Artisanal coffee house, Jewel Coffee, has launched its second outlet, Jewel Café + Bar, in the heart of Little India on Rangoon Road.
This all-day casual chic dining concept offers you an extensive menu devoted to a selection of delicious comfort food, unique creations, original cocktails as well as its artfully crafted specialty coffee.
The striking industrial chic look at Jewel Café + Bar is based on a design of contrasts and is conceptualised by the local cross disciplinary design practice FARM. Envisioning Jewel as a gem amongst the rugged surrounds of timeworn Rangoon Road, FARM decided on a raw shell of cold, bare concrete which is embellished with jewel-inspired details such as glittering crystal light bulbs, warm brass and copper ceiling features, glass doors, teakwood paneling and pristine white subway tiles reminiscent of vintage diners.
The laidback, quirky personality of the café is also evident from the al fresco patio at the front of the café, which is set up with latticed wire chairs in a retro shade of blue and an oversized chalk board that depicts witty cartoon etchings by a local artist.
For the menu, they took an irreverent approach to calorie-counting and go the whole hog to tantalise your taste buds. For instance, the traditional French Onion Soup is duly capped with a comforting baguette crust of Swiss Cheese, Parmesan and Gruyère, which is a great foil for the sweet caramelised onions beneath.
Don’t miss the unique Shio-Koji Octopoke, Jewel’s rendition of the poke, a Hawaiian raw fish salad, that’s given a touch of Japanese glamour. Tender cubes of pan-seared octopus are tossed in shio-koji (a fermented rice-based salt substitute), wasabi and extra virgin olive oil, paired with creamy avocado and shredded ginger flower for extra zing.
The sweet-toothed should leave room for classic desserts such as Homemade Apple Crumble, Tiramisu and Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Bean Ice-Cream. A standout treat is the refreshing Pan-Seared Watermelon Steaks that’s simultaneously warm, sweet, tart and salty.
With its wide array of breakfast items, Jewel Café + Bar makes a great destination for a languorous pick-me-up any day of the week. The breakfast menu lists popular favourites like English Breakfast, Eggs Royale, Eggs Florentine, Croque Monsieur and Brioche French Toast.
You can pop in for early cocktails during the happy hour daily or post-dinner tipples, as Jewel’s full-fledged bar serves up a list of exquisite original concoctions and international beers.
All their espresso-based coffee specialties – served in their signature double shot style – are lovingly pulled using the Italian state-of-the-art "La Marzocco Strada" machine and freshly-ground single origin coffee beans from different countries such as Brazil, Ethiopa and Sumatra.
Named after a legendary Samurai, Miyamoto Musashi, who was famed for his double sword style, the award winning Menya Musashi has become a household name in Japan since making its debut in 1996.
Credited as the pioneer of a new ramen culture in Japan, they strive to bring you new experiences through their revolutionary Ramen. Featuring a creamier soup base than most ramen, it comes in white, red and black versions. The signature white tonkotsu broth is made with a mixture of pork bones and fish paste, the latter providing a whisper of sweetness at the back of each mouthful.
Arbite, a favourite in Serangoon Garden's dining scene, has expanded its "Work Hard, Live Well" philosophy to Kampong Glam.
A for Arbite is the only establishment in Singapore to serve Belgian craft beers such as Lindemans, Palm and Steenbrugge Abbey, the latter two making their first-ever appearances on tap in Singapore.
They also features a specially crafted menu by Chef Marc Wee that demonstrates his playful approach to reinventing classics, including the Spaghetti with Tri-Pepper Crab, Arbite’s take on Singapore’s favourite pepper crab and the Scotch Egg with Yuzu and Wasabi Hollandaise, a classic English pub grub with a Japanese twist.
Arbite (ahr-bahyt) is a pun on the German/Danish word for work (arbeit/arbejde). Inspired by Europe but rooted in Singapore, this philosophy of working hard and living well is exemplified in everything that they do and the food they serve.
The TapMaster, a specially-engineered beer tap, has been brought in to maintain optimal freshness of A for Arbite’s Belgian draughts. Amber Ale, Abbey Double Brown, Abbey Tripel, Pilsner and Lindemans Peach beer are available on tap along with other favourites in bottles. A for Arbite features a tasting menu of five different beers and dishes which Chef Marc Wee has specially selected to match the Belgian brews. Non-beer drinkers can pair their food with artisanal teas.
The 64-seat, 2,000 square feet restaurant is at the heart of the Kampong Glam's latest dining stretch; Aliwal Street. The Aliwal Arts Centre, where the restaurant is located, is a historic heritage building whose geometrical clean lines and functional building elements complement Arbite’s approach to creating its dining spaces. The name "A for Arbite’ is a tribute to the Aliwal Arts Centre’s former identities as Chong Cheng School and Chong Pun Girls' School. It has since been refurbished by the National Arts Council to create space for both budding and established artists to showcase their works and talent.
They take food and drink seriously, with a tantalizing drinks menu and a tempting range of edibles.

