Some of these features include lifts with a sleep mode, rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation with rain sensor and motion sensors.

Commissioned by the Housing and Development Board as an exploration of the future of affordable public housing, WOHA‘s public housing design for Skyville @ Dawson consists of 960 new homes. Their project is currently under construction and is estimated to be completed by February 2015. The design focuses on 3 themes – community, variety and sustainability.
There is a variety of community space. Each home is part of a Sky Village: 80 homes which share a naturally ventilated community terrace and garden. The block is composed of 3 villages, stacked 4 high, for a total of 12 villages. Other community areas include: the Community Living Rooms at ground level, which provides seating areas overlooking the park and is located on the main entrance route of the development; the Landscaped Park, which retains enormous historic rain trees and provides two community pavilions, play and fitness areas, courts and lawns; the Rooftop Park, which houses a 400m jogging track and rooftop pavilions which support a PV array that powers the common lighting; the Urban Plaza, located along a public linear park and provides supermarket, coffee shop and retail spaces.
The design gives variety by offering you flexible floor plans with a column free and beam free main space, eliminating waste and allowing diverse lifestyles, such as home office or loft living as well as future flexibility.
SkyVille has been awarded Singapore’s Green Mark Platinum rating, the highest rating possible. The project uses passive means and avoids the use of energy-intensive solutions rather than using high technology. Every unit is fully naturally ventilated, with every room (including bathrooms and kitchens) having windows. The common areas, lift lobbies and access walkways are all naturally ventilated and lit. The apartments are cross ventilated, with CFD simulations performed at the block and unit level. The units use passive means for comfort – all walls have vertical and horizontal sun breakers to shade both the walls and the windows, all windows have overhangs and special mid-height top hung panels that direct breeze to seating height and allow the windows to remain open during the monsoon period, the units face north and south and have openings on all sides.
PV cells at the rooftop power the common areas and a swale which is a major landscape feature treats storm water before discharging it to the storm water system. The project uses landscaping throughout the tower in the sky villages, additionally it covers 50% of all roof surfaces. Two major landscaped external spaces totaling 1.5Ha are provided.
Located at the fast transforming Tanjong Pagar precinct of the Central Business District (CBD), the limited edition PS100 is part of an integrated hotel-office development, occupying Levels 7 to 11 of Oasia Downtown, a 27-storey business hotel and the latest addition to Far East Organization's $4 billion hospitality portfolio.
The strata titled development is integrated with the hotel, Oasia Downtown, offering you access to professional concierge services. This one of its kind development also features sleek and compact living and working space that offers a chic alternative to the traditional office space.
PS100's strategic location offers you almost unmatched connectivity and downtown conveniences. While the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station is just at its doorstep, world class business and entertainment hubs such as Marina Bay Downtown, Orchard Road and Sentosa are just a short drive away. Designated by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) as the next waterfront city in Singapore, Tanjong Pagar is on track to become a vibrant business, commercial and residential hub as the area expects a burgeoning of mixed-use developments in the near future.
To provide for a more enjoyable working environment, common amenities in the development include business pods as well as recreational amenities and the roof sky bar that offers views of the city skyline. All units at PS100 come with a high ceiling to ceiling height of 5m with the provision of platforms. You also get to choose your preferred appliances and floorings from a wide selection provided.
Oasia Downtown, designed by WOHA, sets out to create an alternative imagery for commercial high-rise developments. It combines innovative ways to intensify land use with a tropical approach that showcases a perforated, permeable, furry, verdant tower of green in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.
In programmatic response to the client’s brief of having distinct Soho, Hotel & Club rooms, WOHA adopted a club sandwich approach by creating a series of different strata, each with its own sky garden. Introducing layers of elevated ground levels allow the precious but limited ground floor space to be multiplied, creating generous public areas for recreation and social interaction throughout the high-rise.
Sited within a densely built up area, the tower carves out its own internal spaces and dynamic views instead of relying on external vistas for visual interest. Each sky garden is treated as an urban scale verandah, sheltered at high level by the preceding sky garden and open sided for formal and visual transparency. The openness also allows wind to pass through the building for good cross-ventilation. Large scale High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fans are incorporated as kinetic sculptures that complement the sky garden design and ensure thermal comfort. In this way the public areas become functional, comfortable tropical spaces with greenery, natural light and fresh air instead of enclosed, internalized air conditioned spaces.
Landscaping is used extensively as an architectural surface treatment and forms a major part of the development’s material palette both internally and externally, achieving an overall Green Plot Ratio of 750%. The building form is softened by a living green façade of creepers and flowering plants, creating an alternative image distinct from the surrounding glassy towers of the CBD, one that is tropical, urbanistically sensitive and humanistic.
Somewhere downtown, a brand new playground tucked away in the basement of a nondescript building in the business district, has opened its doors.
The 6,000 sq ft space is the brainchild of Singapore-based lifestyle group Limited Edition Concepts (LEC), who are also behind the New York- style bistro and lounge, The Vault.
Welcome to kyoÌ, a rhythm nation where the most talented local and global electronic music DJs play up to the dance floor fever. A space where music meets urban art. A space which reflects the taste and refinement of the well-heeled set.
The new nightclubstands out in a sea of nightspots with its unique status, making a statement with its minimalist makeover, with echoes of a contemporary Japanese design of linear lines juxtaposed against textured, earthy tones.
You will be greeted by a dark wood door framed by earth-toned panels. The anticipation heightens as you walk past the doors to descend the stairs. The symmetrical, creamy wall panels backlit with a gentle glow – a foil to a dramatic art piece in the stairwell – teases you to explore what lies beyond even as you drawn in by the crescendo of intensifying vibrations of the percussion-laden beats from within.
KyoÌ’s custom design is led by LEC and Singapore-based architectural design firm, Fuur Associates. Although kyoÌ embraces the principles of Japanese design, she embodies a cosmopolitan and urban appeal. And with style comes substance.
In today’s haphazard musical landscape, kyoÌ pays tribute to quality sound The diverse repertoire appeals to even the most demanding musical palate, with the seductive disco-infused grooves and other times, edgier music fare. kyoÌ is outfitted with the American- made EAW system, with a purity which makes the entire space sound as though it were a studio.
Your eyes will be immediately drawn to two striking, mirrored bottle displays made of mild steel and glass, each measuring 6.5-m long and suspended from overhead beams. Befitting kyoÌ’surban, cosmopolitan spirit, the three-counter bar is lavishly stocked with an international, premium list with at least five different brands/ labels for each category of spirit, wines, sparkling wines and champagne.
Accompanying the international selection is a boutique collection of Nihon-shu. kyoÌ’s fine sakes include Umakaramansaku Umakuchi Junmai, Seikyo Maboroshi Jyunmai and Dassai Junmai Daiginjou (award-winning Dassai Sake Brewery in Yamaguchi Prefecture).

