group behind establishments such as Zirca, Rebel, and Mulligan’s, presents its latest brainchild – COCO – at Singapore’s most beloved entertainment enclave, Clarke Quay. Lifebrandz opened COCO to cater to an increasing demand in the nightlife scene for a party space where the music is versatile and which embraces popular East and West pop music. They are incredibly excited to introduce this new concept that’s dedicated to showcasing the latest pop music in the Asian region as well as featuring live entertainment and Asian DJs.

For starters, COCO will play host to Brazilian DJ Masa on 17 December 2011 who will be spinning his unique ‘Masa Mixes’ of Korean pop. His love for Asian pop culture has inspired the young enterprising music producer /DJ to create mash-ups of Japanese, Korean and Chinese pop for an international audience (Pre-sale tickets at $30 are available at Mulligan’s and COCO; door tickets are priced at $38).
What’s more, COCO’s live music programme is boosted by energetic performances from its resident singers, comprising Eddie, Devin, Sasa, Aaliyah, and Penny. Accompanying them is the new four-piece resident band – Ammunition. The band and singers are supported by slick choreographed routines by a cast of Asian show dancers.
Cast in wooden panels, rugged exposed brick walls and flushed with windows that peek out into Clarke Quay’s vibrant scene, COCO offers an intimate contemporary setting fitted with a main stage with a 3m x 3m LED wall, an inviting bar and a posh VIP area.