The Department’s regularly changing menu of twisted classics, wicked salads, succulent sandwiches, small-batch cakes and tempting pastries is a celebration of bold, inventive and occasionally unconventional flavours.

Porsche has opened a new car showroom on Leng Kee Road.
Built at a cost of $40 million by the Eurokars Group of companies, the new five-storey building with a basement has two showrooms; one for eight Porsche models on the first level and another for eight Rolls-Royce models on the second. Besides these two brands, Eurokars represents Mini and Mazda.
During the launch of the new showroom the new Porsche Cayman was introduced. The Porsche Cayman is a rear mid-engined, rear wheel drive 2-seat sports car produced by Porsche AG in Germany. First launched in the 2006 model year, the Cayman is a coupé derived from Porsche's second and third generation Boxster roadster.
Cayman is an alternate spelling of caiman, a reptile in the same family as the alligator. On the same day that the first Caymans arrived at dealerships for sale, Porsche adopted four caimans at Stuttgart's Wilhelma Zoo.
The brand was born of a simple need, the solution to a frustrating problem: build a case that can withstand the rigors of rough travel. Today, that aluminum case, created nearly 70 years ago is the prototype for style, sophistication and uniqueness.
The company manufactures hard-wearing travel cases and briefcases, mainly of aluminium. It was originally a metal fabrication company called Zierold Company, which in 1946 changed its name to Zero Corporation.
Erle P. Halliburton, the founder of Halliburton, had commissioned the aluminium case in 1938 from aircraft engineers because other luggage could not endure the rough travel through Texas oil fields in a pickup truck. In addition to being more durable than a leather or cloth case due to its rigidity, the aluminium case seals tightly against dust and water.
The aluminium cases have appeared in over 200 Hollywood movies and television shows, often as a MacGuffin, and in professional wrestling, most notably used by Steve McMichael and Irwin R. Schyster.
In addition to aluminium, Zero Halliburton cases are available in polycarbonate and texalium.
The design of the foodcourt is quite similar to the old Satay Club at The Esplanade, closed in 1995.
The casual-dining space spreads over 2,000 sq m, featuring eight satay pushcarts. The new all-suite wing of the Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa was once a barrack base that housed British artillerymen during World War II. Now it has been meticulously restored to offer you a sense of history that’s been fully updated with every contemporary comfort.
The three-storey Heritage Wing now features 62 sumptuous suites and an all-day restaurant. During restoration by Singapore’s DP Architects, the wing’s atmospheric original features such as colonial doors, window frames, high-ceilings, wide covered "link way" corridors and other architectural details were fully renovated to their former glory.
The building’s colonial ambience was also enhanced by contemporary flourishes. For example, a 4.8-metre Y-shaped table crafted from a single piece of Indonesian teak has become a design focal point in the WOW whiskey bar in addition to full granite table tops and oversized "kerosene lamp" chandeliers.
Taking inspiration from Singapore’s culture and tropical climate, the designers incorporated atmospheric fans (as well as air- conditioning), floor-to-ceiling windows, slate bathroom floors, patchwork carpets, natural wood finishes and local design motifs.
You will be able to enjoy the majestic view of the commanding Merlion statue from your room, a reminder of Singapore's magical history and traditions, or a tranquil pool view from the room.
Dedicated butlers are assigned to all heritage suites to provide the ultimate standard of luxury and comfort. Those requiring private meeting space can also request for a complimentary meeting room for up to 2 hours. You are also invited to the elite lounge where breakfast, evening cocktails and coffee, tea and snacks are served throughout the day.
The hotel's flagship restaurant exudes a contemporary, yet relaxed vibe so you can appreciate its premium Euro-Asian fusion cuisine in style and comfort.