The new ParkRoyal on Pickering is designed by internationally acclaimed architectural firm WOHA and boasts a hotel-in-a-garden concept that focuses on integrating environmental principles and elements throughout the property.
Located at the key gateway into the Central Business District and Raffles Place financial hub, the hotel features lush greenery spanning a total of 15,000 square metres of impressive sky gardens, reflecting pools, waterfalls, planter terraces and green walls.
Amongst its other green features are rainwater and natural light harvesting, energy-efficient air conditioning systems, automatic sensors to regulate energy and water usage as well as carbon monoxide levels, along with solar cells to power landscape lighting.
Recognised for its holistic and innovative approach to integrate solar energy into the design, the hotel is one of the first amongst Singapore hotels to feature a solar energy system. The substantive 60kWp solar PV installation supplements the grid's electricity usage and powers all the grow lamps and sky garden night lighting, thus reducing the consumption of precious non-renewable resources.
Another highlight of this iconic project is the dedicated wellness floor with an all-day spa, a 300m nature trail and waterfall walk, an expansive pool terrace and a state-of-the-art gymnasium. The hotel is also home to a modern Asian brasserie featuring an open kitchen concept as well as a grand ballroom and four meeting rooms.
The design for this Malaysian-Singaporean joint venture actively engages the space of the surrounding city to form a new civic nucleus in Singapore’s modern metropolis. The two towers are not conceived as autonomous objects, but defined by the spaces they create around them.
The design for DUO subtracts circular carvings from the allowable building volumes in a series of concave movements that generate urban spaces, a kind of "urban poché" that co-opts adjacent buildings and symbiotically inscribes the two towers into their context.
By generating the massing through a subtractive process, the elevations of the new towers are reduced to slender profiles. Vertical facades rise skywards along the adjoining roads, while a net-like hexagonal pattern of sunshades reinforces the dynamic concave shapes. The duo of tower volumes is further sculpted to feature a series of cantilevers and setbacks that evoke choreographed kinetic movements of the building silhouettes.
The buildings dematerialize as they reach the ground to provide a porous permeable landscape traversing the site. Leisure zones and gardens act as a connector between multiple transport hubs and establish a flow of tropical greenery and lively commercial activity, accessible to the public 24 hours a day. A plaza, carved into the center of the towers and integrating the neighboring building as part of its perimeter, forms a new public nexus between the historic district of Kampong Glam and the extension of the city’s commercial corridor.
Multiple levels of vertical connectivity give access to large elevated terraces for the hotel and residents, a public observation deck and a sky restaurant atop the office/hotel tower, while establishing a direct connection to the adjacent underground MRT subway station. Vehicular traffic is lifted off the ground to allow an uninterrupted pedestrian circulation. Extensive landscape areas at the ground levels, elevated terraces and roofscapes provide accessible green space equal to 100% of the site area.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2013, with completion pencilled in for 2017.

The twin tower of ‘V on Shenton’ is comprised of a 23-storey office building and a 53-storey residential tower, with the dual programming of the building highlighted through its massing. The office tower corresponds to the scale of the surrounding buildings and the street, while the residential tower rises up to distinguish itself from the neighbouring buildings. Above the third sky lobby the unit mix of the residential tower changes with a subtle display of its split core.
Just as the office and residential towers are of the same family of forms, so do their facades originate from the same family of patterns. The basic shape of the hexagon is used to create patterns that increase the performance of the facades with angles and shading devices that are responsive to the climatic conditions of Singapore. Along with systematic material variations, these geometric panels add texture and cohesion to the building, whilst reflecting light and pocketing shade. The texture and volume of the facade maintain the comfort of those living and working in the residential and office buildings. Shading devices and high-performance glass develop a sustainable and liveable facade.
Each tower is framed by "chamfers"; a line that unifies the composition of the residential tower, the office tower and the plinth. During daytime the chamfer appears smooth in contrast to the textured surfaces of the towers. At night the chamfer lights up as a continuous line framing building.
The office lobby is divided into a reception area and a large café which extends along the view corridor to create a lively atmosphere in the public areas.
The sky lobbies and the sky garden are an integral part of ‘V on Shenton’ and provide 360 degree views of Singapore. The most ample and diverse of the three sky gardens covers the entire 8th storey of the development. You are given even greater privacy combined with views of the city or the ocean. The penthouse levels also have exclusive access to the outdoor roof terraces.

United Engineers Limited is one of Singapore's pioneer, and first to be listed, companies. With its rich engineering heritage, the Group has played an integral role in the physical and economic transformation of the city.
The Marina Bay District has garnered plenty of attention for its glittering new attractions, but the Central Business District is now getting a face lift of its own. SAA has unveiled One Raffles Place Tower 2, a sustainable LED-lit skyscraper poised to infuse vibrancy into the downtown core with full glass windows.
The landmark offers panoramic views of Singapore and multiple green features that enhance the quality of the working environment.
Guided by SAA's philosophy, the 38-storey office tower is designed with an urbanistic approach, giving much attention to its surrounding urban form. With its crystalline exterior, the new skyscraper not only creates a strong presence but further catalyses the transformation of the existing downtown core into a vibrant global business hub. By night, the tower's glass façade coupled with its lighting effects illuminates the night sky which enhances the attractiveness of the unique Singapore skyline for the district.
One Raffles Place Tower 2 harmoniously complements One Raffles Place Tower 1, formerly known as OUB Centre. The diagonal planes of the new building are inspired by the spacing of the windows in its counterpart. One Raffles Place Tower 2 was developed from a collaboration between SAA and Paul Noritaka Tange of Tange Associates, whose father Kenzo Tange had designed the original One Raffles Place Tower One, over two decades ago.
As a sustainable building, One Raffles Place Tower 2 seeks to create a serene, comfortable and welcoming environment in the CBD while minimising environmental cost. Some of its green features include: the extensive use of eco-friendly building products and materials within and outside the building, energy-saving light fittings, solar energy, a highly efficient central air conditioning system that regulates fresh air and provide quality air filtration for the office, and motion sensors to reduce unnecessary waste of energy.
They believe that architecture goes beyond aesthetics. The design should add value to the urban environment. With its strategic location in the existing Central Business District, One Raffles Place Tower 2 injects a new form of urban energy at streets cape level. The overall design strategy for One Raffles Place Tower 2 is to produce a landmark that not only rejuvenates Singapore's changing cityscape but also creates a pleasurable working environment for its users.