The Co, a new coworking and office workspace concept has just opened. Located in the heart of the central business district, The Co, a product of Arcc Holdings, is a stylishly designed ecosystem of affordable workspaces created to support the business community and start-ups in Singapore.
The Co’s central philosophy is to provide a space that brings much more to you; it is a place for collaboration, bringing like-minded professionals together to become part of a community. On top of leasing coworking desks and fully-equipped office suites, The Co regularly hosts networking events, workshops, and conferences that allow you to expand your networks. The Co also gives back to the community by opening up its spaces for non-profit events at no cost.
It was created to bring together people who share the same philosophy of collaboration and flexibility in an affordable space. They realise business needs are changing. Their workspaces should similarly evolve with the newer ways people work.
Embracing an open concept, you are free to change your workspace environment according to the type of task you are doing. The Co also offers you fully furnished workspaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology and business support on top of full access to three floors of breakout spaces.
With the high set up costs in Singapore for entrepreneurs, having a flexible range of workspace options, from coworking desks to fully furnished offices complete with business support, helps start-ups save significant time and money. Entrepreneurs who attempt to run their business venture from home or at a cafe may temporarily save on rental but can look less professional and feel less productive than those with a proper structure and community in place.
The Co appeals to start-ups as coworking spaces and flexible office suite arrangements give you access to more opportunities to grow your business. You will also benefit from added visibility amongst local and international investors.
The Co makes the process of getting a space simple and flexible with no hidden costs. You have the flexibility to rent a coworking desk by the day, 10 days a month, or monthly. Fees include WiFi, free flow coffee, pantry, shower facilities, lounge area, brainstorm room and free use of three floors of breakout spaces.
For members who need a private workspace, prices are fully inclusive of a fully furnished suite, internet and telephone services, utilities, security, front desk services, 24-hours access to the building and even cleaning and maintenance. The Co also offers a comprehensive range of business services on demand. From personalised receptionist service to a mailing address, The Co has it all included in a flat fee giving start-ups and entrepreneurs the full package at a steal.
The space has won several prestigious awards for its sleek interior including Gold at the Singapore Design Awards, IAI Best Enterprise Space Design, and Perspective Awards Excellence in Commercial Spaces.

The Mansion is the nocturnal transformation of High Society - a luxe bistro in the day that morphs into a supper bar and ultra lounge at night.
Located in Pacific Plaza next to Shaw Centre and right opposite the Hyatt Hotel, it serves as a destination spot for meals and chinwag in the comforts of a partially al fresco street level space and mezzanine that is lushly decked out for more intimate meets and music.
The name the Mansion is also an aural play on the word "dimension"- as the new institution aims to add a whole new level and facet to the conventional approach to bespoke bars and the art of music appreciation. It is intended to appeal to those that love travel, fine wine and music and a target audience that is regularly invited to decadent and exclusive house parties.
As such, The Mansion offers a complete taste-to-tonal experience of the senses where you can savour a holistic dish of music, food, drink and play.
Located along North Canal Road, right in the heart of Singapore’s CBD district and housed on the ground floor of a newly reconstructed shophouse in the oldest conservation area, Communal is a new casual American Diner and Bar serving contemporary gourmet diner food.
It is owned by American Chef Ryan Jetté, who was formerly the Executive Sous Chef of the Sentosa Resort and prior to that has also worked at top American establishments as the Chef de Cuisine of Farm at the Carneros Inn in Napa, California as well as under Thomas Keller at The French Laundry.
The décor of the room is designed with New York’s Meatpacking District in mind. Materials such as rustic bricks and steel are used to create that industrial chic look. The restaurant seats 36 and in line with the concept of Communal being an American diner, the counter takes centerstage with a long 16 seater bar facing an open kitchen. There are also four cozy booths along the bar counter for customers who prefer a more private dining option.
On the menu, Chef Ryan presents his take on classic American diner comfort foods, as well as his own culinary creations. Sandwich, using their house cured bacon with fried egg, lettuce and tomato.

Restaurant "Ezoca" epitomizes the theme of "Japanese Modern Hospitality", featuring Japanese cuisine including wagyu-steak, sushi and the fine art of Kaiseki with a variety of sake, wines and champagne.
They will bring you the very finest authentic Japanese dining experience. Conceptualised with Omotenashi in mind, the seating capacity of up to forty customers will allow for intimate interactions between the chef and you. The word 'Omotenashi' in Japanese comes from omote (surface) and nashi (less), which means "single-hearted" and also mote (carry) and nashi (accomplish), which means "to achieve". Therefore, Omotenashi has two meanings, which include offering a service without expectation of any returned favour and the ability to actualise that idea into an action.
Not only will the restaurant please food aficionados with their dedication to using only the freshest ingredients from Japan; their collection of rare sakes, hard to come by even in Japan and their tableware, specially flown in from Japan, will impress even the most discerning connoisseur.