Its sharp and well-defined sides create a chic and unique face to this otherwise conventional family home.
To complement the edgy nature of the exterior, plenty of natural materials such as timber-teak and teak strips were used liberally throughout the entirety of the house, displayed tastefully on the walls, flooring or furniture.
A colossal, spiral staircase greets one in the immaculate interior, commanding a strong visual axis. This forms the focal point of the entire house.
Also, in line with an eco-friendly theme, a skylight was constructed in the basement, which enables natural sunlight to stream in and illuminate the house’s interior space while also keeping it warm on the occasional cold day.

Volutes is a skyscraper conceived by Asami Takahashi and Jason Lim located in Singapore’s new marina bay area. Their proposal is to pull upwards the urban fabric and create a helical volume.
Public programs are wrapped around a central circulation core while six serpentine structures contain the private spaces. The morphology of the building results from the analysis of 6 control lines sweeping around the central core.
The outer skin is linked to the main structure with spokes arranged in a hexagonal configuration.
Volutes opens at the street level and closes at the top to allow direct sunlight into the city. Its porous skin maximizes ventilation and regulates the green parks and water reservoirs.

Stadium MRT Station was commissioned through the Marina Line Architectural Design Competition jointly organized by the Singapore Land Transport Authority and the Singapore Institute of Architects. The open, anonymous international competition, requiring no track record is acknowledged by the industry as one of the best run competitions held in Singapore to date. The Land Transport Authority continued their commitment to design throughout the design development and construction phases.
Stadium MRT Station is designed to enhance the urban quality of the surrounding areas as well as to provide world class transport facilities. Located at Stadium Boulevard, Stadium MRT Station will serve the surrounding entertainment and leisure facilities as well as the nearby East Coast condominiums by way of the pedestrian bridge across the Kallang River.
The station design has been shaped by the need to accommodate surge crowds from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Kallang Theatre and the National Stadium. The introduction of the MRT system into the area will change the nature of the precinct from a primarily vehicular area to a pedestrian place. The station forms a strong armature in the area, which future developments can be plugged into and organized around.
To address the large ground-level crowds, the station has been designed with an at-grade, open-air concourse and plaza. The open-air concourse prevents crushing and panic situations that could occur with crowds squeezing into confined, below-ground spaces. The ground-level entrance plaza will also create opportunities for the surrounding developments, currently inward-looking, to create and enhance external, ground-level activities. Shady trees, benches and meeting places will make the MRT plaza a much-used integral part of the use of this recreational and residential area. The station is open-ended, and designed to link to future developments in the area at ground level.
Inspired by landscape forms and the art of Richard Serra, the form of the station is generated both by the flow of crowds down into the station, and inflected by the massive, curved forms of the stadium. The design contrasts a linear element against a curved one. The interior of the station abstracts geological forms, creating a shimmering, glassy grotto below the opaque massive elements above. Pedestrian movement dramatizes perception of the space, as the escalators slide below the curve above, transporting commuters from the concourse at grade to the platform at basement 2.
The station creates a major dramatic space that gives the public a moment of spatial grandeur in their daily commute, as traditional train stations in Europe do. A central skylight creates an attractive, day-lit platform. Openings in the above-ground forms allow views down to the platform from the ground level plaza. The ribbed aluminium cladding system was custom designed by the architects to create an ambiguous material, sometimes soft like fabric, sometimes hard like stone, sometimes metallic, that changes with the quality of light and the time of day. A single extrusion can be orientated 4 ways to create endless variation in the relationship of the panels. The grey, stepped, curved forms preserve a memory of Singapore’s National Stadium, soon to be demolished.

The much awaited SkyGarden, on the roof level of nex, has opened. Occupying a floor area of some 10,000sq ft, the SkyGarden consists of: Kidz Play, a children’s playground with both wet and dry play areas; K9 Park, the first and only dog park to be incorporated into a mall; and 10 establishments that will set to make nex a hub for learning and child development, and even a haven for parents.
For pets and their owners, the SkyGarden offers K9 Park, The Pet Safari and Doggiestyle Café. K9 Park, is Singapore’s first and only dog park incorporated into a mall. It was thoughtfully designed to have two separate play areas - one for big dogs and another for small dogs, in order to keep the canines safe from each other. The Pet Safari is a pet shopping mall that brings the best vets, pet groomers, products and services under one roof – and the only enclosed shopping area in Singapore that allows owners to shop freely with their pets. Doggiestyle Café, meantime, is a café-cum-dog day care centre that allows pets to dine with their owners.
Aside from housing pet-friendly establishments, the SkyGarden, is a delight to parents with young kids. The SkyGarden at
nex will have 5 educational outlets: Aspire Hub Education, which takes a comprehensive approach in helping students cope with their academic challenges; Baby Spa, which offers swimming exercises and massage to stimulate babies’ physical growth and mental development; Brillionaire Kids, which works closely with parents to bring out the best in their children; CS Montessori Learning Centre, which offers a broad-based curriculum to encourage the development of multiple intelligence in children; and The Ballet and Music Company, which offers ballet, dance and music courses for all ages. The learning hub at nex will be completed with the National Public Library that will open in March.
The SkyGarden also has something for the parents and pet owners. After they have left their little ones in good hands in any of the abovementioned establishments, the adults can take their much-deserved break and indulge themselves at Young & Slim Beauty Bar, which offers innovative skin & body care products and treatments from Japan or shop at the soon to be opened King & King Wong, a lifestyle and home furnishing store.
Pet owners bringing their dogs to the K9 Park may only access the Park through a specially designated pet lift, so as not to cause any inconvenience for other shoppers. Dogs are strictly not allowed in other areas of the mall.
Kidz Play and K9 Park are open from 11am to 9pm daily. The SkyGarden however follows the malls operating hours (10.30 am to 10.30 pm).

Salt Grill by Luke Mangan brings Modern Australian cuisine to Singapore. Regardless of location, Luke aims for a setting that is stylish, relaxed, welcoming and showcases the best of Australian produce. The opulent and iconic ION building is the perfect platform to share Luke’s talent with Singapore. Salt, Sydney was Luke’s first restaurant which opened in 1999. In ancient Greece, salt was a rare, expensive commodity and it was given to people as a sign of hospitality and friendship. These traits are the core ingredients for Luke’s service philosophy and so the success of Salt began. The name was used again for Salt, Tokyo in 2007. Salt grill is an extension on that and first appeared on P&O’s Pacific Jewel in 2009.
Mod Oz is a relatively recent term that denotes the culinary style of a country searching for its own food identity. Brought about by a large multicultural society, chefs embraced different cuisines which in turn inspired a fusion of new ingredients and traditional techniques with the best produce available. Food is fresh, high quality and the cuisine emphasises simple preparation of unique ingredients. The variety of foods in Australia reflects the land and climate.
The Salt grill menu contains fresh Australian produce combined with the best of local ingredients. You can dine on earthy barramundi fish, salty Coffin Bay oysters, sweet Spencer Gulf prawns, delicate Petuna Ocean Trout from Tasmania. All meat is sourced from farming partners in Australia. Here and there you will find a hint of Aboriginal ‘bush tucker’, with the flavour of wattleseed, or fresh herbs. Australian hospitality is intrinsic to the food, and your welcome at Salt grill will be as warm as if you were coming to a barbecue in their backyard.
From 25 November 2010, food connoisseurs will be able to enjoy sky-high dining at Salt grill & Sky bar, an ambient, elegant 6,000 square foot space set against the backdrop of the breathtaking city skyline. Helmed by celebrity chef Luke Mangan, Salt grill & Sky bar is set to be a fashionable urban restaurant and bar delivering Luke’s special style of contemporary Australian cuisine that is Salt grill. Diners will be able to enjoy his signature dishes in the main dining area during lunch and dinner, as well as at the wine bar that offers all-day dining options. On the 56th floor, the Sky bar sets the mood for romance and glamour as diners indulge in pre or post-dinner drinks.
Helmed by CEO Seiki Takahashi, PJ Partners offers a unique dining experience by introducing the Japanese to exotic food cultures from around the world, while exporting Japanese food cultures internationally. The restaurants that PJ Partners work with span a wide spectrum of different concepts and price points. In Singapore, PJ Partners has three restaurants under its umbrella. They are Takumi Tokyo which serves three popular Japanese cuisine concepts under one roof – Teppanyaki, Robatayaki and Sushi; Ginza Bairin, a casual tonkatsu-specialty restaurant; and Salt grill Singapore, which serves up contemporary Australian cuisine.
The Queenstown estate will get its landscape rejuvenated and even more park-like features. Rain gardens, an eco-corridor that makes the most of mature trees and the byways of a nondescript canal transformed into a pedestrian promenade featuring water and greenery. This elaborate landscaping will be part of the rejuvenation of the now sleepy Dawson Housing Board (HDB) estate in Queenstown.
Details about the landscaping were unveiled at the recent groundbreaking ceremony for two new 40-storey housing blocks in the estate, both designed by local award-winning firms. They are SkyVille@ Dawson by Woha and SkyTerrace@Dawson by SCDA Architects. The projects were launched last December and are expected to be ready by 2015.
Features of the plan include transforming Alexandra Canal to make it more aesthetically pleasing, and intensive greening along Dawson Road, so that there is continuous shading for pedestrians and cyclists who use this road. The HDB appointed Cicada, a local award- winning landscape architecture firm, to design it. These plots are similar to dry ponds, which fill up only after it rains. Plants in these gardens will filter out dirt in the water before the water enters the Alexandra Canal.
As for the eco-corridor, it will be converted from a section of Margaret Drive. Mature trees here will be kept as they will help provide shade and retain urban biodiversity. A water body will also run along this corridor and residents can get close to it. The estate already has some green features in place, such as the Alexandra Canal Linear Park, which was opened by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew in 2007. The park, which connects Tanglin Road to Commonwealth Avenue, was built over part of the canal.