KyoÌ„’s custom design is led by LEC and Singapore-based architectural design firm, Fuur Associates. Although kyoÌ„ embraces the principles of Japanese design, she embodies a cosmopolitan and urban appeal. And with style comes substance.
In today’s haphazard musical landscape, kyoÌ„ pays tribute to quality sound The diverse repertoire appeals to even the most demanding musical palate, with the seductive disco-infused grooves and other times, edgier music fare. kyoÌ„ is outfitted with the American- made EAW system, with a purity which makes the entire space sound as though it were a studio.
Your eyes will be immediately drawn to two striking, mirrored bottle displays made of mild steel and glass, each measuring 6.5-m long and suspended from overhead beams. Befitting kyoÌ„’surban, cosmopolitan spirit, the three-counter bar is lavishly stocked with an international, premium list with at least five different brands/ labels for each category of spirit, wines, sparkling wines and champagne.
Accompanying the international selection is a boutique collection of Nihon-shu. kyoÌ„’s fine sakes include Umakaramansaku Umakuchi Junmai, Seikyo Maboroshi Jyunmai and Dassai Junmai Daiginjou (award-winning Dassai Sake Brewery in Yamaguchi Prefecture).
Think "tavern" and the mind conjures a drinking house with a convivial atmosphere, a boisterous place without pretension, where you share food and knock back drinks while exchanging salty tales and have a rollicking good time.
Shelter in the Woods reintroduces the same lively concept of a tavern, creating a gathering place to meet, dine and have bounteous drinks.
Step into this modern tavern and notice the trademark detailing of this old-world drinking house, heavy oak tables with black cast iron finishings for group seatings, a faux fireplace with a mantelpiece of tavern collectables and a bronze deer head mounted above and a long dark wood bar with high-backed stools for the lone drinker.
Expect a hearty menu of Home-made Terrines and Rillettes, country-style pork and roasted pistachio Terrine, fresh pie, country-style chicken with onion, bacon, potatoes and oven-braised Cassoulet - Cassoulet of duck confit, lamb leg, pork belly and garlic sausage, Whiff fish braised in white wine and tomato sauce "duglere" style and classic Beef Bourguignon with bacon, button mushrooms and pearl onions.
Feast your senses on the open-kitchen where a Rotisserie of crispy skin suckling pig marinated with "Aromates", baby poussin with special house- made Provençal spice mix and layered lamb leg with tapenade olive pureÌe, garlic and rosemary are being slowly grilled to perfection. The enticing scent of meats wafting through the tavern to seduce appetites, just as French-Chinese Chef Patron has set out to do.
Shelter in the Woods boasts a collection of 26-types of house-macerated rums, made from a base of La Mauny White Rum, from the Carribean island of Martinique, all carefully and lovingly macerated by the restaurant manager, Maxime Larquier. The bar also has a vast selection of craft beers and ale for those who prefer to wash down their meals with their favoured brew.

The beautiful lush gardens of Dempsey Hill welcomes E+ Wine, a boutique wine retail shop that has been birthed by the desire to afford you a special little haven where good wines can be found within the confines of a charming and delightful environment.
It offers a stunning repertoire of genuinely great wines that have been selected by hand with love and passion where no wine in the store is considered average.
They represent a fast-growing Spanish wine movement but also include a stunning selection of Italian, French, Portuguese, and even Austrian and German wines that are worthy of well deserved attention. The wines come from very well known regions but are boutique in nature as E+ Wine works directly with vineyards that offer limited productions and very special grape harvests.
E+ Wines is a partnership between 'Iconic Wines', a Spanish / Singaporean wine distributor helmed by the Spanish Dynamic duo who are making waves in the Singapore wine scene, Ferran Riu & Jorge Padilla, and by the renowned and distinguished John Erdos of the furniture empire. Iconic Wines, extolled as Spain’s national pride, is a company that has been formed to enhance, to elevate and to exalt the original and die-hard winemakers that nobody hears about but that deserve attention. These winemakers, are the producers of extraordinary wine because they have not been affected by the big wine conglomerates that value quantity over quality. Iconic Wines provide a voice for the unheard and have even attracted the attention of Antonio Banderas who has co-invested in one of their own vineyards. Because Iconic Wines is a distributor, the prices that one may find at the shop are like Duty Free levels.
They work very closely with industry virtuosos to ensure that they stay up to date with great wines that are popular, but at the same time maintaining the unique essence of the boutique.
It is perfect for small intimate cocktails and canapé events for up to 50 people and they are happy to cater for almost all personal requests.
E+ Wines holds wine tastings on a very regular basis, by bringing you the actual winemakers in person, who have themselves worked with the wines and held the vines with their bare hands.