When ION Orchard opened its doors to the local public last year, the mall was the talk of the town. Now, with the newly opened ION Sky it looks set to have to share the headlines and limelight with the latest altitude attraction to hit Singapore.
ION Sky will take up 12,000 sq ft on the top floors of the joint Orchard Turn development (includes ION Orchard, and The Orchard Residences). Spread across two levels, ION Sky will have a panoramic view of the city and will comprise an observation deck and an event space although close to 6,000 sq ft of the area will be dedicated to F&B. The focal point is a multi-concept open kitchen where guests are presented with a dazzling display of variety not so much to impress as to satisfy appetites.
Much thought and planning had also gone into the design and layout of Stellar. From functional dining space planning to creating private enclaves and partitions to avail space to cater for weddings and corporate events, the decor behind Stellar was inspired from 'celestial ambience'; dimmed lightings complement the earthy-metallic furnishings for a clean, elegant and chic finish. The high ceilings at Stellar also maximise the panoramic views of the picturesque Singapore skyline. Coupled with award-winning service and sommeliers to recommend the perfect wines with your choice of cuisine, nights at Stellar promise to be a culinary adventure of exceptional artisanal food, amazing cocktails, stunning views, and impeccable service.

Companies dedicated to green business and technology will soon find their home in CleanTech Park, the first eco-business park here.
The master plan for the 50-hectare park stems from Singapore's plan to be a "living laboratory" where companies can develop, test-bed and commercialize green and urban solutions before expanding to the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide. JTC Corporation will build the S$52 million clean technology hub which will be built in three phases over 20 years.
The first phase will begin in July this year and will cover approximately 17 hectares of land. Upon completion in 2030, the eco-business park will house a population of 20,000 workers. Infrastructures will be strategically built through the minimal land cut principle to promote environmental sustainability and preserve the site's natural biodiversity and existing vegetation.
The park will also adopt JTC's Sky Trellis concept to provide plant-covered trellises, or drainage systems, connected between adjacent buildings. The trellises also provide shade for the open spaces in the area. Located at Nanyang Avenue, the park will house research and development activities for its neighbor and first anchor tenant, the Nanyang Technological University, to promote partnerships between industries and academies. "It will help us work seamlessly with key industry partners in CleanTech Park and allow our students to gain invaluable opportunities for attachment and hands-on experience in state-of-the-art green technologies," said Professor Subodh Mhaisalkar, co-director for the university's Energy Research Institute.
The eco-business park is part of Singapore Sustainable Blueprint worth $1 billion that aims to make the country greener and more energy-efficient. Singapore's clean technology industry is expected to contribute $3.4 billion to Singapore's gross domestic product and give jobs to 18,000 people by 2015. During the unveiling of CleanTech's master plan Manohar Khiatani, JTC chief executive, noted that businesses will naturally head toward environmental sustainability. "CleanTech Park will be emblematic of how businesses can achieve both economic vibrancy and environmental sustainability; functioning in harmony with nature," he said.
